Smaller pans + more shades = greater likelihood that I'll actually use most of these up before I get bored and toss the palette! Love your style with this video! Thank you!
Back in Ye Olden Dayes over at makeup alley, we used the term "lemming" for products that we all ran over the cliff for together. The Ethereal palette is a classic example: I think we were all waiting to be transported, and it dropped right in the middle of the Sephora sale, and we were all so primed to run right over the edge, holding hands. No shame in getting caught up in the moment; I just have to laugh a little at the textbook lemming. Verb: to lem. Example: I'm lemming that new Makeup by Mario palette so hard, but I'm going to hold off until Amanda reviews it.
23:37 You can revive old eyeshadow palettes with Duraline (even make them into cream pigments): This transparent liquid can be mixed with any makeup product to prolong its durability and to transform it into a waterproof formulation. A drop of Duraline will enhance its color and make the product last longer. Duraline can easily transform any eye shadow into a liquid eyeliner. There are videos about the different uses of Duraline. You can also read the reviews of people who have bought the product.
Duraline has really saved me! I'm on a very restricted income at the mo due to a chronic health condition and have had to give up several hobbies/interests due to my illness or lack of funds. To be able to revive my old but gorgeous palettes and eyeliners is just wonderful, and it means I can continue to use makeup as a source of joy, self-expression and escapism during a very difficult time in my life. That means the world to me! I've also been able to breathe new life into second hand palettes from friends or even eBay (as long as you sterilise them properly beforehand.) Even if you aren't as broke as me, no one likes having to throw away a favourite palette, and I'm sure most people want to save money and reduce waste as much as possible :) definitely worth a shot, and you can often pick it up in sales or on offer if you shop around :)
I really love viseart. I moved all the shades around in that neutral pallet so I can use larger brushes, and it's my go-to face and eye everything pallet. Also, I can always do my friend's eyebrows, no matter what color best suits them. The petite pro line is better for non-makeup artists. So easy to make your own custom pallets, and they're *indestructible* for travel.
I actually got the Florasis goddess palette for my birthday (as a self love gift to myself) and it sits on my altar as a work of art and makeup. One of my favorites and I adore how multi use the palette is, I have even used one of the shades as a lip color (use at your own discretion of course)
I loved this declutter :) I had the Revlon cream palettes 20 years ago (!!!) when I was a makeup artist and lived in New York, this brought me back memories. I remember I loved them but no one talked about them, they are definitely underrated.
Chanel eyeshadow quads were the worst eyeshadow I’ve ever tried. The old wet n wild shadows are better than Chanel. I’ve never returned anything so fast
Are you kidding? I have the mauvy-plum-pink-white palette, and I love it! I use a good neutral eyelid primer, and it probably helps that I bought it with a Sephora gift card from a very generous friend. It has a satiny-velvety sheen that I've not seen in any other shadow line.
@@MyCleverHandle I have to say, I've been shocked by how many people I've heard dislike Chanel quads recently. I haven't purchased one in years, but I have consistently purchased their singles, cream, & liquid shadows. IMO, they're great🤷🏻♀️. One of my G.O.A.T. shadows, is a wet/dry baked-gelée single shadow in a warm silver w/a touch-of-green shade. I wonder if the quality has worsened🤔? I know they've been reformulating en masse, across all of their formula types, in the past few years. The only dud products I ever purchased from CC were limited edition.
My first two quads I owned (1980) were one of Dior and one of Chanel. The Chanel one I couldn't make work, really chalky. So dissapointing! The Dior one I kept for 25 years and tried before throwing it out, was still as good as on the 1st day. Having no mattes and very strong colours ánd me in my late fourties it had to go.😊
@@NatalieValentina6 I wonder if we're buying palettes made in different factories, like there's a manufacturing problem no one's talking about? Hey, well, I'll hang onto mine since it's apparently such a rarity. 😉😜
Hey Amanda, very excited about this declutter series! I saw the Florasis palette and gasped. Please review that on your channel! The packaging is stunning. Thank you 😊
There is a Florasis palette I am eyeing it… it is all neutral on the cool side (name?) 5-6 colors. So pretty. I’m just wondering if it’s the keeled box it is in that I really want? 😅
Great decluttering! If you can, give the Persona identity a try before you declutter. It’s amazing! The shimmers are so creamy and elegant! The mattes are perfection!
I agree! It’s my favorite everyday palette and I have several ND, PM and Lisa Eldridge palettes. It’s definitely my #1 “if I lost all my makeup what would I purchase first” palette.
The persona palettes are so unassuming at first glance yet stunning upon application and very easy to use. I’m not the greatest with blending, but that formula feels like it blends itself.
@@stephaniec4766 Sona the brand owner has some really great tutorials on her channel. I love her look that she created using Zendayas Oscar look as inspiration. Also Mandy Lea really likes it.
Just wanted to say that you give the BEST eyeshadow recommendations. I’ve recently picked up CT oyster pearl & a couple of the Lorac mini pro palettes. I am completely in love with all of them! I’m so glad I finally found an amazing creator who loves cool toned eyeshadow & focuses on stellar formulas. Thank you!♥️
From what I remember, a lot of the buzz from the early 2000s about the baked formula, was that it can be used wet and dry. We would start out dry, wet the brush with water and then use it wet to add an intensity to the lash line, or in the centre of the lid etc. or, alternatively, we’d start with it wet to create a base, then pat it dry over the top to make it last ALLLL day. Baked blushes are still amazing for mixing in the palm of your hand with a moisturiser or face oil to create a ‘glow from within’ .
Viseart neutral matts- is the best palette for me, love it sooo much!!! Mine is almost done because l use it every time when l do my makeup, almost every day... 🤗👍❤️
Thank you for your reviews . You are always spot on . I am not ashamed to admit that before I buy any make up product , I check your UA-cam channel to see what your opinion is!You are awesome Amanda!!😊
Hi! New subbie here! You have a beautiful collection and enjoyed your declutter! I loved how you took the time to swatch and explain why you declutted or kept. Looking forward to watching more of your videos! Great job!
Thank you for this great declutter. I was surprised by some of your declutter selections … and not by others. Your video is inspiring me to do a declutter of my own.
Make your own Franken-palette combining the best parts of those 2 Pat McGrath palettes! Also consider trying the Persona Identity palette. It’s so so good!
Thank you for this tour through your palettes! I e been watching UA-cam for decades and your channel gives me the best viewpoint of shades and finishes. I get my best ideas from here and make my best declutter/go-buy-that-instead decisions. Thank you so much!! Love your taste and your advice!
I bought a couple of those mini and really enjoy swapping around shades. One thing I found is you need a juicy primer. Only matte pallet I own that can handle a glitter glue and still blend evenly
Thank you so much for this Amanda. I’m about to undergo this process myself. I’m ashamed to say I have at least as many pallets as you’ve just gone through, if not more. In my case it was the result of getting back into makeup after some years and using trial and error in my buying. Now I know better what I like and what suits I can avoid this over purchasing situation in future - hopefully 🤞

On your recommendation I purchased two of the Lorac Mini Pro palettes 🥰. I don’t have a need for large scale or too many eye shadow palettes, but your description of Lorac’s quality was inspiring! THANK YOU. I got Mystic Oak and Frosted Sequoia and couldn’t be more pleased. They’ll also give me everything I need while on vacation. 🥰✨✨
Maybe you've been asked this before, but have you ever tried Looxi or Terra moon eyeshadows? I recently started exploring those indie brands and my god! I have a taste very similar to yours and they have really impressed me.
I'm in the UK so I don't use those brands, but am trying small UK indie brands and doubt I'll ever buy a mainstream palette again🤣 The Pastel Roses are my absolute favourite so far💜
Watching this declutter, I can’t help but think you would really like the Chantecaille eye duo palette in Monte Carlo and Tibet. It’s a gorgeous formula that’s sparkly and wet looking. Have you tried these?

I was just googling wet look eyeshadows online. I thought I'd cruise around the web looking at what was available. I came across the Romand Better Than Palette in 00 Light and Glitter Garden. I think it is the same collection that you have the cool toned one from...theis one is all shimmers though...looks super pretty. I'm not sure of the formula but I think I might give it a go.
Love Amanda, love the channel, but i absolutely hate swatches on the palm of the hands, all the colors look the same and everything looks shiny and wet, even if it's a matte shadow.
I'm a recent subscriber, and I just want to say how much I've been enjoying your channel. You have a way of being laid back but still very entertaining, and I love your in-depth descriptions. That said, comparing some palettes to Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century? You have my sword AND my axe.
I totally agree with you that Lorac Noir is a great palette! Truly one of my favorites, along with the ND Glam… I am so glad you’re keeping ND mini gold! It’s one of my favorite ND minis, and what you said is spot on-the mini palettes are a great way to discover ND formula for a reasonable price and I also agree they are not talked about enough!! I have several minis.. the only one I don’t reach for much is Mini Star-I’m not even sure why I got those because the colors are just ok. I may actually use ALL of the Mini Gold, wouldn’t that be amazing! Lorac should be more talked about as I love the Soleil and Fairytale Forest but the colors do look very, very similar!
I was shocked to hear you say your nails were not doing well! That very moment I was thinking, I would love for her to come out with a nailcare video! I thought they looked lovely! I will be adding Dior nailglow to my Sephora cart 😂
Regarding the Viseart palette, Morgan Turner did the prettiest bridal look on her channel using only that palette, it has become one of my go to looks, easy but elegant. It’s a great all matte palette.
What i love about declutter videos is that we can see what you really love and really want to keep. My weakness is lip products. I have entirely too many. I might need professional help 🙂
I'd join you if it was group therapy. 😅 Sometimes I've counted over 15 lip products just in my purse 😳 I attempted to count everything in my collection last year and stopped at 150. It's a sickness that didn't even slow down during covid masks 😵💫 I feel ya!
So funny, I happened to put Golden Mink on today and was reminded how subtly shimmery the non-toppers are. I still agree it’s not a must, but I’m curious if you applied on the eyes. So different from swatching for me.
Honestly if you wanted to have a battle of the eyeshadow palettes kind of thing, where you put these pairings up against each other, I would totally be up for that.
I have the Dior Soft Cashmere… unfortunately it ended up being a regret for me… the colors all look the same on me, kind of like muddy I guess you might say. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong with that one. I also have one called Nude Dress… I wanted that one so much and there are only two colors I ever use from that.
Declutter the Viseart. I was a MUA for a couple years and thought I’d get so much use out of it for bridal/headshots l- but it always felt a little off with every look. I reached for the Anastasia palettes much more often!
I'm fed up with too many eyeshadows and especially with the glittery ones that end up all over my face. I had a small collection, 6 pallets only but in the end, I created one with 14 pans. With my green eyes, I still find it tricky to find the colours that emphasise them, that's why I got into buying different pallets. But now I think I do have a good pallet that I will use every day.
@amanda z Mystic Oak is absolutely stunning! (My new fave) I also grabbed Frosted Sequoia & it’s amazing. I kinda want the other 2 just because I love the ones I have so much.🏆
Have you tried any Alter Egos” Eye Shadow palettes? They are an affordably priced palettes and they are all vegan and cruelty-free. The only luxury palettes that entice me are Tom Ford and Viseart.
Hi i am afraid if your looking for for a shimmer eyeshadow and you have pat mcgrath are you comparing other palettes next to hers ? because if you are then its fatal you will never find any shimmer to compare , i have several of Tom Ford and i have no problem with the shimmers being lovely and bright and shimmering, i actually gave away my mothership because it creased on my eyelids , along with four quads , i would rather spend my money on Tom Ford any day ! i have Charlotte Tilbury which i adore i think i have the most palettes i know i have all her holiday palettes which are stunning , but nothing like pat mcgrath . you could try Suqqu thats a beautiful brand !
Smaller pans + more shades = greater likelihood that I'll actually use most of these up before I get bored and toss the palette! Love your style with this video! Thank you!

Same here, I was wondering if i do something wrong. Can't get more than two looks out of it, and these are even similar.
Declutter the Viseart. I was a MUA for a couple years and thought I’d get so much use out of it for bridal/headshots l- but it always felt a little off with every look. I reached for the Anastasia palettes much more often!
Maybe you’re not a good MUA. Viseart is one of the best eye shadow formulas around.
Damn you, i HAD to go and pick up a dior quint because of this video 😂😂
are you having a blog sale?
I think you should declutter , I think it was the Viseart palette, because they don't look like shades you will reach for.
Come through with the video ideas cuz they sounded like winners 🥇🎉
I have tried a LOT of eyeshadow formulas and I ended up chucking out my only Chanel quad. It was terrible.

Did that Morphe palette have mold?
I had no idea Ethereal Eyes was no longer available. Why...everyone wanted it!
