I bought a gaming laptop last year for 899 euros with a gtx 1650 and 1 month later laptops with rtx 3050 at the price of 899 euros started to show up, and that hit me hard.
Thanks for the video. Noticeable performance difference. Unfortunately, the 3050 does require an additional connector. That means that you either have PSU that already has one, in which case you can probably get something better. Or need to upgrade, in which case, again, if you are getting a new PSU might as well try to get a better GPU. While the 1650. Was a GPU that save all the people that has OEM prebuilts or office PC that have a crappy proprietary PSU that can't be easily swapped.
I think most prebuilts come with the extra connector cable now. My Prebuilt Nitro 50 640 did. I just had to pull it out from the bottom, which is good because i cant replace to psu in this thing.

Any 600+ Gaming desktop would support some dGPU. Or it should. But, soGaming. That was really common I. The budget market. Is that people buy refurbished or used OEM office PC that have good CPU for dirt cheap. And slapping an affordable GPU. For budget PC gaming. But for a couple years that become difficult, between proprietary PSU and and no successor to GPUs like the 1050. What more or less fixed that was AMD APUs becoming really good, but those are rarely found for cheap and might as well get it new. But something like an Optiplex with an i5 couple gen older for about $350 considering the CPU, that it comes with ram, ssd, Windows and usually even an ODD. Add a low-mid GPU another stick of RAM and got a solid 1080p PC maybe even higher res. Of course the price of GPU now also made that a bad choice. Cause once you are getting on the 550 total, with a little more you can get something like the Nitro on sale and it would be new.
All those guys who bought a gtx 1650 devistated that the rtx 3050 is much better but honestly tho I think it's still a solid budget graphics card for the pric especially that the 3050 is mostly overpriced everywhere so if u have an 1650 laptop here are some tips to increase performance in games first u need to make sure that Ur using a 8×2 ram kit in Ur laptop to benefit from the dual channel feature it makes huge difference especially in triple a games and obviously if u have one 8 gigs of ram kit u need to put a second one make sure it's not slower than 3200mghz and u need to buy a gaming cool pad for the next step then apply a bit of an overclock to work in gaming mode only so the card works at its normal clock speed till u activate gaming mode then the overclock will apply u need to make sure Ur always plugged to the charger this will give u around 15-20 FPS increase depending on the game that'll surely make a huge difference especially in games that doesn't work good at high quality but u really won't to play high quality u can but with all these changes if u have a pc version here are some tips to increase Ur FPS same stuff u need to make sure Ur using at least 2×8 ram kit 3200 mghz obviously higher=better but not by much cause from my opinion most games don't benefit from faster rams and as Ur a pc user u need to make sure there is no bottleneck between Ur CPU and GPU cause u may have a lower end CPU that's not capable of giving you the full performance of the gtx 1650 if u made sure of that then Ur ready for the next step to cool Ur card really good u need to take it to the nearest pc shop and change it's cooling system from air to liquid cooling which is gonna cost u about 50 bucks but it's definitely worth it cause then you'll be able to give Ur card a good overclock maybe a 100mghz on GPU clock and a 400 maybe even 500 on vram clock speed and since Ur a pc Ur not restricted by only overclocking Ur card u can even overclock Ur CPU squeezing every last bit of performance out of Ur device maybe if needed and u see a difference overclock Ur ram btw for the CPU overclocking you'll need to replace the trash stock cooler with some really good air cooler Which is gonna cost u around 30 to 50 bucks even better u can do a liquid cooler for Ur CPU costs about a 50 to 80 bucks overall this is gonna give u around 30-40fps increase even approaching the rtx 3050 cause as we see here in the vid there is around 40-50 FPS difference bet the 2 GPUs long story short gtx 1650 either pc or laptop version is really good especially with some changes to cooling system depending on Ur machine type wether it's a pc or laptop and by some good cooling and some really good overclocking you'll be so impressed by this card performance as it will really performe really good in most games
i have no idea why but my brand new dell ryzen 5 rtx3050 can not run monster engery supercross without severly bogging down and the GPU is MAXED! my 2 year old msi with the 1650 had ZERO issues running it.
RAM bottlenecks, cpu bottlenecks, even storage bottlenecks. There are multiple things that can slow it down. Maybe your cpu did not have to work as hard when you had the 1650. Also your cpu does not need to be 100% to get your gpu to 100%. It can be that your single core performance is low on your cpu or your memory latency+ clock speed is slowing down your cpu or you use an hdd for games that can slow down depending on the game or third party apps running in the background. There are loads of things that can happen. It can also be driver issues.

@@sameer209 I think 12100F will be enough. I have a 10100F + 1650 SUPER combo and seems the CPU (which 2 gen older then 12400/12100) could do more till the GPU at max. Most games my 10100 usual usage is around 20-50%, the GPU is 70-90%. I say a 12100F and a 3050 with 16 GB RAM would be fine.

Due to inflation, chip shortage, and more people buying entry-level gaming laptops, that is the reason why but since it is on sale most of the time, it’s similarly priced as a GTX 1650, good but not impressive.
Its because not of just nvidia but the cost of living and inflation that the card prices are high. Its like comparing a loaf of bread in 2019 to 2022. Also the fact that covid messed up the economy so recovery takes time. I mean the stock market was basically so low that it broke the record of an all time low. Also the prices of materials when up much since there are shortages and demand is also again high. There are alot of factors that increase price of a product. The demand was also extremely high that time so yea.
You are not missing much tho, the video one is 3050 8gb, the one with same price as 1650 is probably 4gb version which gives similar performance as 1650

Later this year new socket types, with MOBO, DDR5 goes mainstream, and the 4000 series card coming out. Games just need more memory these days especially the open world battle royals types. 4GB is the minimum now for a GPU right now. I can easily see that being 6GB, or even 8GB, in about a year.

3050,you'll unlock more fps,can run 1440p with 30-90 fps in modernish games depending on their graphics (gta 5,minecraft,etc...),DLSS which is a huge thing and to add the cherry on top,entry level for medium-like shaders

1650 is literally a weaker card and it is way cheaper in my country (i guess in some countries they are same price,) but i will still buy 3050 or 3060 if possible.
A very valuable lesson for everybody... I bought the GTX 1650 laptop. Still own it today. My friend got the RTX 3050 laptop. He no longer owns it today. He bought another within 18 months. Mine was 4.5 GHz, same as his. Mine however was a mere 6 core, his was 12 cores. I had the GTX 1650 video card, he had the RTX 3050 video card, which actually lowers your performance drastically to allow room for the ray tracing, which it's neither here nor there with a lot of games and I'd much rather not sacrifice a tremendous amount of performance for some ray trace nonsense, but to each their own and let's not digress... so our laptops on paper were night and day. His burned out at the 18 month point. His whole laptop, fried!!!!!!!!!!!! It would always be extremely noisy, even from the sign into windows screen, without a single program opened at all. It would not respond a lot of times. Freeze up and unfreeze. Blue screen 3 times a week, and he had consulted with other friends who too had informed him that theirs does the exact same. Feel free to look up the overwhelming 1 star reviews on them from people so that you can back up what I'm saying. I bought mine, 3 years on and it's still solid. Fan barely ever needs to run. Silent as a burglar in the night. It has never frozen once. Never blue screened. Runs super fast. Is incredibly sufficient. And video games look very good. Never gets hot at all, legit AT ALL. It's always as cool as a cucumber. I could use this laptop for the next 7 years, my mate's didn't even last 2. So the moral of the story is, don't listen to dickheads who think they know what they are going on about in a UA-cam video, and always know that nothing is always as it seems. Our laptops were a measly few hundred bucks difference. For an extra 300 I could have gotten 12 cores instead of 6 and an RTX 3050 instead of a GTX 1650. It was a happy accident. It is when I learned how lucky I was. Educate yourselves. And don't listen to absolute idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3050,you'll unlock more fps,can run 1440p with 30-90 fps in modernish games depending on their graphics (gta 5,minecraft,etc...),DLSS which is a huge thing and to add the cherry on top,entry level for medium-like shaders

i have no idea why but my brand new dell ryzen 5 rtx3050 can not run monster engery supercross without severly bogging down and the GPU is MAXED! my 2 year old msi with the 1650 had ZERO issues running it. I dont adjust setting I leave them at default. I had to drop everything from the video options and the rtx still bogged... i then had to drop resolution to 16:9 before i would run it. wtf is wrong with it????

The GTX 1650 is trash compare to RTX 3050 I have the 3050 I am so happy the 1660 super have the same performance as the RTX 3050…

The 1660 super is still good the 1650 GTX is not good for 2022.

A very valuable lesson for everybody... I bought the GTX 1650 laptop. Still own it today. My friend got the RTX 3050 laptop. He no longer owns it today. He bought another within 18 months. Mine was 4.5 GHz, same as his. Mine however was a mere 6 core, his was 12 cores. I had the GTX 1650 video card, he had the RTX 3050 video card, which actually lowers your performance drastically to allow room for the ray tracing, which it's neither here nor there with a lot of games and I'd much rather not sacrifice a tremendous amount of performance for some ray trace nonsense, but to each their own and let's not digress... so our laptops on paper were night and day. His burned out at the 18 month point. His whole laptop, fried!!!!!!!!!!!! It would always be extremely noisy, even from the sign into windows screen, without a single program opened at all. It would not respond a lot of times. Freeze up and unfreeze. Blue screen 3 times a week, and he had consulted with other friends who too had informed him that theirs does the exact same. Feel free to look up the overwhelming 1 star reviews on them from people so that you can back up what I'm saying. I bought mine, 3 years on and it's still solid. Fan barely ever needs to run. Silent as a burglar in the night. It has never frozen once. Never blue screened. Runs super fast. Is incredibly sufficient. And video games look very good. Never gets hot at all, legit AT ALL. It's always as cool as a cucumber. I could use this laptop for the next 7 years, my mate's didn't even last 2. So the moral of the story is, don't listen to dickheads who think they know what they are going on about in a UA-cam video, and always know that nothing is always as it seems. Our laptops were a measly few hundred bucks difference. For an extra 300 I could have gotten 12 cores instead of 6 and an RTX 3050 instead of a GTX 1650. It was a happy accident. It is when I learned how lucky I was. Educate yourselves. And don't listen to absolute idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
