    That is a nice set up. May want to consider an automatic brake winch sometime in the future - no need to flip lever to let your load down. Just start winding the opposite direction. We use them on our crank up feeders. Extremely safe. Hope you get to use that meat pole soon! 👍

    Good Job Brother I love your Videos but I would’ve used Lock Tight on the outside nut behind the handle or even even tac wielded it so you can use a battery drill with a socket to winch it, my set is similar beside what I mentioned and i use it as my permanent set up to skin everything from deers to hogs

  • @ChasingTailsOutdoors
    @ChasingTailsOutdoors 10 місяців тому

    Good job ! I probably would have mounted the cross members about 12 to 15 ft high, reason being if you kill a big deer or hog, he/she when hanging is not too low to the ground, causing you to still have to bend too much to clean it. Enjoy!

    I see where you was filling that gap in you cut a bunch of two by sixes 10 inches. You could’ve drilled a hole all the way through everyone of them in the middle and took you some half-inch. All threaded and put washes and nuts on it. that’s another way you could’ve did it too.

    Have you ever thought about getting a hog trap? Because if you get a hog trap, you can catch more than one. I hunt hog too in Louisiana. We catch a lot of hogs. I do a lot of trapping myself are used to run dogs. I don’t run dogs anymore. I have a trap. I can catch 40 hogs in one trapand all depends on what size trap you want but I know everybody do things different. I want you all the time any chance I get

    On your lag boats I would’ve went inch and a half it gives you more bite. You don’t have to worry about it pulling out I’m working itself out whatever you screw it in. I see the ones that you got. They are too short really

  • @williamgaines9784
    @williamgaines9784 10 місяців тому

    The only problem with using living trees is they grow at different rates and they will push or twist your beams off. You could have just made an arm off one tree and used the other board for bracing.
    The winches with nylon straps are less likely to tangle, many come with 20ft of strap and a hook for your gambrel. You can use a piece of pipe with a piece of pvc over it for a pulley if you don't have a spare trailer roller laying around.
    My biggest problem with hogs on a standad gambrel is their short legs don't get wide enough to slide on the hooks, I have used wire or rope to tie the one leg off while the other is on the hook. Your narrow one should do well.
