I discovered phantom after I lost my father and this song was the first song I found that really captured the true feeling of trying to move on and Sierra embodies it so well
My father isn't dead, but I'm so close with him that I'll be devastated when he dies. I'll most likely be listening to this song a lot when that time comes. I want to spend as much time as I can with him because I know that he won't be here forever. My dad was born in 1955 and I was born 30 years later in 1985. I think 30 is a nice age to have a child because it's not too old of an age or too young. I'm his last and youngest child.
She sets the bar so high it makes it nearly, if not impossible for anyone else to reach that wow factor when singing this song or playing this role. She's. So. Good.
Waves of goose pimples are breaking out all over from my legs to my eyeballs from the voice of this fabulous woman. Sing to me Sierra, oh yes my darling, sing into my heart. I am crushed that I will never have you in my arms. Lord have mercy on my soul. In other words, this girl can sing!
In case you've missed it, hear Sierra sing Tonight from West Side Story with Julian Ovenden; on you-tube the title is The Broadway Sound: West Side Story (Balcony Scene)--BBC Proms 2012. There, at Royal Albert Hall in front of a full orchestra, she becomes the best, the most enchanting Maria I've ever seen! And I've loved that show for over 50 years. Sierra Boggess is a marvel! (You'll thank me later--) :)
Sierra is the absolute BEST Christine! She has an amazing singing voice, and she's the only actress (so far) who's been able give a character as boring and bland as Christine an actual personality. Brilliant. 😍
Christine isnt boring or bland . shes brave, bold, deep, and grieving and talented. she literally uses herself as bait in point of no return. shes torn between two people she loves for different reasons and in the end makes the mature choice.
Sierra sings this with more intensity towards the end than Sarah. Both are superbly performed but different in expression. Sarah has a regal yet sad tone throughout while Sierra’s performance becomes almost angry and defiant towards the end. Different interpretation by two great Christines. Huge fan of this version of course.
Yes,pretty much exactly my same opinion. Both are equally talented-and it takes some doing for someone to sing this nearly as well as Sarah, the person for whom this song was written.
You may have seen it already, but if you haven’t, they recently posted the entire 25th anniversary performance on a UA-cam channel called “the shows must go on.” She’s not as good in that version (she’s matured a lot) but it’s still really good
I think she DOES flesh out the character of Christine a bit more than Sarah.More lively,a bit more fire in places.Sarah is more reserved in the part, which I think suits it better. But I think it has to do with the fact these two women have different personalities.Sierra is the only other one, besides Sarah, that I like playing this role.
No.I have heard and seen a few live performances, and the theatre film version of it, with other performers, where that line is sung twice. But on the original London cast recording, which I have, and the official Vevo video that came out when Phantom came to the U.S,,Sarah sings it only once. Was it changed for the live Broadway shows?
Sierra IS more dramatic with her emotions, while Sarah Brightman is more reserved in her sadness.Their voices are very much alike, but I think that Sarah's version is more fitting to this piece.
@@NOONE-cd4gu Yes,I agree. She needs to use just a bit more restraint in her delivery,a little less raw emotion,a bit smoother-and it would be near perfect.
Okay I just gotta say sometimes when she takes a breath it's really noisy you can really hear her sucking in more air. Gotta do that circular breathing or take it in through her nose. But I adore her and I was not a fan of Phantom because I had heard the soundtrack and didn't really care for it. Then I watched the 25 th anniversary at Royal Albert Hall and while I'm not crazy about the story or all of the songs Sierra was mesmerizing as Christine and she and Ramin are electric together. I enjoyed it because of them, great singing, great acting.
A vocal coach pointed out that very thing, most obvious in the number "Past the point of no return".And I do think Ramin is a good fit for her. but the team of Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford are unbeatable.
her eyes are so expressive omg

Damn it. That comment with this song. Hope you are well.
I totally get that, I discovered it shortly after I lost my mother.

1:42 that's the Sierra we know and love
Christine Sotiriou OH MY GOD YOUR NAME IS CHRISTINE watching phantom must be fun for you 😂
hadiyah hope yes, it is! Phantom was the reason why I loved my name and, believe me, I wish I was Christine on stage too
Christine Sotiriou Yaaaa i wish that too but unfortunately my range is.... nonexistent so that isn't happening in this lifetime
Sierra is amazing her voice is pure velvet
No words can tell how much I live this song, espacially when Sierra sings it
The best Christine ever. A voice truly blessed by none other than God. She and Ramin were off the chart!
CELINDE SCHOENMAKER BLOWS SIERRA OFF THE CHART
Jason Voorhees as do many other Christines

True
Others have done it better tbh

the BEST Christine no doubt
Max Lim I think she’s too mature to play Christine
Max Lim I agree.... this such an emotional rendition
How many Christines have you seen to think that only Sierra gave her round characterization
Beautiful
Wow absolutely amazing , the best cover I've heard
I don't think you can say it's a cover since she played the role of Christine in real :)
Not much of a cover lol
So good!
Why is the video so blurry???
Or is it my tears that cant stop falling ???
Bella ella y su voz! Brava!!!
She does not have the right to make me cry at 9:49 on a Tuesday morning in bed
this is better than the 25th, to be honest
Yes. Her voice has matured so much
I agree
Beautiful singer

Doesnt it start from "You were once my one companion..."
This is a cutted version, because she started the song in French, and it was cut :/

It’s brilliant, but I like her OG version of it more
Amazing! (I still wish she'd sing it as Britney though. That would be a scream.)
Is Sierra the only Christine that sang Help me say goodbye twice? Sarah only sang it once.
Tang Osbert no they re wrote the ending since Sarah has left most Christines say that

Move over, Sarah Brightman. This is Sierra’s song.
Sarah is true Cristine Daee
@@OyolaLuisAlberto Every actresses are Christines, case closed.
Not quite yet.Sarah still rules.
Is it my earphone or is it sierra stretching herself too much towards something resembling dramatic soprano?
She was going more full chest voice rather than singing it in head voice like she normally does

THE only other one to compare to Sarah Brightman, she is that good.But-Sarah still is THE best.
The role of Christine was made for her
🤓 ‘Sarah Brightman’ the literal exwife of Andrew Lloyd Webber
Actually-no,it wasn't.But she DOES do a magnificent job with it.Better than everyone else.Except Sarah,of course.
She’s the second best to Sarah Brightman
Sarah still rules.

Who can forget Sarah in that role? She set the standard, and is still the best at this.
