There is a really easy way to automate the altar, put an a Crafter on a Hopper going into an open crate with the recipe for the runes in it, tell it to block crafting if the inventory contains items, not sure if refined storage has that functionality, and make sure the living rock is first in the recipe so that drops first, then put a comparator from the altar to disable the Hopper from dropping, and a timer to enable the Hopper on a pulse to slow it down, put a redstone torch on the open crate to prevent hopperhoke from picking up items, and put a dafomill to push the items off the altar so crafted runes don't go back into it, you will also need to put an item frame next to the hopperhoke to prevent it from picking up living rock, job done
Dire really needs a mod that points out items that he has in his inventory! :D Like, when he speaks that he needs a Rune of Fire, hey, look at what just glowed in your inventory. Or something along those lines. :D
he should make a different, possibly more expensive, type of mana pool that does do that; because a group of mana pools together looks stupid and having to have a spark on each is inefficient.
Thats what I wanted from the fabulous mana pool. I went through the whole deal of crafting the stuff, and by the time, I was almost ready, I found out it was just aesthetic. :,(
Dire, what I usually do for recipies like the duplication that use quartz to make quartz is set up a system so if the storage ever has less than a certain number, it exports some quartz to get duped. That always works for me
I've an idea of how you could make the duping happen using refined storage, use interfaces to always pull out those items from the system. Then, use a redstone signal to turn off the interface, once you have a set amount in the system- just like the obsidian, but for dropping items. Of course, you'd have to make the system to take from the interface, drop it onto the pool, and only pick the resulting items up every few seconds, maybe every 3 seconds or even 5 depending on how many you want to duplicate before they get picked up and put back into the system. Hope you see this Dire, it shouldn't take you long to set this kind of thing up!
Dire, just an FYI, if you put an ender crystal on your sword (The Ender), it will act like a staff of traveling when you use it like a regular staff of traveling.

@Direwolf20 you are going to have to move your Terrasteel crafting area as the ranged collector for the mana steel, diamond and pearl will pick up the items before the Terrasteel crafts.
What I like to do with the Alchemy Catalyst (which is the main reason I even play with Botania) is to have a timer, an inventory checker (of any kind) and a redstone comparator. I use the comparator to check if there's more than 30% mana in the pool (being the pool that is "last in the stack", if that has 30% or more, the rest of the system is fine). I use the inventory checker to see if I have less than 4 stacks of each of the double-able resources. Then I use the timer to make sure the catalist has time to drop the item in, since the item collector will need to pick up the same thing the dropper drops down. This way, for as long as I have the mana to spare, I will always have at least 4 stacks of each resource the catalyst can double. I use a separate one for the conversions, but that's pretty much a copy of what Dire built here, with the inventory checker checking if I have at least 4 stacks of the resource to be converted as well as having less than 4 stacks of the converted resource (and the mana check, of course).
Oh, after actually finishing the episode, apparently the catalyst is now split in two. This probably shows how long it's been since I played with botania :P
AE2 and runic altar automation pair up pretty well. Runic altar subnet gets a single crafting CPU so that it can only do one craft at a time. You set up an inventory with an export which tries to export every rune type back to main storage with a crafting upgrade, so it's constantly trying to craft every item, discovering that it has no items and giving up. When you want to craft an item, you dump the ingredients into its storage. I guess it's bulletproof until multiple recipes share ingredients, but it's fine for at least all the standard runes. I don't know whether Refined Storage allows for a similar trick because I haven't had enough free time to check.
Dire, for the duping items, you could have a level emitter next to an exporter set to only active on redstone signal. That way it doesn't involve a crafting loop. :D
There's a Easy way to teach the system to dup Quartz, use a buffer of quartz to keep a Open Crate continuously dropping it into the pool and get a Level Emitter to shut it down as the quartz hits a sweet spot
I think I discovered a cool way to automate runes with botania basically its the same way you automate the draconic stuff. So if you want to craft something it sends the items to a single master chest. That master chest is connected to other chests which have a routing node which only lets a single one of each item (or the proper required amount) for crafting the rune into the chest. Once the chest is full it triggers a redstone pulse which puts on a timer to prevent another transfer for 20 seconds (I havent found a good way to solve the issue of countinual putting in items other then another chest which is connected to the system which will pulse when the item gets picked up). For alot of the common materials I let the system just autofill the chests (lmana pearls and etc) so all I have to do is supply the more rare materials (nether warts, etc)
Dire.... just a FYI.. you have Mana Glass Whitelisted to be picked up at the portal instead of Alfglass,,, unless I missed you fixing it somewhere Also NETHERWART FARM lol
I know you record ahead but it might be interesting to see you automate the runic alter with both the catalysts under it attached to sticky pistons so that depending on the recipe it pushes or pulls the correct block or air under the alter.
Just use the "Autocraft on redstone signal" from the RS Crafters and place a RS Detector next to it. (Or check the Refined Storage Manual about Crafter!)
in Etho's Project Ozone playthrough he has an automated runic altar. He uses vanilla redstone so it just drops the stone and clicks the wand. I think the same system would work for you and I'm pretty sure it can be fully automated and connected to the refined storage system.
That little build (Ranged Collector to be straight) will interfere with the Terrasteel production isnt it? I mean it will pick up all three ingredients.

For Conjuration duping how about a local 1stack drawer that's NOT connected to the RS system with a backup stock of items you want to dupe? Extract from there on demand, route the collected dupes back into that drawer on a higher priority (EnderIO conduits or the like) and the excess into an RS interface. If RS can't handle the 1quartz=2quartz recipe properly you can make a dummy recipe like 1stick=1quartz to trigger the above system. Of course a level maintainer is far easier and actually more convenient unless you need burst consumption of hundreds of the item. Especially for slow-crafting stuff like EIO alloys or AE/RS processors it's much faster to just have a stack or two crafted in the background and ready to use when you need them.
THE HOTBAR ORTHER, I noticed it in like s2 when I 1st subbed the channel, because of him i started to keep a hotbar orther as well... though not quite the same orther... this brings up my 2nd thought: Dire is really good at automation and figuring things out, however he is really bad at building them!!! JUST BECAUSE IT IS UNDERGROUND IT HAS NOT TO BE MESSY, DIRE!

I feel like having a pattern grid/procceing pattern table, as well as a craftin grid AT your botania area, would be a super quick thing, that would save you a lot of bouncing back and forth.

what would be a really cool addition to something like ae or refined storage would be like a redstone port so that you can trigger a redstone signal through the system so like you could setup a crafting recipe that says *trigger redstone signal* = desired outcome making the duplication of items easy
That already exists, just check the Crafter .. there is an option "Autocraft on Redstone" + an detector behind with "on quarz lower than 64" => tada ... to easy!
Great job automating most of it, but as often happens you've missed a Vanilla solution. Just have a separate set-up for Nether Quartz that just uses a Dropper and an Open Crate so you can push a button or give it a Redstone signal for more Nether Quartz. Problem solved! #botania4thewin
If there was an option on RS autocrafting to force the crafting to occur even if it already fulfilled the request then that could be stopped. It would have to be part of the pattern like ore dictionary.
A while back some people were saying that the enderman who were spawning were coming from the blood magic spawner, and teleporting out. I'm not sure if this has been shown to not be the source, but its worth a look
You know, Dispenser-ing up through the ground from below, like you did with the gourmalayis, should probably work for putting things in the mana pool and on the agglomeration plate, too.... so you wouldn't need to have the open crates above. But at least this way you get to show off the red-string stuff.
It's funny and maybe it's OCD on my part but I always make the 'hidden' area of cables and such very neat and accessible as opposed to just the bare minimum. If I can't freely walk around and under all wiring then it's not good enough and I never have to go back and find stuff lol.

Same way as creating Manasteel, Mana Diamond, etc (If i remember correctly, order doesnt matter), you just have to think about, how to fill up the base. (There's i think over 3 ways)
shouldnt automating the runic altar be super easy with what you have? you might just need one input chest for the crafting components for every separate rune instead of a separate altar, if you want to que up multiple runes for auto craftng and not have the components mixed up.

Unless it has been significantly changed: No. Dispersive Sparks only send their mana to player inventory items, not other Mana Pools. In addition, a Dominant Spark can *not* pull from a Dispersive Spark. Otherwise, the spark acts like a normal spark (taking mana from Recessive, providing to crafting like Terrasteel).
Thaumcraft, BuildCraft, MystCraft, Portal gun, ComputerCraft, Twilight Forest, Pneumaticraft, none of iChun's mods??? That sucks!!! I'm just gonna start a new world with my old modpack for 1.7.2... So sad... Soooooo sad... This 8th season is really pale in comparison to old seasons! All this because he wanted to make a new series before the needed mods could even be updated for 1.10 (which was the original plan, if I remember correctly) but we never know either if they will ever! the fact is, it progressively declined from the best modpacks ever to those sad versions of something tha tries to mimitate what it was in it's prime youthfulness!

The mod author of Botania seriously needs to make a group of mana pools connect to create one larger pool, like a multi-block.

You can put travel on the ender sword so you don't have to use the ender wand :) One less item in hotbar :) Love it!

It's easy to tell, because they spawn with the black particle effects from the Cursed Earth.

dire you could use 4 or5 crafters per runic alter, it'll cut down on the number of them you need for auto crafting

use xnet for rune auto crafting?

shouldnt automating the runic altar be super easy with what you have? you might just need one input chest for the crafting components for every separate rune instead of a separate altar, if you want to que up multiple runes for auto craftng and not have the components mixed up.
Then there is still the problem of the components of multiple of the same rune mixing up.
i think thats solvable with transfter nodes (restricting it to 1 item per type).

try shaping the outside of your buildings and make them a bit nicer

no you can't. both the runic alter and botanical brewery require spreaders. Vazkii did this so they wouldn't be going super OP fast.

Dispersive is a better recessive, use it
Unless it has been significantly changed: No. Dispersive Sparks only send their mana to player inventory items, not other Mana Pools. In addition, a Dominant Spark can *not* pull from a Dispersive Spark. Otherwise, the spark acts like a normal spark (taking mana from Recessive, providing to crafting like Terrasteel).

I fully agree. Or make it a liquid. Or just give us someway to bulk store it. Somedays you just need to make half a stack of Terrasteel.

That sucks!!! I'm just gonna start a new world with my old modpack for 1.7.2... So sad... Soooooo sad...
This 8th season is really pale in comparison to old seasons! All this because he wanted to make a new series before the needed mods could even be updated for 1.10 (which was the original plan, if I remember correctly) but we never know either if they will ever!
the fact is, it progressively declined from the best modpacks ever to those sad versions of something tha tries to mimitate what it was in it's prime youthfulness!
jojolafrite90 Yeah, you lose a lot of cool older mods, but there are a lot of awesome new mods as well, like Psi & Actually Additions. You sound like an old man talking about the glory days of his youth. What's the fun in playing if you already know how to do everything? I think half the fun in modded Minecraft is learning new mods and trying new ways of doing things, which is why I get annoyed when Dire just uses Ender IO for everything like he always does.
