Thanks MJL. I like this team a lot. Some of the best team defense I've seen in years. Saddens me to see Page be only a shell of her former self. One can see her frustration. Still time. Bittersweet in that her injury gave others the opportunity to step up and develop and become the team they are.
@@jackgreenway4679 Can't imagine what it's like for her. Must be surreal at times. I like this team so much. How they've matured under such trying circumstances. Still saddens me to see Page compromised this way. That said, I think this has been one of Geno's best years coaching. I hope they win the trifecta. It will be well earned and deserved.
I think people do not understand how the body works. This is only Paige’s 5th game. 3 of them were in 3 days. Ofc she’s not going to totally be back that’s a lot to ask of her and a lot of pressure on her body. She was a game time decision. She will be okay, that is just a lot on a body off an injury
Fudd UConn's women's basketball superstar in the making. She is very coachable and a very intelligent basketball player. Thankful for how she plays the game.
Thanks for uploading, this channel is great. One thing I observed, Azzi Fudd was playing long minutes. She was the only starting first five that was not substituted, from the first quarter until the 3rd quarter ended up. She is is a legitimate point guard, dishing out unbelievable assists, taking counted shots, and terrific defense. Great job!
I think she played so long because in the last game they played they had no answer for her just like this one. Yeah they took away the 3 point threat and then she started burying the 2’s. He kept Aaliyah in longer this game too. I they were the constants in this game offensively and defensively.
@@rgrey definitely especially since he says that she sometimes lacks confidence in her abilities like second guessing herself. He wants her to have all the confidence in the world right now.

Right there at 33:00/1:25:32, Christian Williams shows how to take a good defender to the hoop with a jinky, power move. That wasn't Williams' first lay-up in this game, but her gritty style contrasts with Caroline Ducharme's stealth. Sweet Caroline got three lay-ups in a row before Chrissie got that playground baller shot. But, that's not all. Nicki "Moon Ball" went nuts & hounded a Villanova player into exhaustion right around 34:00. She's the conference, defensive player of the year & she worked that girl hard, so hard, she stripped her right before the half-time whistle blew. Then, "Moonball" intercepted a pass to start the 2nd half off. Right around 48:00 the UCONN bigs lit it up with the decades old pick & roll. First Edwards, then Juhaz. A defender must go after Azzi when she's screened for the jumper. That gives Edwards two off the roll. The third quarter summary must include the fact that "Nova ran out of gas. UCONN kept rotating their players, but 'Nova kept their starting five in & they died. It was that simple. One more thing, Paige hyperextended her injured knee again. I don't know how bad the injury is, but she's not ready to play 30 minutes.

@@jaxonellis2995 they play nearly perfect defense. They held Uconn to 70 points with only 1 player over 6’ tall. That’s sound. I know it’s hard for ignorant fans to recognize, but people who know basketball can see this easily.

They are all great people and personalities. Just to pick 2, Christyn's MOP speech/ interview was so beautiful and heartfelt. And Nika so appreciative of coach describing how great the team reacted when minutes had to be adjusted. That is just not normal Keep it up ladies as we hold the fort down until Paige returns in full force.
The start was typical championship game stuff. Lots of turnovers early for both teams. Later, Nova defended well and UConn players began to see how tough it could be in the NCAA tourney. Separation for a clean shot is important. Everybody had good moments and few had more than a couple bad moments. Excellent tough game all considered. Earned Bridgeport.
just from my observation, i noticed that whenever paige is not playing, everyone looked out of place or kinda messy i would say although they still managed to score. And when she plays, their game looked smooth or systematic. So they still looked fragile to me if they go against other rank and i hope paige become much better soon
Your observation is spot on. Paige at least knows how to quarterback and run the offense. With her still recovering opposing D's will focus on her and the shock of actually playing a competitive team will manifest their fragility. Nova is ranked at 72nd in the nation and was little competition. Siegrist and 4 bench players is not even close to the competition they will face in the dance. If you saw what Kentucky did to South Carolina with Aliya Boston having a monster game you have to understand that this is a whole different situation.

In a reply to numerous comments on here. I believe Paige's issue/problem is more mental than physical. She is always the standout superstar, the go to person. She basically did what she wanted on the court last year and carried the team, always there in the clutch. Lately this year the rest of the girls are sharing the scoring, assists, etc and stats are spread out more evenly. Paige is an aggressive player and is torn right now between fitting into that mold or being the player running the show. It is difficult to change your style when you have played that way your entire life, that is how she is wired. Her hesitations now are caused by this confusion, do i shoot, do i pass, what? She doesn't want to affect the team cohesion. She will figure it out. If not this year, UConn will win the tournament the next 2 yesrs!
Happily file this under 'Rapidly Strengthening Team'..... Try picking a single Uconn player as this season's "most improved". It's no easy task because plausible strong argument can be made for over half the team!! Think about the growth of Caroline/Azzi/Aaliyah/Evina/Nika/Dorka/Christyn/Liv.
Maybe so but it worked out perfectly. Aaliyah will stay hungry in a long career as she continues to build and Christyn (such a sweet soul) got a much needed confidence builder for her last chance at a NC and beyond. And as the presenter said, her value was always getting the team going the right way in the 1st Q when there is always some doubt and concern.
