Woow, even though I'm 2 years late, I have to THANK YOU for this video.. Bro I was getting so annoyed at the phone not responding to my fingerprints immediately, thankfully I found this on UA-cam.. Legit this was a BIG help. Thanks a lot man👍👍
Wtf, I already set my phone to unlock immediately when i power off the screen, but it somehow changed to 5 seconds...I was so frustrated when the fingerprint wasn't working, but this video helped a lot thanks bud!
Thank u so much my s9+ is unlocked before using this fix my fingerprint will only work when i unlock the screen once then it wil keep working if i lock it again but and then leave the phone for some time and then try again then it will not work but it was working fine when i was trying to add a new fingerprint you just saved me 100$ as my phone was out of warranty thank u so much
Yes, I set it to 10 Minutes and the phone responds either by Fingerprints or pushing the Side Button... Because it is unlocked... So, really this is not a Fix, as your phone is Unlocked. You can start it up after pushing the side button once and it will not ask you for a password. After 10 minutes however, the fingerprints will not unlock the phone most of the time. My problem is that the Fingerprint sensor does not unlock the phone after sitting there for a couple hours... There seems to be something else going on.... This happened all of a sudden to me... It was working fine for Fingerprints for a truly locked phone to just very intermittent. ************************ Update: -- After trying ALL of the fixes on the Internet....... I finally did a Factory Reset and that COMPLETELY Fixed my Problem..... --- It is a software problem for sure and yes a Factory reset will have you getting your phone back to normal for hours!
On my s9 it tells me to add my fingerprint by swiping, but after one swipe, it says the fingerprint is 100% registered, Is this normal? Also going to point out that my s9 had some point chipping on the fingerprint scanner.
@@lefthanded5473 Ah! I see your point. I haven't used the S8 S9 fps since oneui came out. And since the S10 has the display fps, it's a different animal.
@@jcx2bby Yeah, I use intelligent scan most of the time anyways and ik the fingerprint registration system is different with the newer model Samsung's. Good to know my s9 isn't broken or fake though lol.
BEFORE you take your phone to the repairshop go to the drugstore and buy 70% alcohol and some cotton tips. Carefully clean the sensor with a cotton tip soaked into the alcohol. Worked fine with my lg g7. My sensor dit not respond to fingerprints at all. After cleaning with alcohol it worked again like new!
Is the issue I am having with my note9? I guess another reason that it doesn't lock is due to smart lock feature. I will have to hold off requesting a replacement thank you for sharing
I was having issue with my Note 9. Nothing worked then I turned off always on display and it started working. Check your sensor status as well on. Go to keypad and type "*#0*#" and confirm your the sensor is recognized by the phone. Hope this helps
You're most welcome! Thank you for the video. I totally agree with you. I tried several different ways to fix it, but the only thing that worked was something you mentioned in the video - to tap instead of swipe when adding your fingerprints.
jcx2bby yes !! It was working untill about 5h today . I put it down and i go to eat when i pick it up . The fingerprint wouldn't work .. it wasn't chargeing or any thing
Hopefully it isn't a hardware issue. You've probably done this already, but make sure to restart it a couple of times, see if that helps. Check your security settings and make sure fingerprint is still enabled and that your fingerprints weren't deleted. If all else fails, do a factory reset and see if it works. If it doesn't, you may have to get it repaired. Good luck.

@@jcx2bby to give some feedback, the video misleads people into thinking you're making a tutorial to replace the fingerprint scanner, given the name of the video. Edit: for some context, physical fingerprint scanner damage after some extensive use is not too rare for this phone from what I've seen from others online as well.
@@WheatleyOS well, I see what you're saying but here's a couple of points for context. First, when I made this video it was three almost four years ago, right after this phone came out. At that time there was a lot of these phones that were having this particular, specific, issue with the fingerprint sensor, which is why I made this video. Did I make it too long and wordy? Yes, because originally it was part of a longer video and I just cut this part out of it. It is what it is now. Second, I never said this was a video on how to replace the fingerprint sensor, just merely fix it when it stops working. There was no intent at misdirection here on my part by saying this is how you can replace the sensor. If you have the opportunity to watch any of my other videos, especially the ones where I do lawn mower carburetor repair, you'll see that I do talk a lot. I try my best to help walk the unfamiliar through what can be complicated territory if they've never done certain procedures before. It is just become my style over the years.
