Michael McCann's score/soundtrack is so damn amazing. It's not been off my phone since it made its way on there in 2011. I'm so excited to hear his work on Mankind Divided.
Warren Spector: "I didn't care if it sold three copies." Square Enix: "It didn't sell 20 billion copies in the first week? Even with the 'Augment Your Preorder?' Let's just cut this project altogether and wash our hands of it. Time to shut her down..." RIP Deus Ex
@@TheJayson8899 You are the reason why lootboxes and microtransactions exist. Seriously move out of your parent's basement, get a job and see what the real world is like.
I play it every 2 years and finish in the hardest mode especially in human revolution, they did an amazing blend of everything a gamer wants in their game: boss fights, character upgrade, sotryline, scripts, dynamics. When people asked me to finish playing cyperpunk 2077 i always brag of DX
Human Revolution had something, that very few games have - very strong philosophy and idea behind it. It wasn't only about this or that character, or certain daily experiences (even though it's incredibly important too). Micro and macro level storytelling complimented each other and created such a strong vision. Convincing and inspiring. Great in scope, yet full of little details. Amazing.
Deus Ex has always been a series that just ticked all the right boxes for me, phenomenal stories, expansive worlds, branching quests and alternate routes. Deeply enjoyable and deeply engrossing -- and yes, this absolutely goes for Invisible War as well, which I feel people give an unfairly bad rap. Smaller maps, slightly more linear gameplay, universal ammo, streamlined health/augs... all were terrible aspects, no doubt, but the fundamental gameplay remained the same and it will always be a Deus Ex title.
+Sabin1981 I totally agree with you mate. I guess the thing that hit me the hardest was the universal ammo. I understood the dumbing down of hacking and lockpicking, the simplification of interface and inventory and the small map size. But the universal ammo was like the worst game design choice ever. Still, I loved the game, finished it 5 times, two times on hardest and explored pretty much every nook and cranny. I loved that it gave me complete control over my choices and that there was no bad guy. This lack of forced morality is what I think made the game unique and worth playing.
Mircea Dogaru Goddamn that universal ammo trash, seriously :( I'll never deny that there were a lot of elements pointlessly streamlined (well, "for couch and controllers" kinda answers that one, though the PS2 version of DX wasn't so butchered) - and that universal ammo stuff will never be forgiven - but hey... the Peqods and QueeQuegs storyline alone made up for it XD
+Sabin1981 I wasn't a fan of the story itself either. I felt some plot points were forced and didn't like the endings. The shape of the world itself wasn't very appealing to me either.
This video was so well done! I loved seeing the Deus Ex legacy revisited all at once. It really shows you all the great progress that has been made since the first entry and now it's just a matter of waiting to get my hands on Mankind Divided and go on another crazy ride!
+Josh Jeggs that's a shame. I'm afraid we won't see a remaster of Deus Ex. I know the graphics and occasionally the controls are a hard pill to swallow for what we're used to today but the game is still a master-piece worth playing. I am one of those guys they spoke about in the video that still plays the game. Just finished it again on realistic a few months ago. Totally worth it.
And now Square Enix is solely interested in making live service games like Avengers. Human Revolution was a step in the right direction but let's face it SE only wants blockbuster hits like FF7 remake and nothing else.
One problem that I had with DE - MD was that some of the fights you engaged in, the opposition had been equipped with augmentations that you, and you only, had. The prototypes that I am referring to, that is.
Seems like Eidos/Square Enix really wants Mankind Divided to be big. With all this publicity going on for the game, and as a big fan of the franchise I hope the game will be fantastic.
They really fucked up the story after the 2nd game when Eidos Montreal carried on the torch. The 2nd game made a lot of mistakes but the story was still better than the new games. I can appreciate most other things about the new games though other than the fact Human Revolution was tinted yellow.
Can you please just do a fucking Deus Ex remaster please. I'm begging of you. Have Warren Spector be in lead again and have all of the gameplay features original but tweaked etc. Please guys, it makes a ton amount of sense to as well. It's my fave game of all time and I know the ins and outs of it.
+TheJayson8899 There is the _Deus_ _Ex_ - _Revision_, done by modders and available on Steam. But it hasn't got very good reviews. Major technical problems and some changed gameplay mechanics. There are also lots of other minor mods out there.
Despite lacking many of the original voice actors and characters you wanted to see, small levels, universal ammo, too short etc. Deus Ex: Invisible War scored pretty high as a game. I like it, but along w. 'Mankind Divided', they are not my favourite DX games.
"make a game more accessible" that well known ethos that is followed before a game is released, which is then found to be not as good as the predecessor.
I hope Malik and Francis will be in Mankind Divided, too :o I want this game *so bad* , I have a Deus Ex Tattoo for I think 2 years now (the [h+]3) and I hope the game gives me more symbols and ideas. I love the style and everything! *I CANT WAIT GIVE ME THE GAME GIVE ME EVERYTHING GIMME GIMME*
3:54 "What's gunna happen when we have mechanical augmentation and nano augmentation, what does it mean to be human and then on top of that what happens when you throw in AI that actually becomes sentient... AND ALL THAT STUFF CAME TRUE" - What?! No it fucking didn't what planet are you on? 🙄 Next guy: "A lot of people ask me how did you predict all this stuff" YOU FUCKING DIDN'T! What did you predict that came true? 🤔 I guess that the twin towers would go lol
Wow too make a game cos. you actually want to and with no big chief developers rushing you for the triple AAA bonus release no wander first one was a success
I'm disappointed that they didn't admit the immense failure of DX2, it was not about more choices. It was about more money by adding extremely weak consoles as platform which put back the capabilities in part even before DX1. The game lost it's soul and people hated it for that. DX3 was better but it's still a mass market game just as DX4 was. Understandable but the soul of DX1 never came back. You could replay DX1 3 times and be amazed to find entire level segments you have never seen before. This means that the game included a huge amount of content you didn't easily find. You had to dig it out. Producers don't do that anymore, every level costs money and they now are selling levels as "addons". It's the opposite of the DX1 approach where they gave you more than you could find. Another money grab was to block people from modding the game, making it better. Understandable as they would introduce free content while they want to after-sell levels and weapons to you. That's why people are not amazed anymore, that's why they play DX1 still after 16 years and barely anyone is interested in DX2 DX3 or DX4. They lost their soul. The games are still good but far from what it was once.
3:15 thats really interesting. makes me wonder about the problems teens complain about on tumblr etc and probably if i was a dev it would be a good sales decision to incorporate that kind of rhetoric into my title. no wonder i cant stand modern games.
Actually no, this would be an actual augmented genitalia in the context augmentations work on DX: HR www.dailystar.co.uk/love-sex/568421/What-is-a-bionic-penis
Invisible war was such a flop for me. The story was okay but the level design was pretty terrible. Human revolution kind of redeemed it by bringing back the original style of level design
Even 15 years after Deus Ex you can see how hyped Spector is about his game when he talks about it. He did everything right

It was actually released 24 years ago.
Michael McCann's score/soundtrack is so damn amazing. It's not been off my phone since it made its way on there in 2011. I'm so excited to hear his work on Mankind Divided.
+Bob Geldof I still prefer Alexander Brandon but McCann definitely did a great job of bringing Deus Ex into this age.
I definitely prefer Alexandor Brandon's soundtrack

I only just found the Eliza sidequest in Mankind Divided for the first time in 2024. Had no idea it existed. 🤯
