- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that a “tragic mistake” was made in an Israeli strike in the southern Gaza city of Rafah that set fire to a camp housing displaced Palestinians and, according to local officials, killed at least 45 people.
Netanyahu did not elaborate on the error. The Israel Defense Forces said it had carried out a precise airstrike on a Hamas compound, killing two senior militants. As details of the strike and fire emerged, the military said it had opened an investigation into the deaths of civilians.
At least 45 people were killed in the attack. The overall Palestinian death toll in the war is now above 36,000, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which operates under the jurisdiction of the Hamas government.
Netanyahu has said Israel must destroy what he says are Hamas’ last remaining battalions in Rafah, but the strike on Rafah has sparked new criticism. The U.S. National Security Council said called the images of the aftermath of the strike “heartbreaking.”

1. Israels objective in this attack was to target only the two Hamas terrorist commanders who were responsible for firing the rockets at Israel yesterday and were hiding in the humanitarian zone.
2. The building where the cowardly terrorists were hiding is the only one that received a direct and accurate hit.
3. The Gazans that Hamas claims were killed (let me cast great doubt on the numbers they give) were killed by a fire that broke out there. It is a tragedy but Let’s remember that Israel delayed its attack on Rafah more than a month and evacuated million and a half Gazans to a safe zone in the center of the strip. It is the opposite of genocide.
4. The Israelis are fighting against a cruel and despicable enemy who hides behind civilians and shoots at Israel while using the civilian population as a human shield. They don’t care if Gazans life are at risk. In fact it serves its false narrative.
5. There are more than 124 Israeli hostages in Gaza and most probably the majority of them being held in Rafah. Israel are obligated to bring them back.
6. It is certain that the Israelis will investigate and try to make sure that something like this does not happen again. No sane Israeli is happy to see such a tragedy.
7. Israel should not get advice from the Arab league or the European countries. The Arab with their support for terrorism (for example, Qatar that sponsors Hamas, or Egypt, which allowed Hamas to bring hundreds of thousands of rockets and missiles and tons of explosives into Gaza) for decades, they are part of the problem. Not of the solution. The European have totally zero understanding of the Middle East, and they lost the instinct of fighting for their rights.
8. Please remember Hamas started it and Hamas can stop it. Full surrender and a release of all the hostages will end the war in a minute.
