My brother who recently passed loved this album. Anytime I want to feel closer to him I listen to this. I love and miss you Joshy. I hope it’s forever summer for you now. You loved it.
I know it's just a meaningless word but i am sorry you have experienced that kind of loss but like you said its forever summer for your loved one now hope you can make peace with everything
how did i get here, when i first heard this album, i was delivering food for my first job, 6 years later, im riding in my dream lamborghini listening back to this album. What a time to be alive....
I remember when I used to ride my bike in the summer and fall of 2015 in Minneapolis to this album. So magical. I miss it. Now I'm living in Guatemala reminiscing those times. Soon I'll be back there or in Portland.
I used to Livein Taiwan when I was smashing the repeat button on this album. Is it me or the album suits best for summer? it has a summer reverberating echo in it. I used to yearn living in Guate back in 2015.
"You take a sound. Any sound. Record it and then change its nature by a multiplicity of operations. Record it at different speeds. Play it backwards. Add it to itself over and over again. You adjust filters, echoes, acoustic qualities. You combine segments of magnetic tape. By these means and many others you can create sounds which no one has ever heard before. Sounds which have indefinable and unique qualities of their own. A vast and subtle symphony can be composed from the noise of a pin dropping. In fact one of the most vibrant and elemental sounding noises in tonight's program me started life as an extremely tinny cowbell. "It's a sort of modern magic…"
If you like that you may also enjoy Eric Bana's recitation of the definition of "music" from Hanna (2011), unfortunately finding a clip on YT has proven difficult.
When I listen to music such as this, I think back to a thought I keep having that nothing really matters. Not in the sense that it's not worth doing anything, however. More in the sense that this mere fact that nothing matters makes everything powerless against oneself. Nothing matters, so why worry about anything? We treat emotions like they're rules that guide us. Popular phrases like "follow your heart" and similar ones tell us to strive for what we're happy for, but if nothing really matters if one was to look at the bigger picture, is there any reason to do that? What if your whole life, you lived by logic, and logic is what you trust most. What is stopping this person from just doing what they feel safe doing, or even love doing? All societies try to point everyone in one direction, but in the end anyone can take any direction they want. Evil and Good cannot exist without the other, so why do we call it evil? If someone wants to spend their life doing drugs and living on the streets, what fundamentally makes it so important to cure this person of their addiction, and get them a job for money? Everything is meaningless, but in a more positive way that anyone can do whatever they want, and one will actually see no drawbacks done onto themselves. It truly is a free world, and the limits we see are but the limits we create for ourselves.
Smely Ely you might be on to something xp I tend to look at something from as many diff angles as possible and then I find there's more to everything than what I first glimpsed, so much more, we are beings in a world the binds us to meaningless things, its one way to become hollow, explore, try new things, work out who/what you are and live it! Listening to odesza in a bubble bath, fucking bliss! Aha .
Heard this album years ago, still think it's one of the best Albums to vibe to, if your in the woods or at the beach or on a adventure, brings the child out of me
Have you ever just knew that an artist was amazing, but never realized just how good they were until your mind is blown after you dissect all of their albums in one night?
I remember riding my skateboard back in middle school listening to this album. Brings me back to the good old days when school just meant showing up all day.
I just noticed that ODEZSA have had the songs from this album shared on their channel since 2013. And I've been listening to them on various non-author channels. Time to give them some views.
I'm not just saying this- I thought a moment apart was the best album, or in return, but this album LITTERALY has out of this world vibes and nothing will ever be like it.

I fell deeply in love with a girl and in the summer of 2016 we would listen to this album driving down to the beach together, make love in my car after spending a few hours on the sand.....we ended up breaking each other's hearts to pieces...summers gone.

He must be a wonderful soul, god bless his soul any where it travels in this vast universe.. and to reunite again with his loved ones.. one day.
The body dies but the soul lives!

No.

I play the intro for anyone who ever tells me that Electronic music is bad and takes no talent.
