I apparently have a guard poodle. He barks anytime there is someone within visual distance outside. The minute I look through the window he stops, I guess comforted that I don't find anything troubling. But it's hella annoying because there is someone outside multiple times a day. And if I don't go to the window to check it out, he will keep barking until I take a look myself.

Our neighbor has a standard poodle that does the same. Plus they have three poodles. Unfortunately they also don't spend enough time exercising them. I have a toy poodle that rarely barks -- only if he can't reach his favorite ball or 1 out of 10 times when he is left alone. I will be working with leaving him alone a lot more, it was a bit difficult with online uni. My advice to you is to limit his acmes to windows. Ofc that maybe super difficult depending on your house.

@@edagrlr i close the blinds where i can but he can still see between the blades. Also, he can hear from the back of the house if someone is making noise across the street. I try to get exercise in. Morning walk, then either evening walk or trainung class or dog park, on weekends we hike, go to the beach, hit up dog parks, or walk through the city center. Mondays he usually sleeps in an exhausted heap but by Tuesday he has all the energy again and I have to work. I couldn't imagine having more than one.

@@darkwingduckie7 poodles are so full of energy! Sounds like you do everything amazingly for physical exercise. We also use lots of interactive toys that will tire him mentally. We have a few kongs, a lick mat, trick dispensing balls and puzzles. I love puzzles from Nina Ottossan. They have different levels. I think poodles are clever enough that you can maybe skip level 1. These sort of toys are also great distractions when they have to be left alone. Little short training sessions during the day help tire them out. Poodles are great with tricks. By teaching your dog new tricks you can keep his mind busy and give him a job. I have the 51 Tricks to teach your puppy book but there are also lots of videos available online.

@@edagrlr I've bought him puzzles, level by level he figured out the hardest ones by 6 months, like he does them in about 2 minutes by now, then is bored again. We do Rally and Agility and practice at home, he also just passed the CGC at 9 months. We will continue on training for the advanced and Urban ones. He is one smart spoo.
