    Fabulous, I was glued to the screen. I didn't know about the Carburettor side of the business, what a brilliant operation. It is so good to know when buying carburettor parts, they are as they exactly as they should be, good quality and made in the UK.

      The closest would be an A40 Devon/Dorset Tourer, made in Australia and NZ. Or perhaps the A40 Sports, made by Jensen for Austin.

    • @Bigtbuilder
      @Bigtbuilder 14 годин тому

      @@RoyCousins that would be amazing! I am sure there would be a market for that car especially if it could be “modernised” with a hydrogen motor or even the same type of power plant that Toyota are moving towards. I.E. electric with LPG/Gas/Hydrogen generator. So much cooler than current. Roy, if I can ask, do you live in Hertfordshire?

    Fantastic! I can't believe the level of technology and precision employed to create, what is essentially, a toy! Perhaps if the British car industry had been this focused in the 70s and 80s, I might still be thriving today. A model company in both senses of the word. And the Amal carb stuff at the end was just the cherry on the cake!

    I just want to echo what others have already commented: that was absolutely fascinating. I knew the reputation of Burlen as carburettor restorers but did not know that it was the parent company of Austin Pedal Cars. Wonderful that they have retained all the new old stock parts for the 'vintage' carburettors and fuel pumps. I look forward to seeing the completion of your J40. Best wishes.

    well that was a blast!!! As a kid, I would have wanted one sooo bad, as an adult I have enough understanding as to what goes into making these and appreciate the design, engineering and manufacturing that goes into them. Its neat to see the old being replicated and continued for the present and future. I would love to see an engine or electric version of these, The bodies are so well made, wheels and tires that it is dying to have a power plant in there!!!

    That was so cool to see. It was a neat surprise to see that the SU carburetors, fuel pumps, and parts are sourced there now. I sent my HS4’s back to a rebuilder in New York and they are working beautifully on my NA MGB GT. Now I know why those parts are so expensive with the amount of sophisticated machinery cranking out all of those perfect parts. Fascinating that the testing was being done on some of the original equipment. Good show and awesome that they walked you and us through the process.
