Another song masterpiece by P.V. who truly does “know the sound of a song when a song hits you right!” It’s obvious that God gifted Phil with this special talent to compile musical note with poetic words. Oh and man, can he work the keys! Thank you P.V.
SO true, I was just about to post something similar. We have one of his CD's & it's always been one of our favorites, we are going to see him this coming weekend and are SO thrilled!
We saw Vassar at Infinity up in Litchfield County, Ct back in December 2019 and it was one of our favorite performances ever. I had wanted to se him since hearing a few of his hits over the years. I think he is a one of the best singer/songwriters out there. He plays a piano wonderfully and i said to wife "does this guy know his business and is he a relaxed intense performer. We will certainly go to see him once this C-19 stuff is under some kind of control. What a marvelous performer. He works hard and he is gifted. He has so many great songs (that i love to sing). I don't want to speak ill of any performer, but Vassar does really blow a number of current stars of " country" away. I guess he doesn't attract much attention from country radio anymore, but country music with a hip hop beat? I hear it and i say "that ain't country, for cryin' out loud." Hey, Vince Gill and Phil Vassar are not heard on the radio! Two of the greatest. There must be a reason, but no insider am i. Anyway, we'll see Vassar soon. Peace and love is the answer.
Phil is a great songwriter. Love his Joe Cocker style vocals, too. He is terrific. Can you hear the Jim Steinman influence in this song? I do. And some Marc Cohn influence too.
Well damn. Had no idea Phil wrote this song til now. Kind of pissed at myself. Anyway, great tune. Nail did a good cut but Vasser's original smashed it.

Can you imagine being in his family and this is just something amazing that happens at thanksgiving and Christmas?
He is so under appreciated

I love this song Phil...
my new favourite song. Heard it on David Nail's record and had to find out the writer. Of course it's the incredible Phil Vassar!
