Thank you for this wonderful information. I grew up on a 30 acre farm in a very rural area of the Southern United States. Our closest neighbor was over a mile from our farm, and they still had an outhouse and drew their water from a well in their backyard when we moved away from the area in the late 1970's. We always had several acres of gardens on the farm, and my Nanny and Papa always used lime on all of their gardens. I don't know why modern gardeners and homesteaders act like the only time you are supposed to use lime is when you need to lower the ph in your soil. Like you, my grandparents used it to not only lower the ph, but to improve the soil structure, and to kill parasites in the soil. At 58, with all three of our children grown and living their own lives, I just recently finally achieved my dream of moving back to the country to grow heirloom organic vegetables, and raise heritage breed chickens for fresh organic eggs. I am having to re-learn many of things my grandparents taught me about gardening and farming, that I have forgotten. My next goal is to start raising my own meat and dairy animals. With all the poisons they put in our food here in the U.S., it is important to grow or raise your own food if you want to live a healthy life. Your channel has been a great help to me, in helping to remind me of the ways in which my grandparents dealt with different gardening issues. And I definitely recall them putting lime in all of our gardens before they began planting. Thank you, and please keep the videos coming. You have a lot of knowledge that is useful to all of us beginning our gardening and homesteading journey. God bless you!
