If you look at the cabinets behind him… without grain match, all the cabinets would have different texture and not flow as one. The top plywood would have to be sequential. It would be like doing wallpaper and not having the lines match up. Still the same wallpaper, right?
@@jasony9950 exactly and it doesn’t cost anymore to have it be “grain matched and there’s different types of grain matching. this is the type that doesn’t cost anymore doesn’t require special ordering it’s not booked matched which does cost more so it’s no big deal. it would actually be harder in most cases to not have it grain matched and or waste material
It just means you have to use a smaller custom factory or local custom cabinet shop instead of a factory that mass produces cabinets. If they mass produce cabinets, they manufacture them individually on an assembly line and they can't guarantee a grain match--but the cost is less.
Every kitchen is different, and there are always other factors that influence cost. It's also good to know that prices and costs change as the years go by. We've found this to be a good ballpark concerning kitchen cabinets just from analyzing the work we've done. What is a box. Is it standard size two door cupboard?
It's one single cabinet with sides, one or two doors, top and bottom.
Tell your video editor that people don’t want to watch the talking head for five minutes and then get a two second view of the kitchen your budgeting

Why is grain matched a big deal? Aren’t you just cutting up a veneered plywood to do it?
