If your your empty truck is 6500 and your empty trailer is 5700 you are at 12,200lbs. At this point you are over your gcvwr by 2200lbs. Add anything to your truck, such as fuel, tools, people etc, and load your trailer up and you will be much more over your gcvwr.
It's simple: a Dodge/Chevy1500 Truck can HAUL 1,500 pounds MAX and the manufacturer allow 5,000 trailer with it... OR it can TOW 10,000 pounds MAX and the manufacturer allow 500 pounds of cargo to go with...BUT NOT BOTH (give or take 1-2k pounds for cab,, bed gear ratio, drivetrain/powertrain configurations). If you do both you are well over the GCWR
So we have a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L V8 Crew Cab 2WD. We are wanting to get a travel trailer and trying to determine how much weight we can pull. Our specs from the sticker on the door of our truck. Curb Wt=4982, GVWR= 6900, GCWR=15000. So what we figured was our Gross Vehicl Wt= Vehicle 4982+Passengers 500+fuel 144+Cargo 200= 5826 so we are good and under our GVWR of 6900. So does this mean that if I subtract my GVW of 5826 from the GCWR of 15000 which comes out to 9174. Is that the max weight I can tow? The trailer I want to purchase has a dry weight of 7069lbs and a GVWR 8815.
thats correct. As long as your tongue weight doesnt overload your max grawr (gross rear axle weight rating.) You can figure that a tongue type trailer will put about 15% the total trailer weight on the truck. This is about 1375lbs for your trailer. Also it depends on how much you load into your trailer and how it is distributed.

I'm pretty sure if your not for hire and the vehicle doesn't have air brakes you don't need a cdl but I could be wrong probably depends on the state your in
Tag it for 26,000. But CDL ain't that hard to get. All you got to do is learn to drive of real and pass a real driving test. Not the test they claim is a driving test you took when you was 16.

That's not always the case. Always check your owner's manual. My Toyota 4runner has a GCVWR of 11,300 lb and 5,000 lb of towing capacity and 6,300 lb of GVWR. Is this case my GCVW is combination of total trail weight with the vehicle fully loaded.

The manufacturers up until very recently have made this stuff stupidly hard to figure out. For example, I just got a used '17 Ford F-350 SRW. I've looked at probably 3 different PDFs direct from Ford about what ratings my truck has, and they all conflict. One says I should be able to tow 20,600 5th wheel/gooseneck with my GVWR rating; another PDF from the same year says I barely touch 17,000. Without having officially weighed the truck empty with just me and fuel, I know what it says on the door jamb for GVWR, GAWRs, and payload. I'll thumb through my manual again to try and find the "official" GCWR, but seriously, all this looking for what should be SUPER easy to find (given that so many people think they can just go buy any 3/4 or 1-ton and have max payload) is absurd. It gets worse when you're trying to shop for a truck with the right amount of payload and towing, too, because sales guys know even less than you do and care about selling *A* truck, not a truck with exactly what you need. At least for 2019 and up, I can say good on ya to GM and FCA - GM for putting ALL the info on ONE sticker, in ONE place; and to FCA for their wicked awesome online VIN tool that tells you exactly what your specific truck can payload and tow AS OPTIONED, all the way back to 2009.

2016 F350 Crew Cab Long Bed Dual wheel 4X4 3.73 Axle . Published GCVR is 32,100. Publish Max fifth wheel towing Capacity is 23,500. my truck weighs 8786 from door sticker ( GVWR 14000 maximum paylod capacity from sticker 5314). 23500 +8786 = 32,386 which is over the GCVR I would have to take the bumper off and let the truck drive itself not to be violation the published weights if pulling maximum published fifth wheel weight . Can someone explain this to me.

I thought if you buy a car anyway the weight of empty car without passenger is including all 5 wheels. When you buy truck or any other car weight is already with all what you got in this car (except any extra options, if you don’t want to buy regular car). TIP: Strong winds make those rolling billboards hazardous. West Texas wind can lay a 18h wheeler on its side.

I wouldn't tow ANYTHING with a 4runner. Great vehicles but not for towing.

He is correct. You add the curb weight (unladen) of the TV to the maximum trailer weight to get your combined GVWR. Not the GVW from the door jamb.
