Ludi, can you make these as two separate mods? One for fixing performance with removing all those cultures and homelands and second for balancing the game for MP? I'd love to play with original balance but good performance. Not sure where the other improvements may fit, perhaps in either one of them, both or as a third one?

I played Victoria 3 a lot on release and I ended up with around 300 hours of playtime and only 20 hours of that was played without mods. I even end up making my own mods and in my opinion those made the game actually fun and playable. So I will definitely play with your mod when I come back to the game, all of your changes are very well thought out and good!
Hey Ludi, looking forward to try your Mod straight away. Have you ever thought about having certain Nations being able to negate the Malaria debufs? I always hate it when a nation in the Hart of the Malaria-Homelands need Quinine to settle the Jungle on the other Side of a River.
I also got rid of a lot of minority pops as well, especially religious minority pops inside of countries that have no religious discrimination. Because from a gameplay perceptive what is the difference? I also get rid of any pop below 5,000 completely unless it's the largest pop there. There are many pops in the game that is like English Catholic that is only like 400 people in total, which I guess is cool they added it but stuff like that fucks performance.
I have created a mod that reduces the number of different pops too. But I have not changed the starting pops. I have made a decision that can be unlocked with certain countries and technology to merge/unify cultures. For example you can unify north and south germans or italians after the formation of germany/italy. This adds another layer to formable nations. 2 big ones are the indian cultures and indonesian. Instead of dozens of primary cultures you can unify them to one. You might enjoy it - modname: Unification of Cultures
No homeland from occitans in occitania or Catalans in Catalonia? No way I am going to play that mod. Sure if there is only one cultute and one homeland it will be even faster!
I'm BR and paradox was wrong in my view of these new cultures in Brazil, so summarizing them in 1 would be ideal, if you put something like "Brasileiro" it would be really cool

Hell yea! I frickin love Paradox games, but I been holding out on Victoria 3. I only did a Prussia campaign in 2, which was probably one of the best play throughs on any of their titles. I only got so far as watching you change the Ottomans & Prussian colours and I'm already telling you how sick you are. Nice frickin one dude.
Improvement idea for Brazil: Minas Gerais has this somewhat iconic name (literally translates to General Mines) because you could find pretty much every resource under the sun there, to this day. The game reflects this with HUGE ammounts of Iron buildable there, and Gold, but it completely neglects the Coal that could also be found there, it is certainly something to look into.

This kind of change in the game logic 'll improve greatly the replatability of the game, if the player can choose the patch he want, warmonger or tall? industrial or agricultural? The game shoud be a little more focused toward this. Obs: I hate this tech tree, I would prefer the CK2 style, like you buid a university and the tech would spread slowly through the country, boosting the education too. And using a similar points to chose the tech you want. So if you want to focus on the military, you can, for example. I hate the way that techs looks "plastered" in the new paradox games

I'm a brazilian, and played with my country, one thing that doesn't make any sense to me is the "brazilian culture", since it is european heritage, dont get me wrong, im white, but vic3 should have a system like "euro brazilians, afro brazilians, nipo brazilians, arab brazilians" and so on, since during game time we received imigrations basically from everywhere.
Love the changes. Even if this is something that PDX can't bring itself to fully support, they should at least consider making it an option for the user to switch on/off to increase performance. That way, people can play the way they want to and hopefully keep the racist yellers at bay.
Consider on same topic, hopefully someday Ludi can cover a topic of Victoria 3 mods to try out. Litterly very hard to find a proper video on UA-cam minmaxxing Mods on this game

You could also add a mode called 'Gilded Age: Historical Flavor, which would include many more events, such as the Crimean War, to enhance replayability.
With the infamy modifiers, what about adding an infamy cost reduction to conquering an infamous nation's lands? Could help people dogpile on fast expanding countries. Of course that should also mean you lose infamy if you lose land (whatever the person conquering the land gains maybe?)
Maybe if in different provences if you get 50% your culture it turns to that countries homeland, and if it goes down to 20% thqt culture loses homeland
It would be really nice if the mod had a setting that could control how much of the homogenization/homeland removal was done, that way people with better pcs could customize the experience, kind of like the setting for how aggressively will it merge pops
About homelands. I have a suggestion: how about changing them with nation formation and decisions. Like France researching nationalism and removing all other "French" culture homelands. Or Greece forming Byzantine Empire and removing all Turkish homelands from Anatolia. And Ottomans being able to remove all Greek homelands from Anatolia after tanzimats done. Or add some big formable nation to South America with its own culture. Like Columbia uniting South America and creation South American Culture, making all South American regions homeland to united culture only.

in the diaries i read that they are improving revolutions and political movements, like ok that is good but, i would think that the warfare improvement is more necesary.
Seems like there should be a "historical" vs "performance" option in the base game and stuff that doesn't really matter for game balance (like a million minorities) should be removed if you pick performance
Why not simply remove all homelands? Would that not work? Also would removing all religions also not help with the lag? Because honestly currently I don't really see the point of religions in the game aside from flavor and the one law, since all the religions also seem to be tied to culture?

Spain banning the import of slaves, but not emancipating the slaves its citizens own is exactly what the Legacy option for slaves is there to address. Just like the United States banned the import of new slaves, but did not emancipate its slaves. This distinguishes those countries from something like the Ottomans that were still importing slaves from Africa. But it if slavery is still legal, then you can't say Spain banned slavery.
I played v3 for 300 hrs, and never find the passion to play it again, the game is so fatigued and complicated in a non interactive way is what make it worse than other paradox games
very based that removing minorities fixed the game but why call it "balanced history" when it's 10% history and 90% balance, and seemingly less historical than vanilla. i can't agree with this approach to MP balance at all, the start should be as historical as possible and then all "imbalance" is just considerations for player diplo, otherwise the vic3 appeal of being a historical simulation is damaged

how does removing minorities affect migration ? I feel like less cultures might mean less migration, but then again i'm not an expert
you are right less cultures less migration since a culture can only migrate every some years
