    Looks like the fan commited a misdemeanor assault and battery on a player. Should have been arrested and charged using the broadcast as evidence. Commiting a crime at a public event should result in a lifetime ban. He should be criminally charged and would likely be subject to civil charges as well if the club or player wanted. If he was a regular fan, especially if he was black, he would have been arrested and thrown out then given a lifetime ban. What hypocrites!

    Here are the Malice in the Palace punishments:
    //
    On March 29, 2005, Bryant Jackson pleaded no contest to a felony assault charge for throwing the chair, and on May 3, 2005, he was sentenced to two years' probation and ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution. David Wallace was also convicted, and sentenced to one year of probation and community service for punching Pacers guard Fred Jones from behind.
    On March 27, 2006, a jury found Green guilty on one count of assault and battery for punching Artest in the stands, but acquitted him of an assault charge for throwing the cup. On May 1, 2006, Green was sentenced to 30 days in jail and two years' probation. On November 7, 2006, the Pistons issued a letter to Green informing him that he was banned for life from attending any Pistons home games under orders from the NBA, although the ban does not extend to other events at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
    //
    And everyone wants to suggest things like jail time, outrageous fines and even more for this GSW fan who basically lightly pushed (like you would a friend when joking around) Kyle Lowry. People unjustifiably see this as racism (all the headlines and talking points are littered with 'white privilege' and 'rich white man', those keywords aren't a hint at economic status at all they're absolutely 100% implying racism if you have any sense how to comprehend, why would a rich white man pushing a rich black man outrage anyone?). And this is how they justify suggesting such steep penalties for this fan. But that's the world we life in at the moment. Ban him for a year from GSW home games and give him a reasonable fine and that's it (just as the NBA did). Everyone inflates things.
    The GSW shareholders do have every right to buy him out (only what he's owed as an investor). And even ban him for life. They get to make the decision. Hopefully they don't listen to all the chirping birds in the media and online though. Here's to hoping they stick with a reasonable punishment and if it ever happens again with this same fan (which it will not) then take extreme action.
    No fine in the NBA this year equaled the 500k fine this fan received. And players fought each other in those cases. Remember Chris Paul @ the LAL? Serge Ibaka and Marquese Chriss? www.spotrac.com/nba/fines-suspensions/#. Society at-large is turning into a bunch of mental midgets.

Why would forcing a part-owner to sell his entire stake and banning him for life not be too extreme? He shoved the guy's shoulder. He didn't run onto the court and start throwing punches during play. He didn't jump into the stands like Stephen Jackson once did and start fighting every fan who got near him. Half a million for a shove sounds like a reasonable bite.

    Here's what I'm wondering... You're sitting courtside at an NBA game. You're having a good time because hey sitting courtside is just cool. Sitting there with your wife, girlfriend, father, brother, best friend, etc. i.e. someone important to you. Next thing you know you're covered in beer because a player just collided with that someone important to you in the seat to your left & the player just gets up and walks away like nothing happened. Lowry slammed into that older Asian lady in the yellow shirt, like real hard & she was clutching her chest afterwards. Lowry didn't even say excuse me or check to see if she was okay. Granted, he got shoved by Mr. Stevens, the guy who got the 1 year ban, before he really had time to say anything, but he could of checked on her before he left the area... I don't know. In my mind, I'm thinking, "you're sitting courtside. Of course, something like this could happen." When it's real life and you're covered in beer and someone you care about might be hurt, I can't promise you I wouldn't push a player & call him some very foul names, either.

    Life time ban is crazy. Steven Jackson punched out a fan and didnt get banned for life. It should be fair both ways. Capt Jack served a 30 games sentence and came back to do good things in the league. He is right though, I think the Pusher should have been fined more $$$ maybe 2-3million and been allowed to come back next year. I think theres just a lot of history between teams and players, and obviously the players have been mistreated as a whole. I think they are jumping a little far on this one though.

    If a huge basketball player slams into you, it gets your adrenaline pumping and you instinctively want to react violently. It takes a few seconds for the rational part of your brain to kick in. Also, the guy barely even pushed him, so this is kinda ridiculous.

    I really think that Warriors downfall has something to do with this owner behavior. Remember these players are friends regardless of basketball.

    You're setting a precedent here that if a normal fan engages in this type of behavior, they can be forgiven and allowed to return to attending game after some time off.

    "If someone is appropriately apologetic and takes responsibility for a bad act"
    I hate these assholes who say they shouldn't be punished badly because they apologized - *that's not your decision*
    If you're taking responsibility, don't make presumptions on what the right punishment is. This is nothing more than sheer entitlement

    The Commissioner showed a double standard for enforcement and sanctions. Shoving an employee of the NBA, followed by vulgar expletives, and a less than timely act of contrition says a lot, as does the “slap on the wrist” sanction imposed by the Commissioner. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!
