You guys should get Yoshi fixed, it will lower his aggression levels and you may find him easier to handle around other dogs as well. Take care and hoping for a speedy recovery!
This is not always the case- from experience.
But I would say you need to have a long hard think about old yoshi, dogs rarely bite once.
@@BettySwollocks13 I agree, you can´t have a dog that bites, running around the confined space of a boat, but there was no mention to his fate. All we saw, was Nadiana rolling up the dog-lead... Well Yoshi had a good couple of years in retirement, with a lot of love.
It was an accident. Yoshi got startled as she fell on him. For goodness sake sh*t happens why blame the dog for an instinctual response. I've seen Yoshi go from a hyper nervous wreck to the sweet relaxed boating dog he is now, under the loving care of these two.
@@vmine88 Lob the dog in the drink. . Stupid taking a dog on a boat in the first place. . Dogs cannot be trusted; especially one found wandering on a dock with no known history.

Seeing the one you love in such distress like that can induce shock as bad as for the injured party. You are both very brave and resilient. Sounds like Yoshi was showing some of his psychological scars from his dodgy past too! And I t was all going so very well too.
A good offshore first aid kit is essential with the stick on sutures. You both handled it like a pair of old salty sea dogs. Sending many positive waves in all three of your general directions. ♥️🙏

Doesn’t look too bad. Once it starts healing, put some vitamin e oil on it. That will help with the scar.
And rub it! My medical mother-in-law says massaging/frequent rubbing of a cut/scar from surgery etc is the best way to reduce scarring! She isn't a person to argue with - brain the size of a planet. Don't disagree with her - it is scary

Hope you are feeling better. Y'all did good. Mark, don't apologise for prices. Please continue because I find this very interesting. The pet-friendy hotel and pizzas were good deals. I loved that you were determined not to use the motor and were enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of the sea. Too many people feel they must start the engine if they go under 5 or 6 knots. We were becalmed several times on our transatlantic crossing. Once we were passed by a turtle :)

The best thing about this is you never blamed Yoshi. Can't blame the little fella as just an instinctive reaction as he was probably asleep too, his first long trip and of course you don't know his past but clearly that was out of character and you two are probably the best thing that has ever happened to him. Well done to you both.

Of all the hazards one can encounter on board a boat this was the most unpredictable. Hopefully, the incredibly brave Nadyana will make a speedy recovery. All the best to you both.
That's for sure! So many hazards are possible or known but having your pet dog snap at you in fear must be one of the rarest reasons!
Completely predictable. The dog has not been neutered and is reactive.
That dog is an ass. My neighbor across the street has one that tears out of the pool screen almost daily. He would come over to find my beagle and sit in front of my house barking until I opened the door. You try to get him home, he snaps. I'd have to walk my dog to his house for him to follow. He started to let me walk him, but after the 15th time he snapped and got my hand. I footballed him. The dog hasn't been back since. Some dogs need new homes, get rid of it.

When I was five, I had a very similar injury, I have 5 stitches but I only have a small scar now. Very brave to do it without any painkillers xxx
My heart goes out to you two. So close to your destination and poor Nadiana suffers this nasty injury. Thank goodness you managed to find a competent medical clinic to perform that quick surgery. I am sure it will heal quickly and there will hardly be any scarring after the inflammation dies down. Please tell us if there is anything we can do to help.

wow I was afraid Nadiyana hit by a boom or something falling from the mast or the spreaders, never though it would be Yoshi. Ouch dog bites really hurt, if they are in full defense mode...Yoshi looks like he sleeps really deeply or at least he was in a deep sleep which is a dangerous time to shock a dog awake. Nadiyana I hope you heal up and feel better soon. Mark you did well dealing with the emergency. Wishing you two all the best cheers

So sorry for your accident Nadiana, you will still have a beautifull smile ! your little scar will fade dont worry i bet yoshi feels bad as welfor hurting his mum l, and you asked if anyone saw a green flash, when i was 8 yrs old i saw it i yelled out what was that and the only other person who saw it was my grand father he told me ''i saw it too its very rare and you may never seeit again as it was the first time he saw it that was 50 years ago and i still remember its magnificances hope you both see it one day ,hope you feel better atleast you have a good man to support you in your recovery -love your posts fair winds and smooth seas

I am so sorry for Nadiyana's injury. I have no medical training at all. Nadiyana is so beautiful either way... but... if you are worried about the scarring, you could go to see a plastic surgeon for an opinion. Just to make sure that it will heal well. I don't know if I would be happy to have a nurse stitch me up on my face.... on scalp or leg or anywhere else, yes. I am just 20 minutes in and it looks pretty good on camera, but Nadiyana will be her greatest critic.
PS. I love that you go on about the price of things. Sometimes it feels like people just throw money away. Other times, I appreciate that you are able to find good deals or to show us that you are able to travel on a budget. So, please don't change that.

Well, that was unexpected and understand your position Mark of last weeks title. Nads even with a fat lip, still the best cooking show afloat, and a scared lip will just add to the attraction, what a trooper, i know a few who would have demanded a heli-vac for the same thing. Jokes aside, hope the healing process is going well, and we get see that smile we have all come to enjoy so much. 尊

Oh, that looked horribly painful Nadiana is such a tough cookie. If you were to ask a hundred sailors to guess how Nadiana was injured I doubt any of them would guess correctly. All goes to show with the best will in the world you can't predict the unpredictable.
But you can prepare so I Hope you two have a really comprehensive first off shore aid kit on board and if you haven’t already it may be worth looking at the HSE or MCA offshore first aid course, or if that’s too pricy it may be worth looking at te RYA or St John's first aid courses. And at the risk of stating the obvious, keep an eye out for infection Nadiana may need antibiotics, if the nurse didn't give her a precautionary does.
And thankyou for not punishing Yoshi he was only defending himself and I think you both understood that.

😱 Oh no, what a tragedy! Such an unlucky fall accident. I bet that all 3 of you additionally got shocks. I'm really glad that you have been relatively near to the main land respectively a hospital. Get well soon and don't worry about a little scar. You are very young with good healing flesh so that maybe even nothing will be seen in some time.

Keeping your cool was great! Reflectively, it is probably a great learning moment. Everything is fine right up until it isn't. Getting rest and a healthy watch schedule is important. Having a solid stepped safety plan is a critical part of things. Managing an onboard animal can be dangerous. I hope you quickly return to your vessel, make a few adjustments, and continue on. There are destined to be other challenges, and there are many more amazing sunrises and fair winds to seek.

I’ve been bit several times by dogs. My daughter was bitten above her eye when she was younger. Your lady handled the bite like a pro! Get better soon!
Even tho the pace is slow..Wow…just look at how beautiful everything is and how you’re not on land stressing out in the horrific rat race. You guys are blessed! Very sad that she got hurt but she will heal and you now have an extraordinary story to tell. It’s a frustrating ordeal when someone needs immediate help but no way to get the attention needed in the here and now. Nadiana you’re just as beautiful now as you were before the accident. I don’t know if you know about this but you can make her scar go away or almost completely gone by using a medication called “Mederma ”. Seriously it will diminish the scar but you have to put it on her lip everyday for about a month or so. It works and I personally use this for injuries that leave scars and have friends that also use it. Ok guys stay safe and be careful. God bless!

Wow what a trooper I was so impressed with Nadiana (sp?) to begin with and love her winsome buoyant perspective I was so concerned for her and still feel so bad that she was hurt. Especially how she was hurt. I am praying for you guys (I know this happened months ago) I am sure the scar will not even be noticeable
My heart goes out to Nadiana, the scar will be very small and fade away fairly quickly. you may want to think about a high quality first aid kit with sutures, pain killers and a broad spectrum antibiotic, plus a good first aid course for both of you. Oh you poor sweet girl! This kind of accident is why having a pet onboard can be a real test for the crew AND the pet! Having a small dog ourselves, he is constantly underfoot while we are traveling in our motor home and we must be very diligent to him at night because we never really know where he might show up. Thank God there was a nearby medical facility for Nadianas care! She was indeed a very brave girl and my heart ached for her!

You both seem to have handled the situation very well, with none of the over dramatics that afflicts the mainstream sailing channels, well done and hope for a quick recovery.
I am sure you are both going over the "event" and how to mitigate in future, however going to sea and going to sea taking with you an animal always has risk. I think Mark you mentioned in a previous video that you had reservations. I am sure that you will be comfortable with what ever decisions you make in light of this incident, and of course it is question of priorities.

Omg ,,, well I had exact same injury , motocross bike , over the bars hit my face on the cross bar of the handlebars ! Ouch ,,, completely through the lip , and I can confirm ,, this stitch job is the most painful thing ever ,,, I feel your pain N ,, brave brave girl ,,, it will be fine , and if there is a scar it will be one of those annoying ones that us onlookers find really attractive lol ! Well done for getting to a good hospital great decision Mark , Recover fast and recover well … xxxx
