As a Singaporean living overseas, I really enjoyed watching you explore the local places without a pre-conceived notion of how that place ought to be portrayed. Missing cai tao kuey now!
During the Japanese Occupation of Singapore this area was an entertainment centre for the Japanese troops. The food centre in the Beauty Centre you should try the herbal mutton soup. The chinese Temple used to provide cremation service. The HDB area was once a small hill with kampongs.
Wow the quarry looks unbelievable…stunning view of the nature. Amazed every time to see the diversity that Singapore offers.
Great video Ghib! I was born in Singapore and moved to Perth, australia in 1985. There are Sooo many places i havent been so i love watching your food adventure videos. One thing i try and do when i'm back there on holidays is pick out an MRT station and go visit and explore. Much like you did here. Keep up the great content. Arigato :-)
CHEERS and hello to this channel!
You can never go wrong with Al-Azhar, plenty of variety!
また、住みたい街がふえてしまいました! 自然があって、ホーカーズもあって、いいところですねー。😍 ダーツの旅シリーズ次回も楽しみ!😘
You should break it down into 3 parts - 1) nature reserve, 2) HDB heartland 3) private luxurious living.
Man, spent a large portion of my life here. lived and studied nearby. had countless suppers here.
take care ghib ojisan..your channel makes the mundane interesting..thank you so much
Ghib-san, you can get Asao-san (before he returns Japan, and since he's already well-trained tracking long distance on foot in the jungle during NS) to join you on hiking trips in Singapore, can try the 14km (3hr) route starting from Caldecott Mrt>MacRitchie Reservoir Park>Prunus Trail>Peirce Track>Pipeline Trail>Rifle Range Road>Pipeline Trail>Catchment Path>Bukit Timah Hill Main Road>Bukit Timah Hill Summit>Beauty World Mrt, then finish off eating again at Bukit Timah Food Centre (maybe review the "Butakin" hawker ramen stall).
You can also hike the 13km (3hr) route from Marsiling Mrt>Woodlands Ave 3>Pipeline Trail along BKE>Passing SLE>Crossing Mandai Road>Passing BKE>Passing KJE>Zhenghua Nature Park>Passing Dairy Farm Road>Rifle Range Road (end of Pipeline Trail)>Durian Loop>Beauty World Mrt, then end off with hearty meal again at Bukit Timah Food Centre or further down Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre.
Hello Ghib! Really enjoy watching your videos and you've just explored my neighborhood! It seems like the timing you went to the hawker centre, not many stalls were opened. Though I've never tried the satay bee hoon, I hear and see that many people are always queuing for it. Further down, there's Bukit Timah Plaza, at the basement, there's a dessert shop Le Tian Tian which sells nice desserts like peach gum and mango pudding. Thank you for showcasing my neighborhood. Please come back again! :)
Thanks for this clip which bring back memory of my kampong days I stayed in this area from 1963 for 10 years at Jalan Jurong Kechil, Toh Yi Drive when it was indicated as Track 1 behind the Buddhist Temple and roam around Rifle Range, Hindhede Quarry when it was a kampong with red mud road, small streams, Bukit Timah Hill and the railway tracks. Daily at about noon and 5pm dynamites were detonated to get the granites at the quarry.
Hi Ghib, Beauty world is one area I visited almost every week, when i was living in Singapore, right at the Beauty world center, for the foot massages and the hawker food ! Love watching all your food adventures! Really looking forward to visit again and try out all the places that I never knew existed, especially the Japanese restaurants you recommended!
This is a really chill neighbourhood, one of the older ones around with all the best parts of old school cool. And it's very lively too, thanks to many nearby schools/higher education
Love roti prata extremely very much.
I used to came wif my mum to visit the clinic beauty World around there.
After she passed away,I missed her and the place .
Ghib, cool idea for series! You should come to Pasir Ris! Will be happy to show you around!
Love the idea! Singapore is quite small though, so you might want to print a bigger map for the "dart".
This is a fun journey! So many things to see at one location! Hill, railway track, yummy foods, quarry, monkeys, houses, greenery and temples
I live in this area and is very familiar. You have randomly visited some interesting places but also missed many. Should come again and go deeper into each place to explore more. If you go further North , its Bukit Panjang area and further South is the heart of Bukit Timah residential area...many many places to explore here.
My house overlooks the hill and my favourite sight is the misty hill in the morning :) monkeys are vicious when there is a baby around tho! Hahah if you have time you should visit the Singapore quarry, it’s next door behind rail mall and I love it more than the hindhede one :D
Love your channel! A very interesting mix of food reviews and lifestyle in Singapore! Thanks for bring us around sg with your interesting vids. I laughed at the chicken asking you to eat boon tong kee 🤣
Yesss!! Glad you had all my fav eats in the area! But there's still so much that you missed!
Fun fact about beauty world! It used to be the Orchard Rd of Singapore in the 80s! And way before that during the Japanese Occupation, it was an amusement park!
The bridge that is connected to Beauty World Centre also leads to the future treetop walk. Good reason to come back and explore when it opens 😁
If you go up to Blk 9 Toh Yi Drive, you'll be able to see the whole view of Bukit Timah Hill! 👍👍
Brilliantly done. A serious on the different neighbourhoods is always a good idea. I know Bukit Timah is not your first, and I'm really hoping it's not your last neighbourhood to check out. Please carry on your journey!
Voice sounding so good now! Cheers on the great introduction and content!
The Buddhist temple looks artistic and zen. And also the interesting food over there in Singapore!
Nice adventure to central prestige bukit timah area ! Good intro to beauty world amd the vicinity areas.
Since now is CNY festive season, go visit bye major housing estates central like Ang Mo Kio, Bedok and Toa Payoh or even Tampines and Yishun where large cny vibe runs through them until Cny eve. Dont miss this annual treat as a few days left to chinese new year.! Happy visiting and dining! Cheers!
that is literally the best ban mian in Singapore, hands down!
wah lao eh, i was hopping for the dart to land in Tekong island 😂
Ghib in Tekong would make an interesting video.
You could try walking from rifle range road to macritchie reservoir via the nature reserve( check Nparks map) or walk down the whole length of the rail corridor southwards and you can visit many HDB estates along the way but best to do it on a bike.
街中からすぐの所にお猿さんがたくさんいて驚きです🐒
シンガポール、魅力的なエリアが多すぎます😆
Cool Vid Ghib..Yeah it's a nice area my MIL lives there.
Ghib should be made STB ambassador to Japan
I miss Bukit Timah. I used to hang around there so often for snooker and LAN games.
Nice video 👍🙂 thank for sharing.
i love you bro! keep it up
街並み 食 風景 動物
こんかいとっても
エキサイティング✌
One of the places I explored before leaving Singapore. Should have visited this side of Singapore more often.
What a great game to play! I will do it too! So bored in Singapore. Going crazy!
Al azhar is the like the town hall for all Bukit Timah residents, everyone will see everyone there.
WOW! Awesome video Bro.. love it
another great uplodad!
Ojisan, welcome to Bukit Timah,my hometown
This is where my secondary school(Toh Tuck Secondary School) used to be. The Hawker center has transformed many times and the Famous Chai Tao Kuay used to be facing the big carpark next to the main road in the past. Too many great food in this hawker center, Satay Bee Hoon, NgoHiong Bee Hoon, Nyonya Chendol, traditional Soy Bean(Only in the morning) and Try out a fruitdrink stall that sells Bua Long Long drink. Will be very interesting..
昔日本のTV番組でもダーツ旅やってたね~あと個人的には動画の前半に出てきたインド料理のホーカーズのお好み焼きみたいなやつとバターチキンにはひかれたな👍️
you go experience Skyville@Dawson ..awesome views
luv your vids
what a huge portion..a corner of it would fill me up..haha..how is that u make everything look so delicious..
It's a pity you didn't get to try He Zhong, it's really one of the best carrot cakes in Singapore! Do give it a visit another day
heys you should explore the whole green corridor, to kranji. at kranji there are trees like in Japan
the shinto shrine is nearby, at bukit batok west, it is hard to find.
Try Enishi at International Plaza. Cant wait to see you try its Dan Dan Noodles!!!
Very smooth advertisement hahaha
It doesn't matter where it lands. Its Singapore. I even cycled the entire small island by myself. It's not like neighbouring countries like Malaysia or Indonesia 😅
Holy Noodle, look so yummy!!
Ahh… did you check out Carpenter & Cook and Kim’s Korean Restaurant? The former, if I recall correctly, is a cafe that also makes and sells the furniture in it. The latter serves really good Korean food-I’d recommend visiting in a group of four to really try a variety of their food.
懐かしい(T_T)17年ほど前にあのエリアに住んでいました。
あの頃はMRTも通ってなくて駅もなかったけど、お寺とかホーカーとかよく行きました。
レポート、ありがとう。
Hi Ghib,,, I hope u doing well,,, wow that hindhede quarry seems very beautiful ,,, nice food too,,, i laughed when i saw u talk to that chicken 🤣,,, omoroi ya anta Ghib 🤣,, saru wa kowai kedo ne,,, houjicha ice cream oishi so ne,, nice vlog as always, good job to wife too,, Huat Ah Ghib,,, Otsukaresama deshita,,, 👍😎😇🍺😁
Jepun lang Ghib bro, the korean food in that area is nice as well!
Hey Ghib san, is the pineapple huat ah t shirt a new merch? When will you be launching that? Definitely interested!
if only it was Pulau Tekong. I'm sure you'd love the food
Pulau Tekong is an army camp. The food is army food. It is meant as a joke. Ha ha.
Just about what I was thinking... Tekong. Maybe 19 yrs later...if u have a son enlisting and wishing ur channel can go on for another 20 years
This is a well taken video with the wifey as your walking/eating partner and videographer. Maybe one fine day she'll decide to appear on screen that will be a special event haha! I've been to these areas before but it feels different through the lens. Thank you for sharing.
The train started from Tanjung Pagar railway station & goes to Woodlands before crossing the Causeway to Johor Bahru 😁
Even this was one yr ago, love it.
It'll be entertaining if u could also do a video on how u spend ur LNY. During visiting especially to ur very kind and cute inlaws, do u give and also receive angbows. Ur willingness to blend into different cultures in SG is making u being welcoming as one of us. Huat ah.
@@GhibOjisan oh..it's ok la, u must hv ur reasons. Maybe one day u could also try to do a challenge like Zermatt, something within ur limits without compromising ur health. Happy LNY.
Really like your video, you are funny. 😁👍👍
As a person who studied in ngee ann poly all these sights were very familiar to me 😄
Get well soon Ghib!
oh noo u misseed the best foods at the bukit timah market and food centre:((
the he zhong carrot cake is best, and the satay bee hoon
Ai ya, u missed so many good food just behind you ... Beauty World Plaza top floor open air food centre : Behind your noodle stall is the famous fried kway teow, further 1st row is a new bak kut teh kL style and fried porridge . The prata stall you had, has a very popular vinegar pig trotter and fish soup. The Hawker center you missed is where the forever famous Satay Bee Hoon, Mutton Soup, Fish soup, pork satay, oyster omelet. The chinese temple you went, down the lane has many Korean eateries, Little Korea is there .... You need one whole day to explore ... :D
Next time should try climbing the Bukit Timah hill, you will love it 😊
@@GhibOjisan yes, I think that's the hill that you always point to and say it's Malaysia 😂 It is the tallest point in Singapore geographically
Take care Ghib 👍🏻
Ghib you missed the chili (30c per saucer) which pack a punch but so flavourful too. Do revisit Top1 and order with chili. Their Tom Yam soup noodle is also very unique (not the Thai style Tom Yam).
13:56 typical singaporean aunty dont care if you are ghib ojisan or her son 🥲
NO MIXXXX AHHHH!!!
Little Seoul is near to Beauty World at Bukit Timah Plaza.
Hi Ghib! Hope all your wishes come true!
Good video. Ghib, at this rate, you may be appointed Japanese Ambassador to SG one day. 😀 Can I suggest an episode to Pulau Ubin?
Nice Video
Take care and get well soon
Noooooo Ghib, that was exactly where I hope you'd go. You did go to the temple but you didn't go in? There'll be a notice to say how during the war tge japanese soldier chased some people but the moment they all went into this temple, the soldiers dropped their weapons and lives were spared. From this temple just 5 minutes walk, you cross Jalan Jurong Kechil, you'll see old shop houses. URA wanted to demolish them but Dr Cheong from Cheong clinic produced documented evidence that those shop houses were used as comfort homes for the Japanese troops with comfort women checking in for work with their names. Do it again!
You can visit the old Ford Factory at Bt Timah next time.
Haha u shd run or cycle at the rail corridor all the way to tanjong pagar and do a vid of the sights along the way
Hi great videos in Singapore and in Europe.
What would help more elderly or disabled if you gave approximate distances you walk. It's hard to tell. Even a 2 second flash of a ramp or a pavement would help. Very few videos show these things. Entrances to buildings can put people from planning to go in. Thanks
Get well soon
I thought you are referring to a world map 😁
Saw your appearance in the cny tv video
salted caramel, beside udders is better imo haha. you should try it
Rain is the best time to travel in Singapore.
1:33 I’m amazed at how I could instantly tell the location even though I’ve only been to beauty world once
Hmm, I wonder why you and your wife didn't go to Bukit Timah Plaza. Anyways, Bt. Timah has many hidden gems.
If you had travelled a little further, Dairy Farm Nature Park is also rather nice. Visit also the former Ford Factory. The Rail Mall is also somewhere around the corner.
Question for Ghib: Is your wife helping you out full-time? Seems like she has been your camera-lady most of the time.
U choose your locations these few days, after that can go out. Take care ghib.
湖がほんと神秘的ですね。ダーツの旅おもしろいからまたやってほしい。猿がナッツ投げてきたら「このボケェ!」て言いながら思いっきり投げ返してほしかったです
Oh no you got curry on your white T-shirt @2:34!!
パイナップル満載の貨物列車やオリエンタルエキスプレスが走っていたのを覚えています。便利になるのはいいけどあまり開発しないでほしいかな。ブキティマターフクラブはオサレなレストランもありましたよ。
What if the dart land on pulau bukom
..and please update us on how you are..ok..thank you very much..when u feel better
Hungry 🤤🤤🤤
Didn't fancy going up Bukit Timah Hill then?
It’s so cool that your wife doesn’t mind exploring places with you (on foot!) and even being your videographer. Good idea on a series exploring the neighbourhoods! Btw if you haven’t removed the curry stain on your shirt, rub some Mama Lemon on it 😂
Yeah she’s really chill and supportive! Can’t believe you noticed the curry stain 😁
