"Long live the king" and "Remember who you are." Mufasa and Scar made those lines sound so ominous that there's no way anyone could ever forget them.
"Long live the king" still sends shivers down my spine. The fear in Mufasa's eyes, the way Scar looks at him, Jeremy Irons' delivery, it all just stays with you the rest of your life.
“whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you stranger”, that line got me chills when I first watched the dark knight.
Scar: "Long live the king"
Mufasa's life: Literally last's only like three more seconds
Not only is this list a good home for this line, but it's definitely one of the darkest lines in movie history
"O Captain, my Captain." That line always gives me goosebumps, and is even more poignant now that Robin Williams has passed away in real life. That movie inspired me to make my life extraordinary, and seize more opportunities.
Haley Joel Osment had a talent that belied his young years. Cinema goers in 1999 had no idea that the famous "I see dead people" scene was actually revealing the entire twist. Everytime you watch it, you become more conscious of the foreshadowing.
One line that chills my bones is, “No. _I_ am your father.” Having mopped the floor with Luke Skywalker on Bespin, that was the last thing he expected Darth Vader to say concerning Luke’s relation to him, yet it makes my arm hairs stand up.
Remember who you are, is the phrase that defined me ever since my childhood. Have a happy monday afternoon, Phoebe, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
I would pick these !!
*"I don't have to win... we both just have to lose."* (Ant-man)
*"Sorry Professor, I must not tell lies."* (Harry Potter)
*"If so powerful you are, why leave ?"* (Star Wars)
*"Oh, I wouldn’t say free. More like...under new management."* (Megamind)
*"Come now. You really think you're the only one who can play this game ?"* (Sherlock Holmes)
*"Remember me, Eddie ?! When I killed your brother, I talked... JUST... LIKE... THIIIIIIIIIS !!"* (Roger Rabbit)
"CARPE DIEM" always gives me chills! ❤
You didn't betray me, you Betrayed yourself.
Optimus Prime.
Honorable mention:
“Where’s your kid now, sheriff?” Toy Story 3
“Long love the king” will always give me chills
Every time I watch The lion king, I get shivers sent down my spine when Long live the king happens
"You should have gone for the head". Basically, any line that comes out of Thanos' mouth will give anyone goosebumps.
Ugh the delivery of always gives me freaking chills every time. That plus the music and right after we see Snape holding Lily’s body gets me choked up every time. So does long live the king. So iconic.
I'd have chosen "What's in the box" over "Envy is my sin" for Se7en. Not because it's become iconic, but because of the sorrowful wail in the delivery. It's as if he'd already begun mourning.
Anytime I get a package I say “what’s in the box “
Happy 30th anniversary to the lion king
And happy 30th anniversary for Independence Day (in 2 years)
Cheers i have lion king mural on my wall in my bedroomm!!!!!
“Stand up, Miss Jean Louise; your father’s passin’!” From To Kill a Mockingbird…It should be #1 on this list!
Remember who you are
Long Live the King
O Captain My Captain
They still give me chills
“You’d best start believing in ghost stories miss Turner, you’re in one!”Captain Barbossa Pirates of the Caribbean curse of the black pearl
Chills
People who think The Lion King is Disney's saddest movie have obviously never seen The Fox and the Hound.
*I see dead people from the sixth sense is iconic.*
Yep, even if you go in already knowing the twist, it's still effective.
Arise, Rodimus Prime from The Transformers The Movie as a dork will always give me chills. Proud 43 year old female Florida dork here.
You just added lines from my two favorite movies. The Deathly Hallows Part 2 & The Lion King.
A.k.a. THE saddest 🥺🥺🥺
Awesome list
#1 for me is “Is your name Marty McFly? I've got something for you. A letter.”
“We’ll always have Paris”
Alkegedly, Ingrid Bergman was not told about the twist in Casablanca (they were still fixing the script), so some of her surprise when Bogart says she's going with Paul Heinreid instead of him might have been real. You see her go off with him and you see her ... shrug a little. Real or not, that's an actress.
Blackhawk Down „No one gets left behind.“
Look at me, I'm the captain now.
Yes
Okay "Carpe Diem" is a good one for Dead Poets Society but I feel like it should have been "O captain my captain" But other than that this is a solid list and I have no arguments otherwise.
"Welcome To My Nightmare" Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie (1995) Uttered by Antagonist Ivan Ooze and later referenced In Super Power Beatdown by Jason David Frank In the Green Ranger Vs Ryu (Street Fighter) episode loved that fight so awesome with the big Budget and everything
Admiral James T. Kirk: Khhhaaaaaaannnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While not chilling to me, personally, what about the different scenes with the Joker in the Dark Knight? There's not just "Why so serious?!", but his final statement after the bank heist, his video recording about people dying, and his final scene hanging from the building, revealing what he did to Harvey Dent.
One of my favorite one word lines, that gives me chills just thinking about it, is from the end of Braveheart...
"FREEDOM!" 😢
You had me at hello.
Yes ❤
No, “I am your Father” Star Wars episode 5? I'm pretty sure it gives you chills the first time you seen it. (Especially if you go by release order.)
To be honest I thought the long live the king would be in the top three or number one
How don’t you put Ezekiel 25:17 from Pulp Fiction?
My Girl when Vada is looking at Thomas J and she ssid “He can’t see without his glasses”. I cry every time
What about Rett to a, finally, repentant Scarlett, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."
"Hello,My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father,
Prepare to Die" from The Princess Bride should definitely have been on this list
9:31 Mustard on the beat yo
HP IS THE TRUEST, but everyone was to blind to see that🥺
AND THE LION KING'S ONE IS THE SADDEST😢
I always quote Mills quoting Hemingway at the end of I’m glad you left that in.
I watched Seven when I was an innocent 17 year old. I walked out of the theatre like 😨
Great list we need a part 2 , i have so many favorites i believe whatever doesn't die simply makes u stranger -The Joker 🃏 , Long live the king, Off with their heads -The queen of hearts, Alice in wonderland-We are all mad here -Cheshire cat
I can feel this body around me dieing
The Last Unicorn
It kicks different, when you will never be "healthy" again
Happy 30th anniversary to The Lion King
The ending line of PSYCHO: "why she wouldn't even hurt a fly ..." On paper it doesn't look chilling, but given the plot, character & circumstances, if ya know, ya know.
I remember I always skipped Mufasa’s death as a kid because it always scared me I just resumed watching when Simba was in the jungle also I’m surprised the classic line no I am your father isn’t on this list
1. The Lion King
2. Casablanca
mufasas death never gets easier to watch
I love the gladiator intro at wrestlemania 21 I mean I never seen the movie but my childhood hero is stone cold Steve Austin.
"I am your father." -Darth Vader
“I could have killed 'em all, I could kill you. In town you're the law, out here it's me. Don't push it. Don't push it or I'll give you a war you won't believe. Let it go. Let it go” Rambo: First Blood (1982)
“I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubble gum.” “They Live.” (1988)
😡 WHY THE HELL DID YOU NOT PUT THAT LINE AT 11:40 ON THE LIST!? What a missed opportunity to talk about "Yo, Adrian. I DID IT!" 😡
A line that gives me chills every time watch this certain film is "You Bow to No One" from The Lord of the Rings The Return of the King.
When Henry Gondorff said "Four jacks" in The Sting.
I honestly thought the line let’s put a smile on that face from the dark Knight would be on this list
Awesome .
What about this line, also from gladiator?
"Are you not entertained?"
AVENGERS!........ Assemble.
You remember CASABLANCA, but don't consider nearly enough other old movies, as usual
“On your left” or “Avengers Assemble”
Can you a Top 10 Doofenshmirtz backstories or The Top 10 Kite Man & Golden Glider Romantic Moments
Love you 3000 by iron man is missing here!
“Say hello to my little friend” (big gun) Tony Montana in Scarface
I thought # 1 was “what’s in the box “ 🤷🏾♀️
That lion king always freaks me out
I'm sorry "Always" will forever belong to Peeta and Katniss.
Not including the last line in the Breakfast Club.
Why I must ask
Why only movies from the 90;s
I thought Brad Pitt's "What's in the box?!?" line would represent Se7en.
The old school 'teachers' in Dead Poets Society are so stiff and behind the times, odds are they'd scream bloody murder if they hear a Beatles song. Never liked ANY of them in the film.
5 Words: "You bow to no one"
,,Piertotum locomotor!'' -Minerva McGonagall from Harry Potter-Deathly Hallows pt.2.
"I've always wanted to use that spell."
Lion King uncomfortable with my stomach
"Agaenst"? Fck, is this a Canadian site? Blech.
that's not how we spell 'against' in Canada
