  • In this video we rebuild the double barrel wood stove in the greenhouse and start a roaring fire. We got the greenhouse temp up to nearly 70 degrees! We also detail our plan to move the pigs into the greenhouse with the chickens to prep the soil for spring. Oh yeah, our rooster almost caught on fire 😆. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

    A little about us:
In September 2015, our hearts were hijacked with the dream of living on a large farm, with community, growing food, caring for animals and loving on children in need of care and healing. It was a God moment, where our dreams collided with His dreams… a dream so big we could never do it in our own strength and wisdom. Since then, we have been on a journey to see that dream become a reality. This channel documents that journey.

Nice work! One tip though would be to put ear protection on when pounding t-posts --you would be surprised how hearing is affected long term.

Hi, thanks for the videos! I plan on following your lead with placing the piping out the fan frame. We're going to install a Clayton Hotblast wood furnace in the next couple weeks. If you don't have one already, I suggest adding a spark arrestor to the end of your pipe outside. This will prevent any flammable debris from exiting the pipe and landing on your greenhouse plastic. Take care!

Do the ashes that escape through the smoke stack ever burn holes in the plastic?

I used a wood heater in the house. Just a 15 gallon barrel. And 4" pipe. Every so often I had to clean that pipe out I assumed because there's not enough pitch to tha pipe. Have you had any issues make you have to clean that pipe?

If it’s 30f at night how warm would the stove keep it inside without the sunlight in the daytime?

You can trim their flight feathers on one wing only, making them lopsided so they can’t fly (as well)

    Uummmm…
    Strong suggestion…
Broad cast your poultry feed in several different areas n directions. It makes it easier for everyone to get some , n it’ll spread out their scratching action

I’m thinking about making a green house not nearly as large as yours, and I’m amazed how well your furnace warms up your green house. How often do you have to refill the furnace before it gets to cold? Do you constantly have to refill it, or does keeping the green house closed help the heat retain for long periods of time?

Adding the exact same setup to my greenhouse. Question, did you use single wall for the entire run?

Why such a tall greenhouse? No judgement. I'm just thinking that's a lot of space to heat. I'm sure there is a reason. I just don't know what it is
