- The Hokies fell to the Mountaineers at home, 33-10 to fall to 2-2 on the season. WR Kaleb Smith was the bright spot for the Virginia Tech offense in the battle for the Black Diamond Trophy as he snagged 5 catches for 70 yards. One of those being a highlight-reel touchdown catch at the start of the 2nd quarter. West Virginia pulled away in the 4th quarter, scoring 17 points in crunch time.

I didn't see the 2nd half of this game live, but when I saw 33-10, I assumed there was at least 1 pick 6.

my favorite part of the game was wv doing the right thing and taking knees and both teams had all to's at end of game. Now, obviously I had the under but thats the way a game like that should end, not a team down 23 with 2 minutes calling timeouts or a team up 23 trying to score again. classy end to a dull game, unless you had the under :)

ACC probably should've added WVU and Memphis rather than Syracuse and Pitt. It's a Southern conference, those latter inclusions made no sense. Neither WVU nor Memphis are juggernauts, but are at least more relevant than Pitt and 'Cuse.
You need good programs to keep a conference viable. Pitt plays competitive against SEC, Big Ten and Big 12 teams. There is only 4-5 teams in the ACC that can make the claim. In football the ACC has Clemson, Forida State, Miami, Pitt, as the better teams. Wake Forest is close and Syracuse maybe coming up again. The last thing the conference needs is weak teams dragging it down. The ACC gets little respect nationally with the second most ranked in the top 25. The PAC and Big 12 get better press and both suck with 3-4 good team between them. The Big 10 has Ohio state, Michigan and Michigan state. It is over rated.
@@johnmcintyre9741 Pitt has been a mediocre at best program outside of a single exception of last season for their entire time in the ACC lol. Even in the weakest p5 division in all of FBS. Florida state has been down until this year, Miami is bipolar. It's certainly trending up in general right now but since he's discussing since 2012 with that realignment, no, Memphis and WVU have been vastly better than all programs mentioned (besides the obvious Clemson exclusion)
Hokies were top tier football program for many years. Mistakes were made that just made the problems speed up. I’m patient as a Hokie really hoping Coach Pry delivers, and I think he will. Also I wouldn’t crown FSU and Miami as the football schools quite yet. Best of the bad maybe. NC State sneaking around out there
As of now 🤔 some ACC teams are talking about joining The Big 12 🤨. The Big 12 are in talks to join The Pac 10 in sort of mega conference. 🎯

Honestly I really didn’t expect a good season, everything is starting from scratch. I certainly didn’t expect ODU again. I’m always going to support our guys regardless. I feel like Pry will right the ship. In my opinion the team already looks motivated and excited to be at VT !! We will be much better team next season. Excited how the D is resembling our old school days
At least we can both laugh at Miami!

I love how they bragged about VT's defense. It was the VT show on ESPN. Rightfully so because it was at VT. But if this game was played in Morgantown, ESPN would of still showed mostly VT. For the first time in over 125 years of playing football, WVU finally got a fair game by the refs. Usually WVU gets cheated or WVU will self destruct. This time WVU played a complete game. If WVU would do this the rest of the season, they could compete for the Big 12. How many other P5 teams started out their season playing P5 schools instead of cupcakes? Not many especially any SEC or Big 10 teams. With WVU, every game is a must win. WVU has to go 6-0 before they might break the top 25 rankings. Even though they are one of the top 15 schools in wins in the nation. WVU is the Rodney Dangerfield of college football. WVU never get any respect so we WVU fans will take all the wins we can get because WVU never gets any credit. Plus it puts tears in the hater beers. Lets go Mountaineers.
I know the Hokies are “rebuilding “ but man watching them commit so many penalties is painful to watch. Defense looks like it can be ok but it’s the same story year after year watching a Putrid offense. Frustrating.

I couldn’t have said it any better. I’m starting to think maybe we should have tried hiring a Offensive coordinator and see what happens. I am still a Pry fan it’s just going to take time. Something all Hokies have difficulty with , couple of years will tell us what we need to know. GO HOKIES

The Hokies won't be seeing the black diamond 💎 Trophy 🏆 for some time . VT is 23-31-1 all time VS WVU 🏈 in football . And 30-49 vs WVU all time in basketball 🏀. Never been much of a Rivalry . WVU owns the Hokies .
