What’s sad is a man who’s so intimidated by the power she has to motivate young people to vote that he spends so much time trying to invalidate a person who’s never done anything to him personally. Imagine if someone did that to one of his daughters.
I think in this sense she meant she felt she wasn’t allowed to have opinions, in reality taylor was extremely young and that’s unfair for any person, to be forced into a spotlight where if you make one wrong move, your career could end.
It would help if she actually said that. I don't know how you mix up 'force opinions on others' and 'have opinions' and how that mix up can go through every producer/editor of this documentary- either everyone is dumb and doesn't know how words work (possible) or she really doesn't think forcing opinions on people is bad (also possible). Either way they're making me sad for the world.
Though I could see the possibility of those she worked with saying something like she can't have opinions, or do this/that to be popular/ don't be yourself, didn't she write all/most of her songs? I remember that being a selling point about TSwift that people bragged about. How would it be possible for her opinions to not be part of the music career she writes for? Were there songs she didn't get to write because there was some meanie standing over her saying 'use these words, not those?' I always thought that she was super privileged as a singer, to actually write her own songs. Since so many solo artists as far as I knew back when she was getting popular, were clearly just singing what was handed to them. Idk two things can be true at once of course. There's probably mean people in the business. But I feel like it didn't hold her back as much as she wants people to think.

I'm don't even like Taylor Swift, but record labels and the music industry controlling and taking advantage of young artists is an extremely well known problem.
Dozens and dozens of musicians have talked about this issue and they make artists do far more than say "please and thank you." People are taken advantage of in the music industry, that's why so many young, famous musicians develop mental and social problems.
Every artist has gone through this. It's the same story over and over again. No one cares anymore.
