here are some information about vaijayanti mala. eventhough the flower vaijayanti is there, it is also mentioned that vaijayanti mala is made of 5 gems in an order. Vaijayanti Plant Scientific Name: Coix lacryma-jobi Common Name: Job's-tears, Gurgur, Gurlu, Gavedhuka, Ran Jamdhlo, Chaning, Ashru Bija, Kahudo. The Vaijayanti flower, also known as Vana-mala or Vyjayanti, is a theological flower offered to Krishna and Vishnu in worship as a garland. Vaijayantī (वैजयन्ती).-A garland containing flowers of five colors and reaching down to the knees. It is worn by Lord Kṛṣṇa. The Vaijayanti (वैजयन्ति) is a necklace composed of a successive series of groups of gems, each group wherein has five gems in a particular order; it is described in the Viṣṇupurāṇa thus:-“Viṣṇu’s necklace called Vaijayanti is five-formed as it consists of the five elements, and it is therefore called the elemental necklace.” Here five-formed points to five different kinds of gems, namely the pearl, ruby, emerald, blue-stone, and diamond” The Viṣṇurahasya also says, “From the earth comes the blue gem, from water the pearl, from fire the kaustubha, from air the cat’s eye and from ether the Puṣparāga.” Vaijayanti-mālā (वैजयन्ति-मल):-The garland made of five types of forest flowers (or five jewels) is called the vaijyanti-mālā the garland-of-victory. Vaijayanti or Baijanti (as referenced by Meerabai also in her poems) is Canna lily flower - and I believe It’s not the flower but the beads made of the seeds of the flowers that used to be worn as garlands in both India and South America as well. It’s a yellowish red flower but beads are dark brownish black in colour. in Assamese and Bengali this flower is called Sarvajaya or Sarbajaya which also indicates bajayanti closely
Vaijanti ( that which conquers the enemies ) The Vaijayanti or Vaijayanta is the name of the flower - garland adoring Visnu's neck It is symbolical of five suksmabhuthas ( the subtle elements ) Lord Visnu being the creator and sustainer of this world , even the subtle out of which he creates are like garland or ornament for him REF.
