OH MY DARLIN' CLEMENTINE LYRICS:
Oh my darling, oh my darling
Oh my darling, Clementine
You were lost and gone forever
Dreadful sorrow, Clementine
In a cavern, in a canyon
Excavating for a mine
Dwelt a miner forty-niner
And his daughter, Clementine
Yes I loved her, how I loved her
Though her shoes were number nine
Herring boxes, without topses
Sandals were for Clementine
Oh my darling, oh my darling
Oh my darling, Clementine
You were lost and gone forever
Dreadful sorrow, Clementine
Drove the horses to the water
Every morning just at nine
Hit her foot against a splinter
Fell into the foaming brine
Ruby lips above the water
Blowing bubbles soft and fine
But alas, I was no swimmer
So I lost my Clementine
Oh my darling, oh my darling
Oh my darling, Clementine
You were lost and gone forever
Dreadful sorrow, Clementine
You are lost and gone forever
Dreadful sorrow, Clementine

I'm trying to get this channel to 1000 true fan subscribers and it would help so much if you pressed the bell also 🔔 😀
This channel is my 2nd channel and I am experimenting with different styles of music than I wouldn't normally sing on my main channel so most of these songs are sung in one take. Thanks so much for your support 😀💚 ~ Melissa Kellie
This is exactly how this song should be sung 😭😭😭😭
You've inspired me to keep the old west songs alive! To keep American history alive...
Awww thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it
I never listened to the actual versus. Holy crap, what a story. All these years I was clueless and now I'm speechless
What. A. VOICE! Bravo Melissa
Aw thank u! Xx
Hi, this is Jermey McGuire. I, remember listening to this song a long time ago. Till yesterday I found this song on UA-cam. It brings me back memories.”
I was 4 or 5 years old I heard found a peanut with the same rhythm.”
It’s sad clementine trips on a splinter and falls into the water and drowns. I can’t stop listening to the song.”
It’s one my past favorite songs, I Love It!!!! 🫶🏻🤗
Aww thank you so much Jeremy, I'm glad you enjoyed it and that it brings back memories for you! Thanks for your kind comment and happy new year!! 😀 x
I always wondered why, “Dreadful sorry, Clementine,” sounded so dismissive and insincere. Now that I’ve found a cover I like enough to listen all the way through, it makes a lot of sense.
Oh my gosh. Just beautiful!! I know this is the prettiest version, I have ever heard!! I heard this song on the series, "Outlander," tonight, and looked for the lyrics to play it on my guitar for my dad. I grew up listening to my Grandpa and my Uncle playing this song on the banjo and guitar. They would play the instrumentals, but never sang, for hours, on holidays for us. Sadly we lost them both years ago, but can still hear this and other haunting songs like Red River Valley, on and old tape recorder, from when they were still with us. Thanks so much for your lovely version. It's perfect!! I look forward to hearing much more from you!!🥰❤
Aww thank you so much your comment is so thoughtful and sweet! I'm so sorry about your grandpa and uncle would of been cool to hear it on a real banjo!
I'd only vaguely known some of the lyrics before deciding to look up this song from my childhood.
Wow, savage ending.
Yes I know the lyrics are really sad :(
@@melissasingsofficial I'd just watched the Shelley Long piece on it & had to know the words. She's the mom in The Shining w Nicholson btw (May have spelled wrong, sorry.)
Thanks for putting this up!
Help me with the last verse. So he is consoling himself in that he has another daughter??
Clementine is his sweetheart .Just mentions that her father was a miner, a forty-niner. Just a bit of humour in last verse about the little sister. Nothing weird.
I can say that your version of this song is extra ordinary...now i understand the story of this song👍😊
Aww thank u

Wonderful performance edition of the song. amazing how dumb the story of the song actually is

Our 'dogmom' used to sing this song when she was little (a very long time ago)....not as pretty as you sing it though...🐶🐾🐺
Its dif lyrics slightly to the version i know but you sing it the best
Pretty dark stuff lol but sounds nice
Thank you so much!
❤
Ok job, but this historical folksong needs to be sung like a folksong, not like a pretty ballad. A bit of grit is what’s needed. 😊
"Whatdaya think AJ?"
Oh my darling Melissa . Beautifully sang and presented. Lovely video done so well with another delightful old time song. Thanks so much my friend. Enjoyed once again Irene. 🌹❤️
