For people saying it seems like they forgot how to play, it seems they are trying to integrate odd timings "a la Spheres" with a different tuning, and that's all. It's not a good idea, but I'm pretty sure that's what's going on since they had the crazy idea that Consuming Impulse was too primitive.
I like what Patrizio has done throughout all these years but Martin and his unique voice would take Pestilence to new levels, have you ever heard Asphyx lately?
Martin's vocals are unique in DM. I still appreciate his growling timbre which made consequently Pestilence also unique. It's not only about the songwriting skills, but about his unique timbre.
The haters on this post make me laugh, honestly. I mean, if you're going to call Jeroen Paul Thesseling a "beatnik fuckin jazz bassist", you might as well call Steve DiGiorgio a "hippie pothead".
its funny to see pestilence back playing death metal, when back about 15 or 16 yrs ago mameli said he didnt like the style and he wanted to play other stuff.. i guess reunions pay well...
It's a little off or awkward seeing Thesseling with a different bass brand. This is actually my first time seeing him with an Ibanez instead of those fretless Warwick Thumb of his.
This is one of my favorite bands of all time...yes, the bassist is supreme, some people don't even know. This performance was not too good :( For a minute there i was wondering what song they were playing. Lol. Pestilence still destroys many of these new bands these days....I wish they brought back Van Drunen on vocals though.
Damn, things have gotten worse since I last commented. "justin beiber" is gone, but not because he sucked. It's mostly due to the financial situation; Jeroen Paul Thesseling (not "justin beiber") left as he didn't want to extensively tour anymore. For all you folks that can't stand him, I might be willing to pay $1,000,000,000 to anyone that can play a 7 string fretless bass as well as he does! And so what if the guys are older? I bet some of you are as old as these guys and don't want to admit it! >:-p
+diego romero They played in E because their latest stuff was on E (and their last album on fucking 7/8 string guitars I think) But they should have stuck with D
They kicked Van Druinen out for playing as badly as they do in this video. Like seriously, what the fuck? Bum notes, timing off, kot calling pettle schwarz.
THE SOUND IS VERY BAD AND THEY DO NOT PLAY REALLY WELL, BUT WHAT THE FUCK? THEY ARE PESTILENCE AND ARE ABSOLUTE DEATH THRASH HISTORY. THEY WERE 100% ORIGINAL AND NOT LIKE PROBABLY 90% OF THE BANDS THAT ARE JUST COPYCATS. LONG LIVE CLASSIC METAL !
Pestilence is the best! ... Good presentation, Patrick Mameli is the best! with what they got ..''new''Doctrine is how good is the best band ... Pestilence Death Metal with Death ...
van drunen is an obvious influence on mameli as a vocalist, mameli sounds great on the new songs but in an song like this that van drunen has so much resistance, mameli sucks...
Erik Caballero Death metal is already complicated enough as it is notewise. Overplaying it on bass ruins it to me. Take Steve DiGiorgio for instance. He is one of the best death metal bassist actually and he strikes a great balance between heavy and notey. But I will not criticize this bass player at all. I will just say that he could sound more effective staying off of the color tones and not soloing over every pass.
Bunch of posers... i dont understand how bands that have zero og members can continue to carry on and play under the same band name and try to act like its their band.
... zero og members? What the fuck are you talking about? Mameli was actually the original vocalist even before van Drunen and he has always been the main songwriter. This lineup here is 3/4ths of the classic Spheres lineup. Have you even heard anything outside of Consuming Impulse? You calling anyone else a "poser" is pretty fucking ironic...
Pestilence its mameli's band..unfortunately they lost that very unique sound from consuming impulse..not only van drunen's voice, but also that raw, dirty guitar sound that made them so special back then. Mameli its a great musician, one of the best guitar players in DM, very underrated, but when they did that testimony album at morrisound, they sounded like another tampa bay band, not that its a bad album, its just that that album lost that escence...this performance makes them sound like a new band..i agree, they butchered this song in every way...especially with that guitar tuning..horrible

I feel so bad for jeroen. Mammeli is turning his masterpiece into a self-parody. It'd be cool to see van Drunen take the mic back in pestilence too.
Good God! I had to immediately listen to the original after hearing this mess
That "beatnik fuckin jazz bassist" also performed on two albums with a technical death metal band from Germany known as Obscura.
R.I.P Pestilence
Too bad they are not tuned in D, standard tuning ruins the songs from Consuming Impulse...Just sayin'
p.s. They need Martin Van Drunnen back URGENTLY!
No they fucking dont, Mameli is the true master mind, what fucking difference will Martin do?
Morbidxone Q A big fuckin' difference...
johnny150480 like? far as I know, mameli is the songwriter and Testimony was a great album with him on vocals.
If you bitch about the bass player, you obviously have no clue of what you're talking about. Jeroen is fucking amazing.
I think they forgot how to play this song. I also think Martins vocals were a billion times better. I miss the old line up.
totally agree with that .
Anyone calling him "justin" is just stupid. He is one of the most prominent bassists I can think of.
sounds like they didn't play this stuff since 1989 :)
The palm muting on the main riff is too dry ... the main riff sounds wrong , it is open notes not muted throughout ... disappointing overall.
0:42 Dude forgot how to play his most famous guitar riff.
I hope nobody thinks this is really Pestilence.
debgibsonfan hehe
It is pestilence that's the vocalist and guitarist look up pestilence live it's Patrick mameli
@@jim4596 they were joking
@@jim4596 more or a “this isn’t our pestilence” kinda thing
Jeroen is the Master \\m//
The haters on this post make me laugh, honestly. I mean, if you're going to call Jeroen Paul Thesseling a "beatnik fuckin jazz bassist", you might as well call Steve DiGiorgio a "hippie pothead".
Tuning in between tracks isn't that hard. They should have played in the original tuning.
vOddy they're using locking / floating trems.
They look and play as if the whole band fell into a barrel of alcohol.
This is why people are unique, this band without Martin it´s like nothing
The bass is Sting??
its funny to see pestilence back playing death metal, when back about 15 or 16 yrs ago mameli said he didnt like the style and he wanted to play other stuff.. i guess reunions pay well...
sounds nothing like the original it's out of tune ,time just out of everything ,terrible . Butchered the original
Having seen them with Martin van Drunen on vocals back in the day... god, they have become... old...
listen to hail of bullets thats where martin is now singing ...
It's a little off or awkward seeing Thesseling with a different bass brand. This is actually my first time seeing him with an Ibanez instead of those fretless Warwick Thumb of his.
this has nothing to do with out-of-body from 1990
...

Well my opinion is....Martin...you are the best!
The bassist looks like Luke skywalker
AWFULL ! ! DISGRACEFULL RENDERING OF THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK ! ! ! MY EARS ARE BLEEDING ! ! !
yes, where's martin?
ras124 Martin left the band in 1990
hey, youre a fart smeller, I mean, a smart feller
Are they on drugs? This is terrible and they seem awfully "off".
+Dave Drummer The original version sounded like it was in D, this version sounds like it is in E standard. It does sound quite a bit off.
+Chris Holland that's not what I mean. the performance is just awful.
Yeah it is not that great

i think it was good
Whereis this badass dude with bass? From the original video
in asphyx
When they come out uh the fukkin Booodoooy
And the D tunning? in E sounds bad.
+diego romero They played in E because their latest stuff was on E (and their last album on fucking 7/8 string guitars I think) But they should have stuck with D
thanks dude.
i love this bands, and this song is awsome, but i hate when they change the tuning, it sounds fucking different..
is this Ptrick?
Привет с Украины. Супер. Молодость. Драйв.
Where is long haired dude with bass?
why dude playin his cello like a bass?
Drummer doesn't know Foddis's parts, kind of sad to miss all of those fills.
One of the bands that just need to call it a day....I almost got a stroke from the song.
da fuck?
They kicked Van Druinen out for playing as badly as they do in this video. Like seriously, what the fuck? Bum notes, timing off, kot calling pettle schwarz.
oh nooooo!!!!! what´s that???
This ruled for sure!
ENSCHEDEEEEEEEEEEEEEE RULEZZZ
Fantástic death metal 🤘🎸☠️😎🇧🇷👏👍👊
The bassist makes the rest of the band laughable.
+Slim Jim He's a legend
i think the noobs dislike jeroen because he's not a skinhead.
Nice
@CannibalizedUK That's what time does to ya.
the lost there soul there soul is MARTIN VAN DRUNEN
istanbula bekleriz....................

look to the drummer
riff sounds off, not even just the tuning
Thesseling left Obscura for this shit?
He's joined obscura again a year or 2 ago full time and is on their newest album A Valediction.
10 year old comment, bro. I genuinely don’t care anymore.
কোন জায়গার থেকে গাজা স্কোর করসে এরা ? আমিও করব !
Is this even pestilence. because there's no way a bald metal band can play pestilence
Martin van Drunen PLZ RETURN HAHAHAHA
horrible, horrible.....the worst Pestilence that i ever saw!!!!
van drunen is an obvious influence on mameli as a vocalist, mameli sounds great on the new songs but in an song like this that van drunen has so much resistance, mameli sucks...
well, they look like cover band with 40+ musicians with midlife crisis
Wow was just listening to the original version and this is absolutely fucking horrible
MARTIN VAN DRUNEN no1 ;)
Well, this sucks.
Yeah the new Pestilence albums are a joke!
the bass player is ruining the vibe. he may be hella good but its true. sorry.
St. Macarius he's one of the best death metal bassist actually
Erik Caballero Fair enough
Erik Caballero

These comments remind me to read less comments.
It amazes me that this 7 year old video still gets comments on it.
read this, pestilence can't even keep a straight note.
Terrible perfornance.
Martin Van Drunen stay where you are. Patrick Mameli is better vocalist than you. :(
