I love your board. I bought one a year ago for my K40. Just seen this new video. I will share on my Socials and Group, Thankyou.
Thanks 3DHP! I love your channel's maker focussed vids. Let's hangout and talk lasers some day
Amazing Service ........fast delivery .......professional support
Bin vollauf zufrieden mit dem Service und der Qualität
Got mine in the mail today. Amazing service and lightning fast delivery. The hardware installation was a breeze. Cheers
Brendon 🙏
Thanks Brendon! What have you been creating on your re-vamped K40?
This is fabulous. A professional video. Gives me confidence. I prefer this to the Cohesion 3D board! Ordering next week!
Thanks Ethan! Right now supply is tight, but will normalise in coming weeks
Just purchased this board and awaiting delivery. I hope this lives up to its claims and makes my k40 usable.
Is this using a standard USB type-A port?
The fantastic thing about this is that it doesn't require an external power source. Love it!
Yes, the Mini Gerbil is connected to a PC via a commonly available USB cable (USB A at the PC end, mini B at the Mini Gerbil end).
Glad you picked up on the a key advantage of this design, not requiring an external power supply keeps upgrade costs reasonable
Works Awesome, I thought I was in for a long ride but was so easy now that I have the Gerbil-STM driver installed 🤔😂 Thanks Guys n Gals. TFS, GB :)
Got mine today. So easy to follow the video, apart from the fact my power supply was quite different. Once that was sorted, the rest was easy. No issues, and I’m not tech savvy, being 62!
Hi Glenda, this question has been answered on your forum post
Just ordered this board, fingers crossed i get it right.
Can this board support the camera function on lightburn?
I was hoping to use it to make it easier to align leather sides for engraving
Hello, it would be helpful for me to see a video without the ribbon cable. Which connector do I connect the cables to?
Hi Peter, I've updated the installation webpage with a diagram, I trust that helps but of course reach out if more info needed awesome.tech/mg3-install-instructions/
The fan mount in the laser where did that come from ?

Fast delivery ! But how to Activate Laser Test Button ?
Hi Jochen, does this answer your question? awesome.tech/test-fire-button-in-lightburn/
I have to be honest, it looks like a great and easy plug and play solution and replacement for the boards that come with the "K40" style engravers, however for what it is, The cost is outrageously overpriced, for what it is, if it was in the 30$ price range these boards would be a must-have upgrade, however, priced as it is, for less then 1/4 of a Mini Gerbil, can buy an Uno and CNC shield and run GRBL laser and achieve the exact same results for under $15 to $20 total as your little board is exactly that just all put together in one board.
Thanks for your comment, I understand where you're coming from. Our first Mini Gerbil product launch used an R4 Uno, not a standard Uno. We needed an R4 because you need the extra hardware timers to get 16 bit PWM. Why is that important? Because the laser has significant deadband, saturation and non-linearity. Oh, and all those factors change over the life of the laser. If you send an 8 bit signal from 0 to 255, you'll only get usable contrast levels of gray in a small subset of that. Translation: you'll get a crappy multi-gray image instead of a smooth range of gray. And even if you jigged up the 8 bit range to perfectly cover your laser output, you'd need to re-tune it over time. In contrast, 16 bit means that wherever your laser's engrave zone is, there'll be plenty of values to get a useful range of grays. As for the move to STM32, you'll note that its clockspeed is significantly higher than a Uno. This translates to smoothness of stepper motion, even at high speeds. The ticket price reflects the volume and skill of engineering to get a reliable and high performance product working out of the box, and customer service as required. If you're one of the few who has the time and the skill to develop their own solution, I salute you, as we started that way ourselves. But I do disagree you'll get 'the exact same results' with a Uno. By all means send us whatever performance specs you come up with, happy to compare side by side. Regards, Dan and the Awesome.Tech team
Well it's way cheaper than the other alternative - (cohesion board)
Observe ESD when handling pcbs. Amateurish using tape to isolate wire end.
