- Use the Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient (R) to measure the relationship between two variables where one or both is not normally distributed. This is a non-parametric ranks based test. Note: There are no ties in the data used in this video. If your data has ties you should consider using a different test (eg Kendall's tau). Made with GoPro.

Thank you very much for sharing. I'm coming from a computer science background and I needed to understand the usage of the formula in real word and this video is what I was looking for. If you are interested in a real-life use case of the formula you may it's usage is NLP when you want to find the correlation between datasets and words.

Price fluctuations don't conform to a normal distribution, as many things. When multiple modes (repetitious data, fractional ranks) occur in significance, this would seem to revert the Spearman back toward the Pearson. The coefficient of 6 in front of sigma almost seems magic for integer ranks.
My college professor decided not to attend class and just gave us a seatwork without explaining so this is REALLY helpful. Thank you 😄
