Oh my goodness I feel you on not liking spiders in my space. I live in the country and they are always breaking into my house LOL. My son bought me a bug catcher - one of those hand held things where you can pick up the spider from a safe distance and what I do is just put them back outside. Best gift ever!
Oh, and suggestions for new videos (yes, I know I've suggested a lot) but PLEASE create a video re: Shipping, especially International Shipping Rates. So many of my customers are International and whatever is getting set up to cover Shipping in my POD (Printify) isn't enough, I'm losing money with every Sale, and to increase my prices would not be competitive. Perhaps a video about pricing in general, what is competitive for t-shirts? Thank You!
There’s a way you can set a shipping price for all other places that’s not the US. (Assuming you live in America) You’ll have to go to your print settings on Etsy.
Heather, I just found you today, and not only are you beautiful, you're information is excellent! This business model is one of the best and the most affordable to start out with...Woot! I subbed!
I am an artist and designer and I"m wondering if when I paint something for Etsy t-shirts, can I put my signature next to my artwork, so the customer knows my work is original? Thanks..Heather, you rock!
I've been seeing this trend and the Y2k. Since my store is still slowly growing, I just wasn't sure how to incorporate this with my other "niches". Thank you for the design examples.
You actually can use the basic POD graphics on Creative Fabrica to use to sell shirts and other POD end products, but....you must add elements that make it quite different than the original. That is, if you have the subscription. I have the subscription version and I LOVE it. I didn't know there was an ACTUAL name for this kind of shirt. I was just thinking it was hippie, vintage or boho style of graphics. Good to know. I love watching your tutorials, they are very helpful. Thank you. I always make all designs for tshirts, a 5000x5000 canvas. So you can start out big and then go small, without losing the quality of the graphics.
thanks for clarifying this.. kind of confusing terms I always use the designs to create my own unique ones but never thought anything about them being different
It's also against Etsy's policy to have a t-shirt printed with a design you didn't make. If we're sticking to the rules here, your shop's designs must all be something you designed to be unique, so you can't just slap a purchased pic on the shirt and call it done. Taking multiple files and 'collaging' them into one design and/or adding some lettering is the easiest way to make it your own.
Is anyone else documenting and sharing their pod journeys? It’s nice to have the info wrapped in a bow by a pro. But I want to see the trial and error as well. I also think having someone to root for is the inspiration we all need.
If you join my PODfriends FB group I created it for this exact reason. Plenty of people in my group who document when they get their first sales and post screenshots of their stats: facebook.com/groups/219409480404668
Hi Heather, what happen when you don't have any longer paid subscription with them can we still go on using there design for POD or we have to stop using it, please help And really thank you for such wonderful information
i know with another platform I used, you would lose rights if unsubscribed (vexels) i think, i will never use them again, probably similar to this but i dont know, kind of sucks if you are doing POD and then for some reason have to unsubscribe then go back through 1000's of designs to delete said items, but i think if you make quite a bit of change to graphic and dont just copy pixel for pixel then you would be ok
Another great video! Thanks for the tip on the new sizing to use in Canva, and I HAVE to say don't be killing those Spiders and Bugs! The little black spiders are known in England (where I'm from, now living in CA) as "Money Spiders" they are bringing you luck!
oh no! My little money spiders must be where I've been getting my Etsy sales, I've been killing my money this whole time! 😅 Love this comment, thank you as this is interesting!
Quick question, I try never to use a design others have already used but it’s hard to look at all Etsy designs in that exact category how do you avoid this?
Thank you for the informatioon, as always. On a side note, could you remove the spider next time? You'd be surprised how easy they are to trap. Spiders are cool.
I bought a bundle of mockups from the Etsy store I'm done designing them what is the next step? can I download them directly to Etsy or do I need to download them from printify and connect to Etsy? thank you girl I keep watching your videos inspire me.
Hi, I know that at times I seemed lost.. but like the saying goes, ' The expert was once a beginner ' Anyway, from the bottom of my heart,I thank everyone 🙏💕..
When you are placing the image on Printify, how do you know how big to make it where it doesn't look too big or too small? Is it best to make sure the design is as wide as the rectangle box they give you on a shirt? Thanks in adavance!
Interesting video. I never kill spiders. If they are not venomous I let them stay. If you don't like bugs you should love spiders because they eat bugs. More spiders means less bugs. Heidi
Hi there! Quick Q: I heard from another Etsy seller that you are allowed to use commercial licensed products on creative fabrica, however, you need to alter or add to the graphic. Can you confirm this is not true? Thank you so much!
I would have thought that each design should be saved as a separate file, I was surprised to see you save four of them as one file! How does that work for the subsequent steps? Btw, I sometimes find scorpions in my house, so be grateful that you only get bugs and spiders 😉
Hi Heather, thanks for the great videos. Could i ask how to find good facebook groups to join to post items to? Also did you make a Facebook page or just a profile? Thank you.
Hi Heather! So I know in the video you say we can’t use things from CF if it doesn’t say POD usage allowed, so I’m a bit confused. I’m on CF right now and when I filter the freebies with POD license and click the ones I like it says “commercial usage allowed - all of our freebies come with our commercial license. (Basic POD)” Just wondering is it different because I’m using the free version?
@@SonofChrist77 from what I understand you can still use it with basic POD but as a part of your design, let's say one element of your design, CF licenses explain that. With full POD you can put it on without changing anything, which I guess is easier to remember and for non creative people this is easier way.
Love love all your videos! So much good info. You probably already have but I can’t find it, I need a tutorial on how import the fonts to Canva. Please direct to the right place please!
On the Canva home screen, click on "Brand Kit" on the left, then you'll see a section that says "Brand Fonts" with a button that says "Upload Font." You can then upload a font from your computer. If you cant find a tutorial, hopefully this helps.
@HeatherStudio Just found you with this particular UA-cam Live, and I have a question!! Is POD only for those doing Tshirts, Hoodies and that sort of thing? What about selling things which we create and the end user would print out, like monthly planners & weekly planners? Are we still only able to use allowed "pod" designs for those or can we "commercial license" images - or is it possible to use Both "pod + commercial" for these planners???? I just subscribed to your channel; love it!!!
POD has 1000+ items so it's not limited to apparel. There are ways to do planners and there is a company Lulu that does this(not intergrated with Etsy yet as far as I know). From what I have heard, you need a license to state POD & commercial use to use. Some companies have gotten more specific as I have seen. Hopefully this helps! :)
@@itsheatherstudio I'm not doing POD clothing at all, just printable planners the end user will print out on their own computer. What kind of license are you referring to that's needed for commercial use, and would I need that? What if I'm not doing "books" per say? I just want to sell on my own website... as mentioned, printable planners that the end user will print on their own computer? Do I need a license for that, and what kind of license is that?
Hi heather, hope you can help me. I can’t seem to find any fonts that are commercial and pod allowed on creative fabrica… any suggestions? I’m finding this extremely frustrating as all of them have commercial use only!
I've had panic attacks due to bugs, I feel ya. LOL Bugs are diSGUSTING. Spiders are the worst, and I live in the south in a basement level apartment situation so spiders love it here and so do the disgusting looking crickets and beetles. Needless to say, bugs have made it so that I'll be dying 20 years earlier because they have taken years off my life. Also, a centipede once made an appearance. Let's just say, I ran. RAN. and I don't often run but that centipede made me have super speed because I wasn't about to be near it.
I just take any design element I want from any page anywhere. Then I place it in photoshop and manipulate it to be an original. Waaaay easier than buying subscriptions, figuring out what's fair game and worrying about it.
Some people make them at home with DTG or DTF printers or white toner printers. Buying shirts from shirt suppliers, is waaaayyyy cheaper than POD shirts.

Do you normally only do one color of shirt vs allowing buyers to choose their color?
I keep a bug bottle and get the spider in it and throw the spider outside. No smashing necessary. 😃🕷️🕸️
