Awesome show, amazing attention to detail. The end scene of the Somme now is correct; I was there in May 2023 and it's green fields and so peaceful. You'd never think 100 odd years ago it was muddy fields.
What a fantastic series...An emotional rollercoaster which encompasses all that it meant to be a Digger... Well done to all who made it possible...
A wonderful tv series, extremely well written and acted. The end showing the Somme as today was truly moving. Thank you so much for uploading.
Shows the Aussies in a good light a great piece of TV
One of the best mini-series of all time. I’d be proud to be an Aussie if I was one. My family fought in the American trenches. But fight they did. In every war from the Revolutionary war, the war of 1812, the civil war, the Spanish war, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, And Afghanistan. War is Hell but when called we answer. Always have, always will.
check out war is a racket by smedley butler..... just google war is a racket by smedley butler... you can watch it on youtube
Outstanding on all counts
Great that the series highlights the genius of Lt-General Monash! His coordination of artilliery, airforce, tanks and infantry was key in winnng the war! The CHOOMS adopted for the smashing of the Hindenberg Line!
The last 20 minutes - I was in tears.
RIP also to all the actors and actresses here who are no longer with us and were taken too young. A well told story by lovely people of almost 40 years ago and events over 100 years ago.
In tribute to this Australian version of the immortal theme of "this Band of Brothers", some words from someone who was fully qualified in the determination of those meriting such honors.
Shakespeare said that any man looking back at the days of his youth would regret "never having been a soldier or never having been to sea". If you've served, you know what he meant, and if you didn't you would never understand.
55.35 My Dad is the German prisoner who keeps turning around... My photo of him in this uniform is one of my most treasured memories... Love you Dad, rest mate....
An excellent Series. Hadn't heard of it before. What a waste of young men in this war and all wars. Disgusting. Thank you from Canada!!
Awesome mini series. Have watched it twice over the years. WW1 was such a horrible waste of human life brought on by the rich & elite that accomplished nothing other than pave the way for WW2.
Excellent series, bloody shit of a war.
We will remember them.
Lest we Forget
This is about the Australian Army Corps .. not the ANZACS .. there is no New Zealand representation or acknowledgment, as per all movies, SKY tv or documentaries.
Read the most decorated marine general Smedley butler's book. War is a racket. He woke up to the truth of his duty for his country.
If you got through to here and didn't watch that terrible edited movie I'm sure you would have enjoyed it. Top rate Aussie series. The edited movie version should be taken down. It's a complete mess and should never have been uploaded.
OLD MEN ALWAYS SENDING YOUNG MEN TO DIE.DISCUSTING.
we dont know were born.
I remember watching this as a kid in the eighties.
Up until then, we knew nothing of our diggers in the first world war besides Gallipoli. This show shed light on an unlearned history. Amazing what the producers achieved.
RIP Jon Blake and Megan Williams, taken too early.
