I went to Solent and stayed in Mercury point the rooms are really ince warm and bigger than deanery where i also lived although the Halls are a little way from the uni Kimber is the nearest and also quite nice halls.
@Dan it's actually pretty good at least my kitchen group was we didn't always go out one of our guys was a great cook so often cooked for us we also had video game nights and the like I also went to my Society stuff as well (climbing) so yeah it was pretty good.
Hey just wondering what is the actual city of southampton like? Some people I know say it’s really rough and a bit of a dodgy place but I like the look of the uni so I was wondering what it’s actually like for a student there? Xx
Hello, I feel like the areas near the Universities are fine and campuses are pretty safe and secured. But of course you can't say a place is 100% safe, some areas are a bit more dodgy than others.
@@jlc5271 im from London and I know people at the uni who are also from London. Southampton is baby food to most people when it comes to crime or being "rough". Southampton is the 3rd safest city in the UK so it can’t have a high crime rate
Hello, sorry another question. Would you say glen eyre is better than wessex lane when you consider location to shops and everything, also what is the difference between an en-suite and an enhanced en suite, I know that you get a slightly bigger bed, but is the room larger too? Also, would you recommend a shared bathroom when you compare it to the price? Thanks a lot.
enhanced rooms are larger in size and i think there are more shelves for your books and stuff. and for the shared bathroom i think it is more about your financial situation, a lot of my friends chose shared bathroom and they are comfy but just be mindful that you re gonna have to carry your stuff in if you dont want others to use it, there will be a sink in the room so you can do your face-care stuff. also watch some room tours for which accomadation you re applying to see how many students it is per flat and if there is only one shower basin.
@@nihalg8269 thanks a lot, would you say the vibes people have in wessex lane are better than glen eyre as in is glen eyre chamberlain more posh as the enhanced en suites are more expensive
@@georgipazarov281 oh also look at the distance between where your campus will be and your accom. as in the website it shows the distance to the closest campus -i was too excited to check;((
such a helpful video! i am coming in september and was just wondering how many people were there per flat. do glen eyre, wessex lane and mayflower have the same amount of people per flat or does it vary? x
Chamberlain is not worth the price in my opinion. Currently living in it the room is really small with a double bed crammed in it. Overhyped, in my opinion. The kitchens are nice though.
Hey ella I have also applied to university of southampton for an oceanography program and would be attending lectures at the NOCS campus . Can you recommend some student accommodations or websites?
Hey! Great Video super helpful. I'm deciding between Wessex Lane and Glen Eyre, But want to go to the one where more parties happen/bigger social life (bc needed for first year lol). Which one would you say?
Both! Wessex Lane is a larger accommodation compared to Glen, however they are the two most popular accommodation. I lived in Wessex lane and so I'm biased saying that its better in terms of social life, so many people live there.
Just booked for Mercury Point, got an offer for Southampton before Christmas but I didn't want to book too early with all the exam faff this year. Begging that it's nice cuz I can't afford anything more expensive than that 😅 I think it's like 125 a week
Hi. Loved the vid. Just wanted to ask, do you know if Southampton are lenient when it comes to grades? I’m applying to do BA International Relations, is that considered a competitive course? Is it possible to go into it through clearing? Thank you ❤️
Hey! I’ll be joining Southampton this semester and I’m a little bit nervous about fitting in haha. I’m indian settled in Dubai, and it seems like they have a reallyyy small indian community. In your opinion, would you say there’s a lot of diversity on campus or am I likely to be lonely 😂
Thank youu, I know some stay in Vita Living in Portswood or City Centre. There is also a University of Southampton hall just for Post Grad called City Gateway!
Ngl I’m having a hard time choosing between Wessex lane and glen eyre 🤧😂
What did you choose and were you happy with the result?
I hace the same question

Have fun! Also they vary I think, Wessex has 7-8 people per flat. I think some Glen accommodations have more people and Mayflower has round 7 I think!

Really random but do they have freezers cause frozen food is cheap lol
yes there are freezers and lol tell me about it aha

aha no, hopefully its better than what I've heard :))
Which hall out of glen eyre and wessex lane is more social?
Ermmm both of the them are hella social, I’d say Monte since it’s the biggest accommodation and everyone lives in one big compound lol
