Okay just to put a good analysis and get a better understanding here, let's start with the characters and brief shortly: Yuri - Yes, he is the best character. (main character obviously) He gets skills like combination 1,2, & 3 and all the super chain artes. The burst artes itself like Diving Wolf Flood (Water) is good for crowds of enemies while the other elemental ones is good for single target depends on your preferences. He gets Glory skill and some strong hitting down hit artes like Wolf Strike + Azure Blast + Shining Eagle/ Concealed Wave. So indeed, he is very easy to handle and control. Estelle - The healer of this game, her physical movepool is quite shallow and lacking and a bit tricky to get used to her, the AI of her tends to be very finicky and picky when it comes to using attacking & supporting magic moves so it's best you command her in certain situations. Otherwise, her best artes I like using is Dividing Edge Sylphy Roll, Holy Rain, Force Field & Nighting Gale. A somewhat tricky character to get used to her controls and movement speed & attacks. Pow Hammer is also good too if you max out her arte usage to 9999 to stun enemies easily. Repede - 2nd best character I like using. He is fast, does somewhat decent damage and best part is his arte Gale Dog along with the accessory item, 'Maximum dog Symbol' (Combination of Final Symbol + Miracle Bangle + Building Tension). He doesn't perform the best combo moves but as you mention, he does get skills which benefits items with more efficiency, but I'd say his unique one is the "Dash Cancel' skill which involves canceling arte animation by using Free Run. Thievery and Steal Item artes has its moments, but it is better you control it rather than the AI or that would leave himself wide ope to attacks since the AI never Dash Cancels. Early start using him, doesn't hit nearly as hard but as you progress furthur, he gets better artes and skills. I like Lightning Dog (because you can stun-lock down hit enemies with it) and Victory Light Spear attack artes for him, they are my favourite one to use besides Gale Dog. Karol - Yeah, he is very strong character and can put out some awesome damage, only negative flaw is his slow movement speed and DPS attacks. He also gets like Nice Recovery Smash and Nice Curing Smash for his healing artes. He even gets like Destructo Pain Shot, Coil beat and other supporting moves and AI is pretty good with him when he is using the Mighty Charge skill effect. Aside from that, difficult character to use early on and doesn't pull off the best combo moves other than some range moves like Destructo Spider Web and Reaper Knock. Rita - Broken Tsundere Mage. That's all I can say, Blah Blah Blah! (Tidal Wave, Violet Pain, Meteor Storm). Her skills help her increase casting speed, do more damage, combo magic with no cast time and some gimmicks like Light Magic & Heavy Magic. Only downfall is that she is frail, but she still op regardless. Raven - A Hybrid character, pretty tricky character to use but once you get used to him, he is quite fun. Artes like Azure Heavens, Tempest, Havoc Gale, Stop Flow are pretty good moves. Not the best character for doing long range combo moves. Also, he gets Love Shot as well to heal parties and himself. (Who loves ya baby?) 😘 Judith - Somewhat difficult character to use in mastering her Air Combo moves, the AI indeed is not very good in using her. Also depends on what weapon you use, Rods is better for her because it boosts her physical defense and reduces her TP by half. Juggling enemies is also heavily on the size on whom you facing, bigger boss enemies like Khorma example is not reccomended since you can't lift her easily. Best artes I like using is Moonbeam, Luna Talon and Luna Crush, mostly her arcane artes and alternate artes. Jump Cancel is the most important skill for her along with her guard movements, definitely not an easy character to use early on and only way later in the game with better skills. Flynn - Yuri's friend, a good tank and does decent amount of damage, almost as good as Yuri. Got Cure arte and call pull off decent combos moves, not much to say anything else other than help reduces damage from enemies' attacks. Patty - The joker character in this game, not a big fan of luck base shenanigans but there are skills that lets her prevent Good & Bad effects like "Safe Bet" and "Gambler's Soul". Critical form is the best one for her and there are also skills that increases her chance to get one and ovl limit along with limit fever skill. She is not that strong but does good combo damage once you get used to her playstyle. Also, artes like Critical Moment has it's moments as well.

But srsly I never even heard of this series til this channel and based on your other vids alone I already ordered the Switch version on eBay. I 100%'s Dark Dawn when I was like 8 or 9 XD it has been a while though, and I know that that is the worst of the three xD I could try to jog my memory a bit though! I could at the very least make a character ranking if you would like!

The elemental Djinn feature in the games was really cool, how different combinations equipped to certain characters yielded different classes, summons, etc. Underrated series imo, not sure why Nintendo/Camelot hasn’t revisited it. Estelle's existence was redundant because Yuri, Raven, Flynn, Repede and even lesser extent Karol exists. Repede can use item way faster than anybody else to heal+cure Status effect while Yuri, Flynn, Raven AND Karol can provide immediate group heal. I got hit by Brave Vesperia in Unknown and with JUST Repede+Raven they restore the party HP to full like in 3 secs.
literally though, items are the best way to heal for sure. Raven's Love Shot is superior to Estelle, and Karol's healing Altered Artes are so much quicker and more useful than Estelle lol. And even if I did want to use healing magic, I'd probably still put Patty in my party instead, since she can heal well with Little Big Chef and stuff and can cast all the spells Estelle can AND the best healing spell in the game, Miraculous Fountain. Estelle is just so weak, I honestly don't understand.
@@rpgranked Flynn kinda got shortended of the stick in the main game though. Post-game Flynn was actually on the same tier with Repede. Double Guardian Field with Protagonist offense damage and double Mystic Arte with Yuri was a treat though. Flynn was basically the standard Tales protagonist skill like Cless with his own stick. BTW, your homie kinda forgot about Arte usage level UP. LOL
Yeah! Flynn is built different once you get him all through the post game, I used him a TON during the Necropolis of Nostalgia and the Labyrinth of Memories (I think that's what it's called, correct me if I'm wrong lol). That Double Mystic Arte is totally OP lol. It's true though, that Flynn was just the basic blonde Tales protagonist in terms of story and artes. However, he is a great foil character for Yuri, as him being compared to Flynn just makes Yuri seem all the more unique. hahaha yeah my bro just likes to play just for fun, not for mastery xD I had to equip his skills and artes for him because he was driving me nuts on how bad his choices were hahaha.

Abyss and Symphonia was BS with a lot of shit in order to learn skill (Screw the elemental circle in Abyss.) Also, kinda ashamed that Judith was only good when you control her. She's actually great in Arena thanks to her Air ability. Then again, Risky Ring with Rita was just way too easy.
I don't think it's as much lack of patience as it is he doesn't care if he is optimized or not 🤣 but yeah fs on the abyss and Symphonia stuff 🙄 and it is sad, Judith is my second favorite character to play behind Patty, and she is really good solo Arena! But she also gets in the way of your party's combos against non-aerial enemies, which prevents her from being a good team player. Freaking Moonbeam in the arena though is overpowered as sin. I forgot about the Risky Ring! That thing is insane 🤣🤣
Estelle with skills make her the best healer he also has a pretty good defense stat for a healer. Ravens love shot actually gets weaker the more you use it. As for Karol...have you seen him try to catch up to an injured Repede? It's a toss up if he can heal Judith or accidentally waste TP. Another thing that is still has over or her exclusive Elemental spells yes technically with the definitive edition Patty and Flynn can use the light magic but she's actually the best at doing that because she actually has a good magic stat. Well for Raven who can exclusively use wind spells he doesn't even have the magic and in Definitive Edition Patty can use when magic randomly and she can use it better than him and Patty doesn't have that great of a magic set either so there's an entire element exclusive to two characters who don't even have the magic stat back it up.

It is also instant use, making it better for a lot of the tougher boss fights 😅 Estelle's AI sucks and almost nobody wants to actually play as her, but if you play as her, yes, I would agree she is the best healer 😅 it just depends on the boss fight. And yeah, Karol does not synergize at all with repede, but if you have like a slower team (take Rita, Flynn, Karol, and Raven for instance, a team I like to use at times), he can be a good healer.

Yeah the wind element is iffy at best, but my favorite part about ravens wind magic is it's displacement properties. It can send people flying, which can be great in getting them on the floor for a combo follow-through. Raven is just such a weird character, honestly, but he has some of the best things in the game lol.
