I want to incorporate using an English sounding name but I live in Quebec. I heard that with the passing of bill 96 in Quebec, it will make having an English name for a business much harder.
Will incorporating my business federally make it easier or will I have just as hard a time either way.
If it is impossible, does incorporating in Ontario but living and working on Quebec possible?

If company A is provincially incorporated and at a later date if a company B with same name gets incorporated in another province, will it prevent company A in doing business in company B's province. Just wondering what is the risk of not protecting it outside one's province? Thanks for your input.

      Thanks for your question!
The rules around name protection across various jurisdictions can be a bit complicated, and we can't provide individual legal advice. If you have concerns about protecting your business name and brand across Canada, you should look into trademarking at an early stage. Trademarks will provide a greater level of protection than simply registering your business federally or provincially.

Can a business be registered provincially and trademarked federally? BTW, I just became a ownr customer.

Its frustrating to hear all options described with Canadian context only as if the business exists here only. How does each option protect your business name from being used in the US and the rest of the world? Other than that, there seems to be no real difference whatsoever as I can't fathom any future business owner concerned about an extra 00 bucks or a bit of paperwork.

Thank you for reaching out! We are a Canadian company and that is where we share our perspective from. A majority of the business videos here on UA-cam are from a US perspective, so please feel free to search one of those to find the answer you are looking for. We wish you the best on your search.
