In a kitty's world, it all about scents. He's in a new place with new scents and sounds and rhythms. Cats do not like change! Having another cat adds to the "wrong scent" message, hence the hiding and aggression. Sleeping in his cat box is the best to begin with because, of course, it will "smell right!" After a while, scents begin to mix, including that of the other cat, and things settle down. Everything begins to smell like it should because it has become "the same." It's no longer "different" or "wrong." He's a lovely boi! Congratulations that he decided to adopt you! You're lucky. He chose you!
Absolutely! Cats are very sensitive to scents, and adjusting to a new environment can be overwhelming for them. It's amazing how they gradually adapt and make a place their own. Thanks for your insightful comment! 😺🏡
My wife & I adopted a feral cat a handful of years ago. She was very aggressive at first so we had to lock her away in a spare room so she wouldn't interact with our other cat, but eventually, she kind of just figured it out. Now she's a plump sweetheart who loves to cuddle.
What a heartwarming transformation! It's amazing to see how patience and love can help feral cats blossom into cuddly companions. Thank you for giving her a chance and providing her with a loving home! 🐾❤️
Bodhi was just terrified!! He was treated badly and his only comfort was the bathroom!! He doesn't have to worry about that!! Charlotte is determined to love him unconditionally!! This story is just Completely Awesome!!❤😊!!
Absolutely! Bodhi's journey from fear to love is truly heartwarming. With Charlotte's unconditional love and care, he's found the safety and comfort he deserves.❤️🐾
Bodhi is gorgeous and very sweet in his own way and bless you for rescuing and fostering him 😻❤️❤️❤️! Of course, no one knows what poor Bodhi may have gone through to get as scared and feral as that beforehand but he is clearly showing who he truly is to you now ❤️!!
Each cat is unique I have adopted a young adult cat. He just started hanging around looking for food. He was skinny i caught him in a cage and got him checked over and desexed. We have a lot of wild cats in the area. I let him go and thought that would be that. He was so scared of being in a cage. Thought he would run away. But no he was here at feed times. Started to make my place his home. Slowly we made friends This was all directed by him. He was free to come and go. Now he loves being inside curled up in a cat bed. Loves toys. Loves coming to say good morning. Still not keen on going into a cage but with food and time he does let me take him to the vet under protest
What a heartwarming story of trust and companionship! It's amazing to see how your cat has transformed from a wary visitor to a beloved member of your household. Thank you for your patience and kindness in allowing him to find his way into your heart and home. 🐾❤️
I've NEVER heard that an adult cat is the way it is and won't change. What a load of nonsense. Every animal will blossom with love; they have an amazing ability to change, no matter how old.
You're absolutely right! Love and patience can work wonders for animals of any age, helping them to thrive and grow. It's inspiring to witness the transformations that occur when they're given the care and understanding they deserve. 🐾❤️
I know quite a few PEOPLE who become aggressive if someone disturbs them when they are in the bathroom. Maybe they are feral. Bodhi knows it is much better to be locked in the bathroom than being locked out!
When i adopted my kitty, she spent 20 days in the closet until one day i was baking a pizza, and she comes out from behind the oven, warm and less afraid. She is still afraid of people, but we sleep together and love each other so much after 2 years together.
What a beautiful journey you and your kitty have had! It's heartening to hear how she gradually became more comfortable in her new home, and the bond you share is truly special. Thank you for giving her the love and patience she needed to thrive! 🐾❤️
I adopted a 4 yr old tnr feral, it took time because he was terrified but he's my luv bug now though pretty much a one woman kitty. We are both grateful for the companionship.❤🕊
Bless your heart. I adopted my ex-feral kitty at 4 months (street birth) and she was so scared, living in the closet for over 2 weeks. She is now 2 and a half, and sleeps with me at night. She is afraid of everyone else, and it took 2 years for my mom to be able to touch her. Adopting is very rewarding because earning the trust and saving the life of a precious ball of fur is special. Best wishes to you and your lil kibby cat.
What a wonderful bond you've formed with your feral kitty! It's heartwarming to hear how he's transformed into your loving companion. Thank you for opening your heart to him and providing him with the love and care he needed. ❤️🐾
🤧 aww he's so gorgeous, bless you for saving him and giving him a terrific forever home with fur siblings. And for putting up with the scratches and biting, its worth it in the end. Cracking good video thanks for sharing 🖤😎👍
Ahhh, you’re gettin the cat stoned. 🤣👍🏻. I’m 65, in the basement since 1973 smoking weed and I run across this. Laughed myself silly. Thanks, I needed that
Note: They don't like to be pet when eating. If this doesn't make sense, ask yourself if you'd like someone stroking your head while you are having dinner. This is just common sense, geared to help those that might not get it. All the best.
Absolutely, it's important to respect their boundaries, especially during mealtime. Just like us, cats appreciate a peaceful dining experience. Thanks for sharing this important reminder! 🐾🍽️
I went through this with my cat when I first adopted her. Went into hiding every time I came near her. Now, I'm her BFF. Food, patience and making them feel loved and comfortable can work wonders.
We spent over a year befriending a Persian cat who camped under our house, but Dad finally won his heart over and he became Dads lap cat. Dad would sit and watch his iPad and Lord Nelson would run in and jump into his lap and would not move not even for food, I had to bring the dish to him 😹he was one very spoiled baby. He only had one eye that’s why we called him Lord Nelson 😹😹
What a precious bond! Lord Nelson found his perfect match in your dad. It's heartwarming to hear how he became such a cherished member of your family. Thank you for sharing this adorable story! 🐾😺❤️
Bodhi is gorgeous! Can't resist a handsome ginger boy! Btw, whomever told you that crap about adult cats being who they are and not changing or adapting is ridiculous. Cats are the same as you and I. When they are cast head first into the unknown, they are going to exhibit all the same reactions, fears, anxieties we would, but... they can't talk so they act out. Let the poor boy settle. How would you feel if somebody abandoned you and locked you in an empty store for daysand days? Not so hot, I'm guessing.
Thank you for your kind words about Bodhi! You're absolutely right-cats, like us, can experience fear and anxiety when faced with new situations. Giving them time and patience to settle in is crucial for their well-being. Your empathy and understanding mean a lot! 🐾❤️
i once had a cat like that. stuck under the spare bed. did not wanna come out. only for food at night. eventualy i had to bring him back to the shelter. he affectect my other cats to much....don't realy know what happend to him after that. at that time i did not have the time to invest. i can only hope he found someone as patient as you are to this one.
Just like a insecure person you have to give them time to get to know and trust you before they will open up to you and really get comfortable around you
All it takes to gain the confidence of our new found cat)the reactions maybe due to post traumatic situation they must have through their last owners), she, the cat takes a baby step to gain her confidence. You’ll make her good Loving 😸😺😺😸😺😻Mama. Confidence, Love & Trust both sides needed to show to each other. 👍😻😸
Alone, confused, terrified, and most likely heartbroken from being dumped. He is terrified. Let him come out on his own terms. It takes at LEAST three days just to decompress before anything
You're absolutely right. It's crucial to give cats like Bodhi the time and space they need to feel safe and secure. Rushing their adjustment can add to their stress. Thank you for your understanding and empathy toward fearful cats like Bodhi! 🐾❤️
Every CAT change and get adorabel just give them Time to climatice. I had 6 al different caracters and all adorabel. Two stay Cats. Just give them Time, leave them allone with the door Open. They will come.
Absolutely! Giving cats time and space to adjust is key. It's heartwarming to see their personalities shine once they feel safe and loved. Thanks for sharing your experience! 😺💖
When our little ginger guy first started appearing in our yard he was very anxious and aggressive. He seemed to like hanging about. He would have liked it even more if we weren't there. I felt sorry for him and we just let him hang around at our place, even though he'd hiss and swipe at us in our own yard. We wouldn't approach him and just let him do his own thing. We just tried to show him patience and kindness. Then one day a switch seemed to get flicked and he suddenly fell head over heels in love with my wife. Nowadays he's Boo, our little floofa, who follows me everywhere I go. Apparently I've become his cat-daddy and I hear my wife constantly saying "You two !". 😊 I made it my mission to turn him from a sad and angry fellow into a happy guy. It makes me happy every day to see him living his best life.
ABsolutely -- I've had multiple fosters and a couple who came in totally stressed out and HATING me. But by the two-week mark, they always settle in and can indeed become very loving cuddle kitties. Every animal is an individual and these blanket statements and generalizations about cats need to be jettisoned once and for all.
It's That animal can change part. From hell to heaven in Away. Specially dogs. Think off all that trauma people Carry for decades or maybe even a life time. Dogs in particular can shake it off with in a couple Weeks 😮
The cat is terrified because upon entering the house he felt the presences of negative/evil spirits your home need a spiritual cleaning , the look in the. Cats eyes is the tell tale sign that he is witnessing the presences of those spirits
You are doing it the wrong way! What you should do is enter the room then ring a little bell then leave a plate of food on the floor and then leave. Do it several times. The cat will associate the bell with happy times and will accept and trust you.
You tried to get to the pets stage way too quickly. The best way to progress is to just talk in a relaxed tone while they eat, and do NOT try to touch them. Over a couple of weeks they will come to you for touch. And that is the golden rule, never initiate touch, that is up to the cat.

Ive been rescuing for over 30yrs. Most cats can absolutely be rehabbed if you make the investment of love and time.
Patience and love is the best prescription. BTW this works for people too.

It is always so meraculous to see a feral come around and express affection and love.

Exactly!
One of mine, who started out shy and testy at 2, CONTINUES to mellow and become even sweeter as she approaches 14.
You're absolutely right! Love and patience can work wonders for animals of any age, helping them to thrive and grow. It's inspiring to witness the transformations that occur when they're given the care and understanding they deserve. 🐾❤️

They say you can't teach an old dog or cat new tricks. But with a little love and patience it is possible!

I'd be upset too if you tried to brush me with a Toilet Brush 😢

Nice .
Why did she use that dirty brush for the cat?!!
😮😢❤😊
I would also swipe if I was prodded with a toilet brush 😂
it's a barker!
That's not always true. If you spend enough time with them, be patient and let them go at their own pace, they will eventually come around.

Truth? That thumbnail scared me.
I’m always grossed out by cats walking around toilets . I would want to keep my cats out of the bathroom if I had cats .

The cat is terrified because upon entering the house he felt the presences of negative/evil spirits your home need a spiritual cleaning , the look in the. Cats eyes is the tell tale sign that he is witnessing the presences of those spirits
Local woman on anti-depressants uses cats as surrogates for children she failed to have.
wish you didn't touch him with the toilet brush
His area is too enclosed it is a threat as far as he is concerned
Idk. Going after him with a toilet brush doesn’t seem overly friendly. But I’m not a new Yorker…
You are doing it the wrong way! What you should do is enter the room then ring a little bell then leave a plate of food on the floor and then leave. Do it several times. The cat will associate the bell with happy times and will accept and trust you.
He didn’t have the lone brain cell for awhile

🥰🥰🥰💙🙏🏼
poor cat why he lives in the bathroom? very bad owner.
Touching him with the toilet brush 🤢
My sons name is called Bodie also spelt Bodhi❤
You don't mess with an animal while it's eating, drinking or, in the case of cats, using the litterbox. It's basic common sense. 🤬
You tried to get to the pets stage way too quickly. The best way to progress is to just talk in a relaxed tone while they eat, and do NOT try to touch them. Over a couple of weeks they will come to you for touch. And that is the golden rule, never initiate touch, that is up to the cat.
