Vince artistic vision & expression way better. He more well rounded as an ARTIST. He just so happens to express himself through the medium of rap. Cole is a rapper first. His main selling point is his rapping ability & his pen. His artistic vision isn’t as sophisticated as Vince’s but he can rap really well. Vince’s music & his projects are like pieces of art that can be displayed in a museum amongst the most bougie audiences and not feel out of place. When I hear Vince music there is a certain musicality I gravitate to that Cole’s music doesn’t have. A simple way to explain it is that it feels like Vince is rapping with a band behind him vs Cole it feels like he’s just rapping on a beat. Neither is technically better than the other due to art being subjective, but I prefer the artistic style & approach of Vince’s music much more.
I don't think this is a good comparison, but what I can say, there's probably a larger than expect number of people that find Vince Staples (post pandemic especially) more enjoyable to listen to
Ehh tough one. Better all around rapper is probably Cole, but Vince is nice. Vince is better at constructing an album, Cole is probably a better lyricist.
I’m not the biggest fan of either music but there’s really only one way to look at it. During j Cole’s prime, he was no less than top 3 in the genre. Vince isn’t even top 3 out of California lol. How is this a conversation?
By your logic Drake was also in the top 3. Because you're basing this on popularity and success. Acclaim and actual music quality which a small number of people actually appreciate J Cole is in the league with Will.iam

This battle apology has really given y'all with the most trash Cole takes the boldness to spread your nonsense everywhere like you're right.
It's Vince all the way and it's not even close. Cole has one thing over him which is the rhyme schemes admittedly, however he isn't using that to say things that are ultimately substantive or groundbreaking. Cole makes you think you are smart, Vince actually makes you think and that's the difference. Cole wants you to think there's depth in his messages because of how complex the schemes are (it's mostly boasting and scolding), whereas Vince instead presents complex messages relatively straightforward.
1. No 2. Cole doesn't say anything of substance?! MY Lord, have y'all had your ears for years?! 3. You're talking out your ass! J Cole has done it all, boasted, love songs, conscious music. "Cole wants you to think his music is deep cos of rhyme schemes"? My gosh, what a terrible take. Is this the state of rap fans?! 🤣 Vince is not a better rapper than Cole in any technical aspect, including messaging. The 2 things Vince may have over Cole is his ability to craft albums better and being more experimental. But there's no world Vince out raps Cole. @@MaxwellAyo "Vince's albums are better but Cole is a better rapper" I have news for you friend for what that means 😭 Like I get that you have different tastes and that's fine but I'm talking substance. What groundbreaking thing has Jermaine said? I'll give you credit if you can name even a few. Also, saying that he makes different styles of songs doesn't negate what I was saying lol. Sure he makes love songs but "No Sleeep" and "Come Thru and Chill" are better songs without his cringey bars on them. Did you already forget "Grippy"?? 😭😭😭 Be so fr!!! @@lowtech42 I am only going to say 1 thing. Just because you can craft better albums, it doesn't make you a better rapper. Crafting albums is only 1 part of being an artist. Just because your albums are more cohesive doesn't mean you're a better artist, it simply means you're better at that 1 rubric. Also, you're referencing "Grippy" as if all the GOATs haven't had bad verses. Lil Wayne has bad bars and bad verses littered all across his discography. Jay Z too, I can go on. You mention his one bad verse and ignore the fact that he has hands down been the best feature rapper in the game for the last 6 years?! Like it or not, hate him or not, J Cole put himself in the Hall Of Fame for the best feature rappers. Tell me where Vince is at on that list. Album crafting is only 1 aspect of being a great artist. Also, just because Vince Staple crafts albums better doesn't mean J Cole's albums are trash. You can say some have been mid or they've not quite hit the heights they could if he took more risks. But J Cole average album is a good album. And his mixtapes were great. Y'all be listening to Fantano and underestimating man's catalogue. Go talk to the real consumers and legends of hip hop and see what they actually think of J Cole. Y'all weird af with these takes. You're here focusing on the *very very few* Ls J Cole has had and none of his Ws?! If in a 15 year career, you can only mention 2 to 3 Ls, then that's an amazing career. The day Vince Staples makes a song that hits the general public like Be Free, come talk to me.
@@lowtech42 Oh, and one thing. The Lil Pump comment, bro, how old are you?! If you think that what happened with Lil Pump was Cole folding/apologising/weak, then it tells me the kind of person I am talking to and you have a WHOLE lot of growing up to do. I guess all them lessons Vince Staples put in his albums went in one ear and right out the other.
@@MaxwellAyo The irony is that that 1 thing you have to say in defense of Cole contradicts itself lol You say Vince only has one thing over Cole (making consistent albums) as a way of discounting him but then when it comes to Jermaine and his one thing (being a feature killer) as a reason why he's GOATed. I think you typed too much to really hear yourself lol but look man it's okay, I get that he's your fave so you want to defend him. However I'm not being unreasonable with my critique, he's had these issues since day one and instead of listening to people like me, only people like you drown out any constructive criticism that keep him from improving in critical areas so he can **earn** that HoF status instead of constantly claiming it only to drop the ball when it comes time to show and prove. That's why I pointed out his flaws because he keeps making these mistakes at critical moments that YOU brought up! You brought up the love songs point > I point out how bad his verses are > You: "every rapper makes mistakes" 😂 Dog be so fr! If you can't be honest about his flaws then you are doing more damage to his image and legacy than anything I could say. The difference between Jay, Wayne's, etc. bad verses is that they have critically acclaimed classics to their name whereas Cole doesn't. Jay & Wayne are feature killers with critically acclaimed classic albums (Vince does this too btw). Jermaine just has albums. Don't take my word for it, go look at the metacritic scores if you want to have a fair appraisal of your fave. Or don't if you wanna just defensively debate lol Cold world!

I don’t like how shawn is parading the apology still and how Cole don’t hit the same anymore, knowing what went down in the beef. I also feel for some reason, over the past few years, he’s started to shit on Cole more often.
Because Cole has been fake for the last few years, the apology is the culmination of him taking accountability for being something he wasn't.
and how ironic 3:47 this mf said coles verse on "Johnny p's caddy" didnt AGE well but...cole starts his verse as follows, "on the day i was BORN" like the irony in that is almost eerie lolll
Benny outshined him on that
@@zayytesla that’s preference bro which is fine but real rap fans is understand wat Cole did on that track
@@babyyb0i u just opposed my opinion with another opinion. Again Benny outshined him and im a fan of both. If you think you’re a real rap fan because u recognize Cole had a decent verse is some elementary shit but Ight.
J Cole freestyle vs Vince Staples freestyle la leakers.
Funny how there's a Kendrick vs Wayne conversation and now there's a J. Cole vs Vince conversation
I’m confused as to how Vince is the “easy answer” lol I love Vince, probably more than Cole but more people know Cole over Vince
Well i mean to answer the question i believe we assume you have to have listened to both, thats why nobody cares about drake fan’s opinions cause we know they don’t listen to enough artists to be relevant
Vince music has more depth to it, in my opinion. Even his earlier work has this. Limos, Nate, Lift Me Up. Don't get me started on his last three albums. Cole is great and is a better lyricist, which is why he has more moments and quotables, but Vince is a better complete package. Better production and very versatile.
I do gotta give it to Cole cause their skill level is a LOT closer than stans will believe, but I think Vince has hit a higher quality threshold overall
I give it to Vince but i also agree that it’s really close. Discography is what sets them apart but their ability damn near puts them in the same tier
Shawn argued why Vince's pen was better than Cole's then went on to say it wasn't.
Thank you for the summation you're a real one for that PEACE

Last FM smokes anything cole had done in the last 10 years and thats a 15 minute project 😂
Content, Bars, and Delivery. Cole's bars are better but the content vince raps about and the delivery he raps with is way more compelling than Cole.
Way more compelling ? Lol Just say you like what Vince raps about and you relate to him more.
@@curtiszyr i do like it more but im tryna expain why so we can have an actual discussion. i honestly relate to cole more, but vince's personality is more interesting. i feel like Cole says boring and corny shit pretty often, Vince almost never does.
'Way more compelling' is a dumb way of putting it, I just mean that Vince's persona is more likable
I don't think this is a good comparison, but what I can say, there's probably a larger than expect number of people that find Vince Staples (post pandemic especially) more enjoyable to listen to
Vince is hilarious😂😂😂
0 minutes 0 views? Shawn fell off
Did he ever react to Vince Dark Times
Why can't we enjoy both? Like come on yall
Vince will never be cringe
So we’re not counting Cole’s mixtapes?
You mfs are WYLIN 😂😂😂😂
Jcole is a better rapper. Technical ability he got it.
@@plasticmartianband I don’t understand anything you’re trying to say, but ok.

@TheRyanfork Yeah, a real music fan here for sure. I didn't realise artists make music for pitchfork and the Grammies. Seen you all in this comment section talking out your ass. This battle apology has really given y'all with the most trash Cole takes the boldness to spread your nonsense everywhere like you're right.
Cole is absolutely the better rapper but that doesn't equate to better albums; clearly Vince has the edge there.
1. No
Vince is not a better rapper than Cole in any technical aspect, including messaging. The 2 things Vince may have over Cole is his ability to craft albums better and being more experimental. But there's no world Vince out raps Cole. This battle apology shit really gave y'all the audacity to be putting out the most trash Cole takes.
@@MaxwellAyo "Vince's albums are better but Cole is a better rapper" I have news for you friend for what that means 😭
Like I get that you have different tastes and that's fine but I'm talking substance.
Also, this isn't his first apology bro he always does that. Dissed Lil Pump then had an Oprah style sit down with him. Got sassy with Noname then got ethered by a 90-second track and apologized! I'm sorry my friend but you are being dishonest and high off the purest copium if you act like none of that matters (and you can't credibly say these about Vince either lol)
There's a weird amount of rap fans that automatically think niche rapper = better rapper. It's very pretentious and, ironically, very shallow. As far as curation goes, Vince has a more illustrious discography. If we're talking rapping ability, it's a different conversation.
2 goats 🤷
Vince is a great artist. But just Cole is just more developed as an artist I think.
To me Cole is an amazing rapper I just don’t think his albums have playback value to me personally for the most part his features are amazing tho but Vince got crazy shit too but I think I relate more to Vince than I do Cole maybe that’s what it is but now I’m thinking about it I don’t think any of J Cole’s Singles are really bangers besides one, damn I really just looked at my Spotify and I really just discovered that J Cole is an amazing rapper with music I don’t like

J Cole does not have the artistic ability to surprise me with his music. I know exactly what i'm going to get before I press play. IMO he was aggressively mid for years until he improved to his current lyrical ability. There have been a couple albums from Vince I didn't like, but he at least takes risks. If they both dropped the same day, I'm going with Vince 1st. easily
Vince Staples absolutely fucking demolishes Cole with minimal effort

Coles not a bad rapper at all, he's just a mid artist. He shines more on features than he ever does on his solo work - and you just named Cole's best verse period (even tho Uncle Als beat is the best part of the song for me).
Even then, I'll throw out Vinces verse on Hive as a good enough verse to compete with Cole here.
