Dawn Treader was always my favourite from this series. There was real jeopardy and the eery music still brings back memories to this day. The one scene that really changed me as a child was where Eustace comes to the realisation that he may be stuck as the dragon, alone on the island for the rest of his life. That concept really scared me as a young child and I had separation anxiety from my parents for about a year after seeing it.
This is also my favorite but what make me Wonder why do lucy have so short hair in the book she had long hair in two ponytails why did they decide to make her hair look like this in the BBC 😊🤔
I really loved this show when I was a kid. Haven't seen it in 25 years or something... Man, the effects have not aged well but I can still see the charm and value in the production! 😃 Real nostalgic!
I remember UKGold showing all three BBC Narnia series, probably in the early 90s, and I believe BBC1 also repeated it in 1992 (during the holidays, not sure if the summer or Christmas) on Children's BBC in the morning. I don't think it's ever been shown since the early-mid 90s, never seen it on any channel.
Without any doubt this movie is better than the 2010 one, I'm an argentinian guy who was born in the year where this movie was filmed, and I just discovered the Narnia books in 2022, and I already read the first 3 ones, and watched the movies (the 3 Disney movies, and now this one, and it is mucj better than the Disney one, because it is really based on the book). Greetings from Arg.
My little sister has down syndrome and wen we were kids she really loved the chronicles of Narnia and I soon found myself enjoying it too. She would have a good laugh as I'd impersonate some of the characters voices and the funny things they said 😂.
I've gotta say, Ben Barnes did a great job as Prince Caspian. But Samuel West has always been KING Caspian to me. Idk if that makes sense, he just does this role so well.
LOL my dial up internet always disconnected frequently during the late 90s and early 2000s. We got some free crap with a bunch of ads and it was always booting me when I was trying to get my girlfriend at the time excited. So inconvenient. Oh to be 18, full of hormones and sugary, caffeinated beverages, and with primitive technology. David Thwaites as Eustace Scrubb was the most 90s kid ever. Gone were the 80s, where kids were lame, "hip to be square" and got in trouble by accident. 90s kids got in trouble on purpose. We went looking for it because it was fun and we were as angsty as a hippie kid in 1960s Texas. So nostalgic.
2:14 OMG that’s Warwick Davis as Reepicheep! He was Nikabrik in the Disney version of Prince Caspian, Professor Flitwick and Griphook in Harry Potter, AND the little Ewok who became friends with Leia and Han in Star Wars Return of the Jedi! 😃
Well said. It was a big dissatisfaction with the theatrical release we got. Totally undermined the purpose of Ripasheep sacrifice, and made the dark island a threat to Narina when in fact, it was just another obstacle they had to face, and by so doing, destroyed it. The whole movie was finding the seven lords, explorations, and the the story or sacrifice of Ripasheep had to make to free the 4 lords. If they would have done it right, it would have did just as well or better than theatrical version of prince Caspein which was well done!!
The modern version was positively lobotomized. There was no expecting it could do well in the box office when they removed the heart. Gotta respect the source material! There's just no improving on what was already perfect.
Despite the lack of good cgi and special effects, this BBC adaptation of the Chronicles of Narnia far surpasses the ones made by disney. While I did enjoy the new ones more for entertainment purposes, this BBC series closely followed the books which (in my not so important opinion) is far more important than having good special effects, yet miss the actual story. I'm just dissapointed they never made (magicians nephew, the horse and his boy my personal favorite, and of course the last battle which by the way did win an award.) Thanks so very much for your hard work for restoring this, and I hope you will do more restorations for the other stories as well. Love, prayers and blessings

Netflix will adapt all 7 novels and in addition to that they will also make spin offs based on the world of charn (before the magician's nephew) and the problem of Susan pevensie (after the last battle)
@@leasebergfladstad167 My guess is that the other three books that weren't adapted were too hard to make into movies for BBC at the time. One of them is about how the world of Narnia was created and the last one is about how Narnia is destroyed, so it would be technically difficult to shoot these two books, without a lot of special effects.
Is Reepicheep not one of the most bad-ass characters of all time? Absolutely fearless and a great character brought to life by the great Warwick Davis. That is the most bad-ass send off that truly befits such a great character where he's waving goodbye in his boat. So unbelievably iconic and someone singing, "Reepicheep" somberly in the background
The song in the background is the lullaby/prophesy that Reepicheep said was sung for him when he was a baby: "Where the waves grow sweet, doubt not, Reepicheep, there is the utter east."
The soundtrack in these is so haunting. I love it! It was only when I watched these as an adult that I realised the song at the end was singing the "doubt not Reepicheep" verse. Thanks for all the time you spent remastering this nostalgia overload from my childhood

My granny sent away for each of the bbc narnia dvds from the newspaper when i was 3 or 4. Lots of memories of watching them on my grandpa's little portable dvd player, dawn treader and silver chair were my favourites.
I think you mean the fox version. The first 2 were released by disney, but fox released the third one. Shouldn't matter now since Disney bought Fox in 2019,and killed it in 2020.
Especially since the film version took so many liberties with the plot. In my opinion, that decision is the reason why the series stopped and never went any further.
Thank you so much for doing this remaster - I quite literally grew up on these stories (and in particular, these versions of them) - we had all 4 books on VHS for as long as I can remember (well, up until VCRs stopped being a thing normal people have in their house). So good to see them touched up. You did a wonderful job of stitching the episodes together as well.
They changed 2 important parts about the undragoning. One that he didn't sit and talk to Edmund who had been the first convert in the series. Then that Aslan said the good essentially you lies within which is exactly the opposite of the point of the scene. Eustace became on the outside what he already was within and he could only effect the most superficial of changes where Aslan could reach in and really change him. That's why the first claw of Aslan into him felt like it reached his heart.
I know that made me sad. They cheapened his redemption by it too, nevermind the whole point of Aslan's work. The one thing I find really disappointing about the BBC adaptations is the New Age-y take on Aslan.
I still remember watching this for the first time back in 1989 on the old, boxy Phillips TV in the corner of the living room. Can't believe that was 35 years ago now 😊.

WHY WERE THEY HAPPY TO SEE EUSTACE AT ABOUT 48:20?
Love 💕 Narnia 2023
Warm fuzzies rewatching this. The island of dreams freaked me out as a kid when I saw it in the 90s on VHS. But overall even back then I think this was my favorite. “Where sky and water meet, Where the waves grow sweet, Doubt not, Reepicheep, To find all you seek, There is the utter East.”
Love all three serie of tvserie Narina📷🎬🎼🎵❤❤❤
I cannot say 1989 was a favourite year of mine and I would not want to relive it no way having this on tv was awesome but that year was ghastly for me
Did you know that the actor who plays as Reepicheep played as Nikabrick in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Capsian
I had the VHS boxset but this wasnt in it!!! I always hoped that they had made it turns out they did!!
" I wonder, do they become visible if we drive a sword in them?" - Reepicheep
😂Savage hahaha
@@KNakanishi CS Lectures goes over the deeper aspects of Chronicles of Narnia. Really well done
Make way for the King of Narnia.
So good!
It's hard to beat real acting. Warwick is the only reason I'm debating watching the new Willow
Thank you so much!! Can’t wait to rewatch this after so many years!
Three notes at the beginning:
1. Can’t wait to see if my crush on Caspian has lasted! 😂
2. I don’t even like wine but somehow they make spiced wine sound like the most delicious thing and I’m so sad it isn’t for me haha!
3. I really need to capture the “A wind, sire! A wiiiiind!” clip so I can send it to people when I quote it all the time! 😂
Only five minutes in and it’s all coming back! 😍 The ship is GORGEOUS!! And Caspian just as handsome as remembered 😁 I also remember why this was always my favorite Narnia book - the spirit of adventure and exploring the unknown!! Wish I could have my own Dawn Treader!
19:36 THIS! This right here! It’s the darn golden armor that started the whole crush! 😂
The Town of Narrowhaven was the main settlement of the Lone Islands on the Island of Doorn.
love this! can you make one for silver chair?
I am juggling the idea. If I do, it'll be towards Christmas of this year, but no promises! Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment :D
It is already on UA-cam.
Look it up.
@@KNakanishi 4:33/ 1:48:29 is that Warwick Davis who played Fliwick in harry Potter?
@@christophermaccool8029 Yes it is. That man has had an incredible acting career. I believe his first gig was as the main Ewok in Return of the Jedi when he was like 10 years old or something.
@@KNakanishi he was only ten years old?
also in the new version of Prince Caspian wasn't he playing one of the Dwarfs?
THanks friend
This is what i grew up with we didn’t have CGI but we got a cool lion and animation
I grew up with these as well, they're still my favorite versions of the Narnia stories, beating the modern ones by a large amount.
this is about 10,000,000 times better than the disney one
Love these anyone know where they filmed all the islands scenes
Tresco islands, ise of scilly
@@phantomsidious2934 makes sense considering telmarines were Mediterranean men who migrated to Narnia.
The production appears to be of far higher quality than even BBC's own Silver Chair. Vastly different budget between BBC releases or what?
Love these movies they were my childhood same with the Disney ones
People need to pay attention to the parallels in the chronicles of Narnia series and the Bible the writings about Jesus.
Narnia isn't about Jesus and neither is Jesus.
@@hydraelectricblue : Wrong. Aslan is supposed to be Jesus
@@hydraelectricblue Bruh. Did we read the same series? Lewis was even more transparent about his analogy than Tolkein was.
Hardly. People don't need to pay much attention to something that makes the parallels blatant.
@@ZotoTVChile wrong- it's in his name- he is AS-a-Lion ; not THE Lion.
1:43:45/1:48:29 Caspian should have went with Lucy and Edmund and Eustace to say his goodby's proper;y like he did in the new version in 2010.
There
a good mobie and true thats a beutiful story the origin
Al i love its god we always love you all
The Disney version was longer, and yet left out so much......
Agreed. They changed the whole movie and Peter and Susan did not need to be in it. AT ALL!
Prince Caspian and silver chair HD coming soon?
Prince Caspian is up now! ua-cam.com/video/YzSq5MFfpyA/v-deo.html
Courage. Courage, dear heart.
As much as I like Will Poulter this kid played an even more obnoxious Eustace
So bad it’s good. 😂😂😂. Seriously, Aslan had me rolling, especially when he roared 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh man, him looking beyond fake was funny enough, but his roar sounding like a guy just saying “roaaaaaaaar” had me dying. And Reep, oh no what have they done to you? 😂
Star Wars episodes 4 and 5 were made years before this and episode 6 was made around the same time as this. None of those films looked so fake.
@@nathanapplegate5374 This wasnt a film. It was a TV production with a much lower budget at the BBC.
Lucy was a lot less angrier at Eustace in the Disney movie than in this series including Caspian in the Disney movie😃
That's because they are different actors and directors and different times and goals. BBC wanted to tell the story, Disney want a modern film. Two quite different things. The original 1974 Swallow and Amazon film, like the books, have a girl named Titty, and the new 2016 film does not. Now named Tatty. This is due to different times. Stories change with time
This movie shows we have always a chance
58:22 starts my favorite part
Me watching this: Perfect. Gorgeous.
Me watching the Disney version: WHAT THE FU-
The dragon and sea serpent costumes are a vast improvement on anything from LWW or PC.
Please @K.Nakanishi add Prince Caspian BBC version remastered
Hey, right now is actually a great time because I'm between gigs. Got started on this today.
@@KNakanishi ohh amazing, thank you!!🙌
@@SkyCircuit0 hey, finished up and posted yesterday. ua-cam.com/video/YzSq5MFfpyA/v-deo.html
Ever grateful for this upload!! 🤍🙏🏽💐💫
Holy crap, it's like the direction and camera work were done by someone's dad
