yes there are a lot of small reddies around this year making it harder to catch the bigger ones, especially if using bait as before you know it they have stripped the hook
Not straight under the boat but near the boat so you know there is fish nearby. The fish finder beam is a circular cone with the point nearest the transducer and gets wider the deeper the beam has to travel to the bottom

Mainly fish with both worms and yabbies they seem to be the best
