I interpreted this song to be about insecurity and self loathing, how it stopped the protagonist experiencing the possibility of reciprocated love, and in the process doomed the girl he loved from afar. Whilst he was busy trying to grow a perfect flower to express his love only to find shes died and now he lives with regret.
