IIT peer pressure is the ultimate. The thought process in IIT is all sbout fine tuning the weak points rather then be happy with your talent.
I just love this podcast. Lots of wishes.
Here is how I did with binomial theorem only.
111^111 = (104+7)^111(same as he started)
So in binomial expansion
(104)m+7^111
So we now have to only take care of 7^111.(since 104 is already a multiple)
7^111=7×7^110=7×49^55
This can be written as
7×(52-3)55
7×(13m-3)^55
In this binomial expansion the constant term is -2^55 and rest are divisible by 17
Now we take care of
-1×7×3^55
This is same as
-1×7×3×3^54
and since 3³ is 27 I write
-1×7×3×(27)^18
This is same as
-1×7×3×(26+1)^18
-1×7×3×(13m+1)^18
In binomial expansion of (13m+1)^18 term which is not a multiple is 1(constant term)
That is the remainder is -7×3=-21
So as to obtain the actual reminder we add with 26(nearest multiple greater than 21) which will give you 5.
🤓

111^108= 1( mod13)
111^111=111^3 (mod 13)
111= 7(mod 13)
111^3 = 343 (mod 13)
