I just got a 2595LMT for $134 factory remain, life time map and traffic..... it’s similar to 2555 but has voice commands.... love that feature and one I specifically I wanted, since it was replacing my Android HTC Evo 4G phone for navigation duties. The phone has voice commands and can say address vs. typing it.
the split view isn't something you can control or turn on and off. It comes on automatically when it's trying to direct you as to what lane you're supposed to be in if you're approaching a confusing intersection/lane merge, then it turns back off.
@kaiser8454 I can't answer your second question, but about turning the gps on you just press the button at the top, be sure it has been charged for about 6 hrs via computer usb first. To turn if off you have to hold the button at the top for 10 seconds, if you just press the button in attempt to turn it off, it will put it into a sleep mode, which will drain your battery So the next time you go to turn it on and you wonder why it'snot turning on, the battery is dead.
Thanks moretorque. It helps very much. Really nice of you to reply. Lastly, how do I find the storage in the memory card like you did with yours? BTW, I didn't mention it in my first comments, but I really enjoyed your review of this Garmin GPS.
When you plug your gps into the computer you should see an option pop up in about 2 seconds, click,"open device to view files". Then you will see internal storage and memory card storage. If the pop up option doesn't show you can click, 'start, my computer, then it should be under 'portable device' or usb drive (F:)'.
places along road. Does it mean it'll show things like gas stations, rest stops overlayed on the map? Does it actually improve/update the route based on the traffic conditions or just shows the traffic conditions on the map?
Sorry to bother you, but I just have a quick question and I think it might be a little complicated. When you inserted the micro SD card into your Garmin device (16g), & plugged your GPS into your computer to see the TOTAL memory, did your computer show you Garmin's combined memory 2 be the old memory PLUS the new memory, or just the memory that the device came with? I was told by a Garmin rep that the new SD memory might not be combined with the old memory, but that it was nonetheless working.
@MikeTuanNguyen I have no idea, i'm not a gps expert. Try uninstaling it and then reinstalling the map updater? I had some problems at first too, just go through everything step by step and make sure everything's been updated.
Hey could you answer a question for me? I registered my product as the instructions said and it said my maps are updated but when i turn the thing on it says that there is no map data available? i tried updating it and I used the garmin liveupdater but it keeps saying error...please help!
you mean the option where it splits the screen with a picture and the actual gps?? It's not actually 'street view' it's a still picture that only pops up about half a mile before a highway exit just so people don't get confused at exits and make a wrong turn. After you make the correct exit it goes back to normal navigation
When I open the device in the computer it shows me internal storage and memory card storage as separate: Internal storage 339mb free of 3.60gb, memory card storage 12.6gb free of 14.8gb. Hope that helps.
Okay so I was wondering if I were to go out and buy this will it be ready for me to use right away? Or will I have to download programs to it before I go ahead and use it?? And is it done via a CD or what?? Please, if anyone can answer these questions please do so! :) THANK YOU
garmin suction cup sucks and doesnt stick good at all expecially when its hot out and you hit any bumps. The garmin i find is the best for directions when the device actually searches and finds a coordination which mine was good at first but doesnt find much lately. It is the best for step by step ive used garmin for years.
You just go buy it, charge it via your computer via usb, then it should be ready to use. No cd's invloved. You might just have to update the software on it when you get it, that's about it.
What maps are available for this unit. I need Central America, North America and South America. I live in Costa Rica but travel a lot on my motorcycle. Thanks
Personally, I think Garmin is crap for not showing street names like MaGellan. But I need the multi-point with Streets and maps to transfer 30-80 addresses. I don't know why Garmin is so popular.
you waste time by talking in slow motion, and then to drag out even more, slowly opening a box. Noone needs to know how to take something out of a box...just get to the info. you need to wake up and move it along.

ya they seem to work so far. Apart from the full North America map being too big, but I got a 16g mini sd card.

@Netcruzer No I pulled over to zoom the camera out a bit. Haven't tried the text to speech voices yet. rfdftmfw!
@moretorque where did you buy it? the cheapest price I can find is $189 or $219. Thanks

Do your lifetime map updates work because I read reviews where the updates actually broke the device
Awesome Review!

American Jill is the only voice that will tell you the name of the road to turn on.
Nice to know!
RE: Garmin Nuvi 2555 LMT, How do you save addresses?
Does the nuvi 2555 work for semi-trucks or only for cars? please reply thanks.
@MikeTuanNguyen I have no idea, i'm not a gps expert. Try uninstaling it and then reinstalling the map updater? I had some problems at first too, just go through everything step by step and make sure everything's been updated.
What is the red X above the green traffic icon?
Can you make a video showing the split screen with junction view? Thanks!

So does it really hav that 3D lookin on the freeway when your merging?
That was a good sale price. Where did you buy yours from?
Garmin does show street names if you set it up to do so.

@greattrip99 canadiantire, a long time ago, you probably won't find it for that price anytime soon.

does it have that option maybe?
yes it works for trucks and cars, as long as you have a cigarette lighter.
Nice review. Only Jill American English speaks the street names.

@Wanderer001 canadian tire, about a month ago.
@ergcraigslist thanks, as you can tell I'm a noob
Is this subaru ???
Thanks.
Thanks for the review! Does this thing search addresses by Canadian postal code (only)? Lets say H3H2N8
as far as I know that's only for the US highways..
yes ;)
Lifetime Maps and Traffic (updates for free).
Lame review. I can't believe you make money for producing this.
Jk. Love you.
can it speak in eubonics ~
Pulled over, by a cop at 11:20? Why don't you use the Text to speech voices? RFD FTW.
I hate my Magellan...she always says..."umm"
5"
thats kinda dumb that it didnt tell what street you were turning on...
No.
