- A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... I interviewed one of my favorite musicians of all time, the king of funk: Maceo Parker. This was in the year 2000, and it was one of my first interviews, I was having a panick attack just before I was so nervous... And then Maceo arrived on stage and I immediately felt better realizing he was as nervous as I was (musicians usually prefer playing onstage rather than doing interviews). I asked if he could play sax at the beginning of the interview and he said no. Then later on, he realized I really dug his music and was interested in his actual playing and technique, he then actually played a few licks to demonstrate what we were talking about... I was soooo thrilled, I'll remember this all my life! That was 21 years ago OMG!!!!!

I discovered Maceo just two years ago and can’t figure out why I missed his career. I think he and his band are great!

@@percyvolnar8010 Actually no. The false fingering on A can be reproduced to some effect on other notes but it's not really possible to get that particular effect on all notes. It's just the harmonic mechanics of the instrument.
It's known as HONKING.
