Brilliant! Just works, works, works! Asked my merc dealer if they offered this type of thing as an add-on. Told 'No'. Tried a 'Saphe' product but sent it back (drains the phone battery, that's doing all the hard work and software clunky and unreliable - who needs unreliable when we're talking 3 points etc). Tripped over this video and thought all my Christmasses had come at once. The seuence of button pushing was mildly different to enable functioning but easy to find right way eventually after a few wrong turns (A250e Hybrid AMG Premium Plus). Frankly couldn't believe it was working. Out for a drive and yes it works although missed the red light camera nearest my house. Range is quite long (it picks up a camera on the main road when I'm driving in an estate alongside the main road, one road back). Would LOVE to change the tone to something more strident or loud but hey-ho - it's good. Thank you!
Hi, great videos. A small correction: USB-A is the larger plug that you held up to camera, not USB-B. USB-B is an almost square config., with equal bevel edges on each side.

The 'free' version doesn't have the two red-light cameras nearest to my home. Does the 'paid-for' version show a better and more correct indication of fixed speed & red light cameras (ie is that what you're paying for?)?

The C63 had to give way to me !! not the other way around.... Could feel the difference in the length of the wheel base over the CLA45s SB

Can you tell me if its the camera or wiring. Have Mercedes e250 2013 estate and if I do settjngs fkr camera with straight reverse lines camera works but if I change setting to get moving grid line and car sensor theres no picture do you know dk I need to buy a different camera thanks
Great tip, thanks. I loaded the free version first to check it worked fine before going for the paid upgrade. Loaded up ok (took a little while for the "Personal POI" option to become clickable as it initially loaded). Visual Warning and Acoustic Warning features however do not seem to be working on my MBUX - only mapping feature. Tried deselcting and reselecting the option and restart, but no change. Is this a problem others have had with the free to download option in UK?

Very nice video. I had a question about your CLA 45s. How is your engine oil consumption ? (Drivers screen > service > engine oil) once the car is warm and flat surface etc. my 45s seems to have drank half its oil (sitting between min and max) after 4600 miles, just curious to see if yours has aswell due to getting ours at a similar time. Downloaded the file ok, but 9 times out of 10, the ‘Personal POI’ menu is not accessible. It’s faded out. Every now and then it works, but very rarely. I’ve a 2022 E Class. Any suggestions? Cheers 👍
Thanks Omz303, I don’t plan any tuning for the 45s because the power is perfect for UK roads but I may do a second AMG as more of a project car in the future. I may be doing some exhaust modifications on the CLA45s in the near future.
I dont know why but the first time i plug in the usb stick, everything works fine. But the next time i start up the car the personal poi stays just grey and i cant turn it on…

Thanks Matthew, unfortunately you do need to keep the usb plugged in. It does remember all your settings though so If you unplug the usb the cameras disappear but when you plug It back in they appear back straight away without having to go into any of the menus.
Great tip, Adam! As AMG owner, you regularly end up in police controls and the usage of active warning systems is prohibited while driving in most European countries. Therefore I am curious if the icons disappear immediately once you plug out the usb drive?
Hey Christian, In my car from my test once it’s setup If you unplug the USB they disappear in under and second, then they pop back up instantly as soon as you plug it back in 👍

Confirm in an A250E with MBUX, if you pull out the USB, the Camera symbols disappear immediarely and if you plug back in, they all come back with no setup needed.
Hey Geoff, It runs directly off the usb so you have to keep it plugged in. It automatically loads every time you start the car though so you never have to go back into the options etc.
Does this work on a 2019 a-class? (a180 amg line premium) I have heard some people say that with that model its impossible? Also, if there is a way to get it, how do you get updates over course of months?
Hi Oliver, this should work In a 2019 A-class. You may need to check the MBUX version since older versions don’t have all the features for audible warnings etc but a MB dealer should easily be able to run a software update if needed. The paid database is the most up to date. I think they update it once a year so it works out under £10 a year which is not bad.

Great video. Just purchased the full version but when i go into MBUX i get as far as Map elements but i dont have a personal poi option. Mines not 45s though so maybe thats why.. At least it was only a tenner i lost... Damn!
Hey Andrew, This should work in all MBUX cars. It sounds like you may be running an older version of MBUX and it just needs to be updated to a newer version I think. What version of MBUX are you running? You can check in the car menu (see 3:10 mins into the video to see mine). A Mercedes-Benz dealer will be able to update it for you.

Hey Andrew, Ah! That’s good. If the ‘personal POI’ is greyed out I think it just means it’s still loading then up from the USB. It can take longer the first time. Try waiting a few minutes with everything running and it should go white and let you select it. You may need to go back to the map screen and through the menus again. Once it’s setup though it’s instant each time you start the car or plug in the usb.
Hi I just joined the Mercedes family recently I like watching the videos I did enjoy them I'm just struggling with the speed cameras I download the premium package I'm just struggling to install it the memory stick is just not detecting in the car I just followed the instruction as you said but when it comes to the personalised pols it is just not highlighted so I just cannot go more further format the memory stick and reinstall it again but still nothing if you could help me to be kind enough thanks.
Hey! Welcome to the family! A few people have ran into this problem with the option grey. We discovered if you remove the memory stick and shut down the car then start again. Turn engine on then on the screen with the map insert the USB stick and wait 3 minutes on the map screen. This will load up all the data. Then when you go into the menus it should not be gray. Just make sure to stay on the map screen while you are waiting. Hopefully this will all work 👍

Hey, this is a long one... 😐 If anyone is bothered to read it let me know. 😅 Does anyone know how to work this on W205 C Class with upgraded Android 10" screen? So I have 3 navigation options, OEM NTG 5.2, Android System (google maps), Wireless Android Auto (also google maps). When I start the car it boots into Android Auto, but I can access the Android MBUX menu (or something that looks very close to MBUX style) and the OEM system. As I have Google as default on my Android system can I use this USB to update speed cameras on Google maps? Or does this USB only update Mercedes OEM system maps? I notice that when using Google maps, the cameras do not show up when I'm driving without setting a desitination, which is really annoying. I hear Waze is very good for cameras, but I really dislike the UI and look of the maps on it.

Hi Tom, is the option in the menu in the car gray? For the first time some have had to insert the usb while on the map screen then wait a few minutes for them to load up before going into the menus
Hey Sam, this can happen sometimes while it’s loading off the usb. Try unplugging the usb and returning to the menu. Wait 1 minute then plug in the usb then wait 2 minutes in the menu before going into the settings and hopefully it won’t be grey. You will only need to do this the first time.
Hey, a few have had this and we managed to fix it. Remove the memory stick and turn off the car. Then turn the car back on and insert the memory stick and wait on the map screen for a good 3 minutes then after go into the menus and fingers crossed it won’t be grey. First time it sets them up it takes a little time to install them. Once installed they pop up instantly though.
Hopefully this works in Australia. I’ll give it a go once I get a USB-C stick. Happy to cough up cash if it works but not so much if it doesn’t. Cheers.
Hi David, I think it’s greyed out while it’s loading up the files from the usb stick for the first time. If you wait a few mins with it plugged in and everything running it should turn white. You may need to go back to the map menu and go back into the settings. If it doesn’t turn white try unplugging the memory stick then plugging it in and waiting on the map menu for a few mins before going into the options. This is only for the first time. It should pop up instantly when you start the car once it’s setup.

Just paid for the premium version and all seems ok. Point of note, you have to keep the USB stick plugged in to the USB port each time you drive. There is no way to add the database to the MBUX system. I am not certain if the other comand syatem allows it or not. Cheers
Hey Keith, glad it’s all working. That’s right you do have to keep it plugged it. It’s no problem if you plug a small one into the arm rest compartment usb and forget it’s there. If I ever plug in my phone I use the one at the front :)
Hi Kingsley, apple car play has its own special usb C port at the front by the cup holders. For the speed cameras you plug your usb drive into a different usb C port in the center arm rest compartment.

Registered and paid for the download, problem is United Kingdom seems to have disappeared from the Country download list, despite saying they cover it. I’ve sent an email to their support & am awaiting a reply
Is it greyed out? We’ve found for a few people it does not let you click it if you insert the usb and go straight to the menus. Try shutting down the car with the usb removed. Insert it when on the map then wait 5 mins before going into the menus. Hopefully it will work this time.

@Joy-Bangla Ah! That’s great to hear. You need to keep the usb plugged in but it should auto load now every time you start the car so no need to go into the menus.
Hey, A few people had this and we managed to get it working by removing the usb and restarting the car. Once back up and running insert the usb on the map screen and wait 3 minutes before going into the menu. If it’s grey it usually means it’s still loading the data for the first time off the drive. Sometimes it can glitch if you go into the menus too soon. It only has to do this once though. Once it’s setup the cameras pop up on the map instantly when you plug it in. Hope this all works!
It’s possible you’re missing an optional extra. I think it’s called traffic or road sign assist. A sensor reads speed signs rather than using a database.
@@guesswho36 for mine you need to use the non CarPlay usb port. Should have one or two of these in the center arm rest compartment so should be ok to use both together.
@@ABAUTOAMG that’s great, so I can put them there and just forget about it lol. It’d be annoying if the one by the wireless charging as I’m using CarPlay a lot. At least they thought about it lol. I still wish they make one of plug inside the arm rest work for CarPlay as well.
Hi, the compatibility notes on the paid for database says: ‘*** Requires latest software version: apilevel/ntg6/080.’ I have apilevel/ntg6/081, will this work?
If it’s grey that usually means it’s still loading up the database (takes longer first time). Try this: remove the usb from your car. Turn off and exit the car. Enter the car and turn everything on. Insert the usb stick into the port in the arm rest compartment but don’t go into the menus yet. Wait 3 minutes in the map screen for it to load up. Then go in and hopefully it won’t be grey. If it is try going back to the map and wait a couple mins then go back into the menu and check if its still grey. Once you’ve set it up they will load up instantly.
Hi there, a few have had this issue and we’ve been able to resolve it. If it’s grey and not selectable it’s usually because the data is still loading up from the usb. It can take a few minutes the first time. Try unplugging the usb stick and return to the main menu with the map. Plug the usb stick back in and wait 3 minutes then go into the menus and hopefully it won’t be grey. Let us know how you get on and il try help further If it’s still not working.
Try formatting usb with ntfs not fat32 and have only 1 file on usb stick. Insert, wait, if it does change from greyed out, then leave attached, switch off car and then go back in, should now work. Good luck.
Hey Michael, I’ve had no problems with the free files but if you’re worried you could go for the premium ones. I have links to both in the video description. I’ve found the premium ones to have much more accurate camera locations too.

Nice video. Don't expect it works the same way as Sat nav as it is POI which means it notifies you when you are in the radius not the direction

There’s a spare usb port in the armrest box that probably never gets used and you can get a tiny usb stick and forget about it.

Does this work on a 2019 a-class? (a180 amg line premium) I have heard some people say that with that model its impossible? Also, if there is a way to get it, how do you get updates over course of months?
Hi Oliver, this should work In a 2019 A-class. You may need to check the MBUX version since older versions don’t have all the features for audible warnings etc but a MB dealer should easily be able to run a software update if needed. The paid database is the most up to date. I think they update it once a year so it works out under £10 a year which is not bad.

Great video. Just purchased the full version but when i go into MBUX i get as far as Map elements but i dont have a personal poi option. Mines not 45s though so maybe thats why.. At least it was only a tenner i lost... Damn!
Hey Andrew, This should work in all MBUX cars. It sounds like you may be running an older version of MBUX and it just needs to be updated to a newer version I think. What version of MBUX are you running? You can check in the car menu (see 3:10 mins into the video to see mine). A Mercedes-Benz dealer will be able to update it for you.

However the Personal POI's is there now but grayed out so I can't select it. Cars in for a full B1 service in a couple of weeks so maybe I can ask the dealer 👍

Hey Andrew, Ah! That’s good. If the ‘personal POI’ is greyed out I think it just means it’s still loading then up from the USB. It can take longer the first time. Try waiting a few minutes with everything running and it should go white and let you select it. You may need to go back to the map screen and through the menus again. Once it’s setup though it’s instant each time you start the car or plug in the usb.

I'm just struggling with the speed cameras I download the premium package I'm just struggling to install it the memory stick is just not detecting in the car I just followed the instruction as you said but when it comes to the personalised pols it is just not highlighted so I just cannot go more further format the memory stick and reinstall it again but still nothing if you could help me to be kind enough thanks.
Hey! Welcome to the family! A few people have ran into this problem with the option grey. We discovered if you remove the memory stick and shut down the car then start again. Turn engine on then on the screen with the map insert the USB stick and wait 3 minutes on the map screen. This will load up all the data. Then when you go into the menus it should not be gray. Just make sure to stay on the map screen while you are waiting. Hopefully this will all work 👍

Does anyone know how to work this on W205 C Class with upgraded Android 10" screen?
So I have 3 navigation options, OEM NTG 5.2, Android System (google maps), Wireless Android Auto (also google maps). When I start the car it boots into Android Auto, but I can access the Android MBUX menu (or something that looks very close to MBUX style) and the OEM system. As I have Google as default on my Android system can I use this USB to update speed cameras on Google maps?
Or does this USB only update Mercedes OEM system maps?
I notice that when using Google maps, the cameras do not show up when I'm driving without setting a desitination, which is really annoying. I hear Waze is very good for cameras, but I really dislike the UI and look of the maps on it.

Hi Tom, is the option in the menu in the car gray? For the first time some have had to insert the usb while on the map screen then wait a few minutes for them to load up before going into the menus

Hey Sam, this can happen sometimes while it’s loading off the usb. Try unplugging the usb and returning to the menu. Wait 1 minute then plug in the usb then wait 2 minutes in the menu before going into the settings and hopefully it won’t be grey. You will only need to do this the first time.

Hey, a few have had this and we managed to fix it. Remove the memory stick and turn off the car. Then turn the car back on and insert the memory stick and wait on the map screen for a good 3 minutes then after go into the menus and fingers crossed it won’t be grey. First time it sets them up it takes a little time to install them. Once installed they pop up instantly though.

Yep but you can plug it into the one in the glove box. I recommend finding a really small usb stick.
Hopefully this works in Australia. I’ll give it a go once I get a USB-C stick. Happy to cough up cash if it works but not so much if it doesn’t. Cheers.

my option to add POI is greyed out on the menu... MBUX 7 on my W206. and it's the latest version.. just been updated few weeks ago
Hi David, I think it’s greyed out while it’s loading up the files from the usb stick for the first time. If you wait a few mins with it plugged in and everything running it should turn white. You may need to go back to the map menu and go back into the settings. If it doesn’t turn white try unplugging the memory stick then plugging it in and waiting on the map menu for a few mins before going into the options. This is only for the first time. It should pop up instantly when you start the car once it’s setup.

I am based in the UK and I have a 12/2017 registered C220D with Audio 20 system. I had a go at it and this method did not work. Do you have any method I could follow to get the location of the speed cameras on my Audio 20 system please? I believe it has NTG5Star1 when I go to the details of the navigation. Many thanks
Just paid for the premium version and all seems ok. Point of note, you have to keep the USB stick plugged in to the USB port each time you drive. There is no way to add the database to the MBUX system. I am not certain if the other comand syatem allows it or not. Cheers
Hey Keith, glad it’s all working. That’s right you do have to keep it plugged it. It’s no problem if you plug a small one into the arm rest compartment usb and forget it’s there. If I ever plug in my phone I use the one at the front :)

Hi Kingsley, apple car play has its own special usb C port at the front by the cup holders. For the speed cameras you plug your usb drive into a different usb C port in the center arm rest compartment.

Hi can't find the personal POI in the merc. I can see the tab in my gle but nothing happens to the tab.
Is it greyed out? We’ve found for a few people it does not let you click it if you insert the usb and go straight to the menus. Try shutting down the car with the usb removed. Insert it when on the map then wait 5 mins before going into the menus. Hopefully it will work this time.

@Joy-Bangla Ah! That’s great to hear. You need to keep the usb plugged in but it should auto load now every time you start the car so no need to go into the menus.
I have tried this and it does not work. The option for poi is not activated. How do I turn it on.
Hey, A few people had this and we managed to get it working by removing the usb and restarting the car. Once back up and running insert the usb on the map screen and wait 3 minutes before going into the menu. If it’s grey it usually means it’s still loading the data for the first time off the drive. Sometimes it can glitch if you go into the menus too soon. It only has to do this once though. Once it’s setup the cameras pop up on the map instantly when you plug it in. Hope this all works!

It’s possible you’re missing an optional extra. I think it’s called traffic or road sign assist. A sensor reads speed signs rather than using a database.

Yep so it’s best to find a small one. It does load up instantly though once you’ve synced it up.

@@guesswho36 for mine you need to use the non CarPlay usb port. Should have one or two of these in the center arm rest compartment so should be ok to use both together.

If it’s grey that usually means it’s still loading up the database (takes longer first time). Try this: remove the usb from your car. Turn off and exit the car. Enter the car and turn everything on. Insert the usb stick into the port in the arm rest compartment but don’t go into the menus yet. Wait 3 minutes in the map screen for it to load up. Then go in and hopefully it won’t be grey. If it is try going back to the map and wait a couple mins then go back into the menu and check if its still grey. Once you’ve set it up they will load up instantly.

Personal POI isn’t selectable..
Hi there, a few have had this issue and we’ve been able to resolve it. If it’s grey and not selectable it’s usually because the data is still loading up from the usb. It can take a few minutes the first time. Try unplugging the usb stick and return to the main menu with the map. Plug the usb stick back in and wait 3 minutes then go into the menus and hopefully it won’t be grey. Let us know how you get on and il try help further If it’s still not working.

Try formatting usb with ntfs not fat32 and have only 1 file on usb stick. Insert, wait, if it does change from greyed out, then leave attached, switch off car and then go back in, should now work. Good luck.

Hey Michael, I’ve had no problems with the free files but if you’re worried you could go for the premium ones. I have links to both in the video description. I’ve found the premium ones to have much more accurate camera locations too.
Waze is free. Gives traffic info to your destination.

Why hasn't the Speed camera database been updated since early march
You keep saying you're 'Happy to Help' but you refuse to answer the simple question of why this database has not been updated for 6 months despite being promised as a regularly updated (monthly) service.

I’m happy to help setting this up as a fellow consumer but I have no affiliation or anything to do with the company that create the database. I just tried this myself and thought it would be a great video to share with my viewers. They don’t even know this video exists.
