    I bought the Corel Victory on a whim in 1996. Thought it would probably take me a couple years in my spare time. Was I wrong. 23 years later I’m nowhere near done but I’m happy with what I HAVE done. I sadly realize that I’ll most likely die before finishing.

    I'm no novice. Have recently built the 1:96 scale Cutty Sark and Constitution. But this particular model has frustrated me to no end. Instructions and rigging diagrams that are just simply an abomination. I am overwhelmed with the shear quality of craftsmanship regarding what you've done here. I hope I'll get at least close to what I've seen in this remarkable video.

      Ronnie - I've progressed to the stage of putting in the standing rigging. But I'm really stuck on the E3-E4 standing rigging of the main mast. How on earth did you make those loop-de-loops around those two threads? I've tried everything and keep coming up short. All my best. Bob

    Fantastic & beautiful work. Would love to see a more detailed look at your model. This is my next build and I would be delighted if it turns out this good.

    look mate.... I'm really probably not the most expert professional to say this, but as a serious model enthusiast I can't help but notice things like fast built ratlines not even properly trimmed... you placed the dead eyes upside down (the upper pieces should be set on the tables that's why they have those extensions as you can check your instructions.
    I don't know how well did you manage to follow the instructions as in my case I had to ask for new ones from heller as I couldn't simply read the original ones...

      hallo, PEDRO
      You are right about everything, this was my first plastic model ever, and that was 5 years ago. The modelkit i bought was not complet,no instructions and lots of missing pieces and most of all, i had no experience, so i had to improvise; never the less thank you for your honest reaction

      For someone with no experience, the result is incredible. I'm building a 1/400 Queen Mary from Revell, almost one meter long, but it doesn't even come close to the complexity of your HMS Victory model. Congratulations for your kit, it is gorgeous.

    I build my wooden ship models using plans downloaded from the internet. I use materials like cereal packet cardboard for internal frames, unravelled string for ropes, old copper wire, old cloth for sails , cocktail sticks, coffee stirring sticks purloined from Wetherspoons for planking, anything else useful I can lay my hands on. Much more satisfying turning stuff like this into a realistic looking model. Building models from plastic kits seems like cheating to me.

      Whilst I admire your ingenuity, your criticism of this modelers work, in this forum is disrespectful and as such, not appreciated.

    The Union Jack is upside down.

    • @richardsinger01
      @richardsinger01 5 років тому +1

      Yes and no... at 0:33 we see it from the port side and it’s upside down. At 3:35 we see it from the starboard side and it’s the right way up! That said it’s still a fabulous model. Well done

    • @pmw650
      @pmw650 5 років тому

      @@richardsinger01 The Union Jack should appear the correct way up when viewed from the port side ie when the flag staff is on the left. Top left quadrant of the flag when viewed from the left has the wider white diagonal stripe of the St Andrew's Saltire uppermost.
