Hello Woody, I shall be taking delivery of o PSR SXJ900 today. This is the first time I have purchased a keyboard instrumen since I owned an antique upright piano 30 years ago. Apart from a when I bought and lived in a deconsecrated church, which came replete with an 1880 London made three panel pipe organ with 21 stops & floor pedals. The air came from a huge old electric air pump in the crypt (which also served as a bathroom and a self contained flat had a separate street entrance (very sloping block of land), I used to play a lot of somewhat eclectic music on a fLes Paul electric, or a 12 string Horner acoustic guitar with electronic pickup & equaliser built in in. I am hoping that this PSR SX900 will allow me to continue to enjoy playing and creating music, given that being a septuagenarian, My are suffering from the effects of arthritis & I can no longer shape chords properly, let alone make snappy changes, let alone play finger style guitar.. My hands are still good enough for playing blues harp or keyboards, so I hope I have done the right thing.
Hello thanks for a great channel and videos ... quick question please. Is it possible to record arpeggio effects while playing and recording multitrack on PSR SX700/900. Many Thanks
This all looks very familiar and similar to my Tyros 4. Only the chord looper is new - looking forward to your demo of that, it looks to be very useful.
Another great video! Woody just want to say although im new to your channel i have shared them all over and I know how much work goes into this as i teach engineering and keyboard programming now while im not recording in my studio or teaching guitar, bass, drums, piano, engineering, yes music is my life and i appreciate your work and your attitude and demeanor is refreshing. Best wishes, Michael
HI can you tell me if you can split this into 4 parts with different voices 1 left 3 right and also switch the sustain off on the voices within the splits nobody seems to have covered this on any video, thanks Chris.
Hi, when I select a style, the psr x900 selects 4 voices to use with otr. Sometimes I don’t like these voices. How can I change them and edit in my own voices sounds? Or is it not possible?
Hey, i didnt really understand. Would Someone Tell Me.... If I Plugged A Sustain Pedal, Where Do I Activate it? ------------------- other question: Does settings save even after powering off the piano and back on?
Oh my gosh I soooo want to get this Keyboard, I'm broke and wish to get it :(. I have 1 Old PRS 280 ready to upgrade for a SX900. That SX900 is amazing!
Im on the same position right now. But im going for the sx 700 because i dont have that much money and the extra features that the sx 900 offer is for live performance which I don’t think im going to use. I recommend you do the same, you will get all the amazing features and great quality sounds except for 10 features that are exclusive for the sx 900. Same keyboard and you will save about 800 dollars with the taxes.
Thanks a lot for your hard work it's really awesome videos God bless... In your future videos I would love to see how does the Bluetooth function work and what things you can assign the buttons underneath the screen as well as as for what voices you can assign the button which is located above the joystick.. thank you
Thank you Woody for the informative tutorial. Is there a shortcut to disabling the piano touch setting because maneuvering via menu 2 and keyboard/joystick is rather time consuming especially when one has to switch between Registration memories. The older models I am acquainted with had a touch response button (on/off) just above the extreme right piano keys.
Good morning Woody , Excellent demo of the new PSR SX900 looks super cool , lots of new features on this new model , nicely explained by you , you're gonna have a lot fun exploring what it can really do , me thinks you will have to load in some of "Styles 2PSR " styles and voices into it and show the real power of the PSR keyboards and you would be the first on UA-cam to do it , me thinks You will be blown away by the sound that can be made on any "S" PSR model keyboard using Jan's styles and voices ! , I'm looking forward to your next video with this new SX900 and hopefully you will have learned some more of its functions and play a few different styles and not any of that Jazz crap , lol , have fun over there Woody , big thumbs are always up for you !!! 😎AK☘ 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘

would like to receive some very important advice from you. I have a Yamana psr S970. Here is already 3 years and a new SX 900 has been released, I would very much like to buy it. A big difference between the two synthesizers and is it worth it. Maybe a new one will be released soon and it's worth the wait? you know a lot about synthesizers, I would like some advise. PLS
i don't have any inside info about new models, but s970 still fabulous, I'm not sure if I would upgrade if I already had one, plenty of mileage left in it!
@@WoodyPianoShack Thank you so much for your answer. Excuse me for my English. this is not my native language. I probably asked the question incorrectly. Now they offer very good conditions to buy a new synthesizer $ 46 per month for 4 years and without interest. How would you rate these two synthesizers. Have you played both and is there any point in buying a new one? How much better is the newYamaha psr SX 900 synthesizer than the old psr S970, and most importantly in what? Sounds better or easier to use? Excuse me for my insolence, but this is very important to me. I am already 60 years old and probably this will be my last purchase and I would like not to be mistaken. I love your videos, thank you for your work ...
Thank you for all the great demos and tutorials. Here's an idea... How to add and set up a midi second keyboard, for example to have it work like a dual keyboard organ.
yeah, interesting idea indeed. very much doubt possible to setup a decent dual manual organ rig, but should be possible to play other sounds on the external keyboard! klike connecting a weighted action for playing piano
Sir please give us some tips on mixer , eq and compressor settings for live performance and how can we use and balance old styles and sound banks made on older models of psr keyboards like 910-950-970 on sx 700-900????
13:30 I always complained about the PSR series (which I played at Church) for that. At least in this SX series, they sync up when a style is playing in the background. The 950 didn't even do that. You have to be spot on to start the pads on the beat. Korg has always done that better, but Yamaha has better sequence pads.
PSR Multipad are syncing up with style since forever, it's not something new in SX. You need to check the your S950 pad settings and see if someone turned off the sync.
@@msaffar86 I doubt anyone else was savvy enough to change those settings. I even did a factory reset on the keyboard previously for another reason. So no one could have changed those settings. Also, you saw in this video at 13:22 that when the pad was playing, if you turn on another pad, it doesn't automatically sync them up even in the SX series. In Korg, all the subsequent pads and the style follow one single clock started by the first pad or style.
@@Jeremy.p The main internal clock source in PSR is either Song or Style, not multipads. You can use that play/stop button as clock to sync and control external midi devices too. So you need either a song or style running in order for multipad to sync, as multipad is just for adding flavor to whatever you playing. You can run & mute the style part for example, then Multipads will sync and play without any style tracks running. Back to the main point, S950 and all other PSRs are syncing with style no matter what, all factory multipads are using style "bar start" as start point for sync, unless you are using custom multipads with "repeat off".
@@msaffar86 I see how you've modified your work flow around this limitation. But having a pad as the clock source opens up many more opportunities while programming a song. For example, I would start the song with a pad (just the tambourine or guitar sequence that I created for a particular song) and then add the style later. Even in the style, I would mute all the guitars and only have my custom guitar pads playing. This gives you more customization options and not sound like every other song using the same style. To me, pads don't add flavor to the style. They lead the actual song.
Hi Woody, As a player with no sight, how much can be done without using the touch screen. As we previously discussed, this keyboard has sopeech. Any chance you could demo that. No-one else has on youtube. Thanks.
hi David, too late sadly, the keyboard has gone back. It had a speech function that would call out what physical button you pressed, then press it again to perform the action (not for the real-time control performance buttons obviously). If I recall the virtual on screen controls worked in the same way, you'd get a call out. I did consider making a video about the feature as I'd never seen it before on a keyboard but didn't get around to it. Maybe consider also the lower end models without the touch screen (SX600) since I would think that physical buttons would be easier to manage. It's a shame that these instruments are so reliant on their screens these days, but kudos to Yamaha for the speech function.
@@WoodyPianoShack Hi Woody, doesn't look like speech is available on the 600. Decided to plump for 700, and will send you a demo of the speech function. Won't be a video for obvious reasons, but a quality audio just in case anyone else asks you about it. Cheeers.
I have a recording studio with Cubase Pro 10 and Ableton live suite, Omnisphere etc. I like the keyboard but I am not sure if I really need it. Thank you for your video is very well explained.
Being a senior, I'm more partial to traditional styles and voices and in particular smooth and sweet harmonies or even folk and country style. It would seem that the latest PSR has catered more to those who identify with the contemporary scene. I enjoy Southern Gospel music and I noticed where there was a "southern gospel" style on the sx900. However, it turned out to be more tuned to Black Gospel. The Gaithers are much more representative of true southern gospel music. Much of my public performance is associated with Nursing Homes and Special Care facilities. You know the kind of music they prefer. (Me too! A wide cross section but not contemporary!)
Great vid as usual. I struggle a little to see the general use for this. If you have a daw and some synths, controllers and VSTs would you need something like this? It seems like if you *only* have the 900 then it's probably a great item but that reminds me of those sad solo 'pianomen' in the clubs lounge / bar doing the thing while almost no one listens. It would certainly make solo gigging easier and I suppose if the gig pays OK then who cares.
Hi Pete, sure there might be a need for it, the only software that does something similiar is BIAB, which sounds epic, but needs to be programmed in advance, not a realtime arranger. yes, this is the weapon of choice for solo entertainers, duos etc... :) hey, pays the bills!
Hello Peter , There are lots of things the PSR keyboards can do as good as DAW 's , a little bit of tweeking the voices and styles can make the PSR sound incredibly good , I have 3 PSR keyboards and have new voices and styles for them , together they do sound amazing without using any DAW's or computer effects , you can see and hear what I mean on my channel !
@@TranceJedi I'm sure you prove your craft and how good you are. I couldn't believe that guys Comment about struggling to see need for psrsx900. Great Comment. Would love to see your channel.
Not a very good and deep touchscreen in my option. Otherwise a very nice keyboard. Have fine and cosy holidays Woody . Thanks for your always lively and interesting video’s !
About the problem with the touchscreen: Is there an option to calibrate the touchscreen? I own a MODX and it has a calibration function deeply buried in the utility menu. Have you calibrated yours?
Woody, thanks for delving into this in depth! As a beginner keyboard player, there are a lot of features that I need explained, and you do a great job. So, a very general question regarding playing technique, or strategy when playing an Arranger vs a Piano --- (I inherited a very old Roland E-20 LOL) I have a "Memory" key, which enables holding the last chord played, until you play the next one. That seems like it might be useful, if you need to hit the buttons above to change variation, etc. and not stop the chord from playing. Or, would you think it's better to just leave that feature off, and try to get faster at hitting those other buttons? I've noticed on a lot of UA-cam videos, it looks like a lot of players do use that feature, but what would be your suggestion? Can you demo some tips and tricks that show how to play the Arranger's keyboard and buttons fluently? Thanks!
That’s a great machine . Yamaha standard quality is always amazing. Could you do it a video playing big hits on it ? I think there’s a style section from the 80s that is perfect. Congratulations on the video man. Hello from Brazil 🇧🇷
@@WoodyPianoShack great man. I will love to hear the wonderful hits from this time in this incredible arranger. Hello from brazil again. Your videos are amazing 👍
Thanks for the video. I'm most interested in the chord looper and the multipads. I have the PSR-S970. Yamaha made some good new features into the SX. But most of them should have been there for years. Yamaha is very lame in this respect.
Hmm, is this a feature you need to enable, only I didn't hear the buttons speaking when you pressed them during the demo. This is looking rather interesting...
disabled for the demo, it's a free download that you install, there is a separate manual, it's called voice guide. stagestub:9090/smisker/cp-stub/log/getsmdr.do?id=1-4422545406
Good Job, Woody! Can you say something more about the much-praised “FSB“-Key-bed? As the PSR-S keys had always been a “friend or foe” question, I´m very interested in your opinion, if and what has been changed…
not a huge difference whilst playing compared to my previous, but it is somewhat quieter and with a bit more resistance so definitely there's been a change, but similar overall I would say. I'm finding it a bit tricky to adapt to the light keys, lots of wrong notes, you need to be super accurate.
Thx! I value your opinion. By the way, I use the MODX8 as lower and the PSR-S (and upcoming the PSR-SX) as upper keyboard and find it funny to see, that you have the same "Touch-Screen-Hit-Troubles" as me. Yamaha did a (really) great job with their touch-screens, but you have to hit the desired space very exactly. So the "more" on hardware-buttons on the PSR-SX (related to Genos) are very welcome feature...
I saw your first video first, but as I can see you have become much "softer" than the last time you reviewed the psr-s970. You didn't mention the feeling of the new improved keybed at all, or what you didn't like. Is there any noticeable difference with this keybed? Does it feels like you hit your fingers on wood as the s970, when you bottom down the keys? How about the buttons, are they plastic or rubber ones? Do they feel better? How about the overal build quality, is it better than s970?
i think i've found and developed my presentation style since those very early days of my channel. it's not appropriate to talk about what you dislike immediately after the unboxing, you at least need to play and use for a few hours. i do have opinions about it and will share in an upcoming first impressions review. keyboard feels good, although very light, easy to play bum notes unless you are very precise (i'm often not) :) rubber buttons feel just like before, build quality same.
I bought a PSR-S900 in 2008. The purchase for me was significant as I bought it outright having just paid off a four figure debt. Best thing I ever bought. I notice that you posted a video on the PSR-S975. I dislike intensely the rubber buttons used on the panel stretching the entire length of the keyboard. Are the buttons for ACCMPT, SYNC START, FILL IN and ENDING on the new PSR-SX 900 Keyboard rubber, or are they plastic? Is the middle piece surrounding the display also plastic, or is it aluminium? Thank you for another great video 👍
all the buttons have a rubber feel, you saw i was a bit taken aback on the unboxing video, since you expect some kind of click or tactile response. but in practise, they seem to be fine, no issues for me with the feel of the performance buttons.
@@WoodyPianoShack Ah, sorry for being obscure! You'll see what I was referring to if you google "I crave star damage"... Nathan Pyle's Strange Planet comic is all the rage these days.
Very informative, especially to me who is out of date with modern keyboards. My only suggestion would be to demonstrate the buttons much earlier in the video, as there seemed to be a lot of talking before we actually heard any sounds.
PS I hadn't seen the unboxing video, so had no idea what it sounded like. I've just watched that one now, I must have missed the announcement on Facebook, which is my main way of knowing you have a new video.
Hi Woody, you want something different? I'd like to see multiple external midi units chained up with this. Say a drum machine, bass synth and something else... external synths playing the accompaniment parts (or the accompaniment playing the external synths, I know it has assignable midi). That, I would like to see... Wow me.
@@WoodyPianoShack I don't actually think it would be too hard. I like using multiple synths with my setup, but the problem is I like to have a sequence and then play along and able to transpose at the same time, funnily enough this is exactly what an arranger does (I've never owned an arranger, I may soon though). It's quite difficult trying to transpose some synths on the fly, and if you've got multiple, all at once is a challenge, this is where the arranger would do well. All you have to do is assign the midi channels of the external synths to the corresponding output of the arranger. This would allow more instant hands on control of sounds without being stuck with presets on the arranger, and trying to modify them.
Be great if they would make the damn things available again worldwide. SX700 and SX900 it’s been about a year of non production and manufacturing them.
Not being able to see, I'm a bit of a button and knob man myself, but it looks like even with the touch screen, I may be able to use this. Whoops! just realized what I'd wiritten. Hands got ahead of brain there...
this has a unique feature, well I've never seen it before, a voice guide that speaks to you when you press any button, controller, or items on the screen. So perhaps a good option!
90s DANCE sounds, euro, and a tiny bit of trap, ........ everyone does the jazzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, pop and chachacharrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, shuffle sole stuff, moden it up a bit it is almost 2020 not the1970/80s other than that you are the main man, just love your freestyle stuff (im 67 years old and moved on) my pic is when i was a younger 65 year old.
The SX 900 voices are not much better than my 20 year old PSR 8000. The piano, sax, etc etc haven't changed for years in the PSR range. I suppose its to make their top Workstations sound good enough to demand huge retail prices.
I wish arrangers had more synth pop Italia disco synthwave styles they lean way to much on eastern music I have Roland EA7 korg pa 900 korg pa 1000 and yamaha psrs775 they all have a crap load of styles that you doint need.
You know, Woody, I almost hate to say this, but I had ALL of this back in 2006 when I bought my Korg PA800, which I still have today. The PA-1000 is less expensive than the SX900, has better sounds and a better product all around. I like Yamaha, I used to sell them for years, but even the Genos is way overpriced and the Korg PA4X V3.0 is a less expensive, all around better keyboard. Yamaha is bloated and 'sot in their ways.'
i've never tried the korg myself, but not been overly impressed by the style demos i've seen on YT, i know they have their fans though, so hoping to check one out some day. the overpriced argument, I can somewhat agree with, for the arranger keyboard category in general even.
Yamaha make very high quality sampling of voices and offer a user friendly programming and controls in their keyboards. Yamaha in the music industry is like Microsoft in the technology industry. This makes Yamaha expensive because they know very well that they are the leaders in the market right now. Roland, Korg, Kurzweil? Not a single good arranger produced by those vendors for years except the Pa4x. I agree that Genos is very expensive but for a live performance is a kick in the butt in front of the audience. I have Genos and two girls from the audience who were pretty familiar with Tyros5 were amazed by the voices of Genos but they criticized its build and I couldn't agree more. PA1000 sounds like a toy compared to even psr s975. SX900 is really the next level for all PSR owners.
lest agree to disagree, yamaha sounds better for me and has the better styles,,but its all opinions, and opinions are NOT facts. so lets all stick to the stuff we like ourselves and stop bashing the other, pls?
Get a Tripod. Like your videos, but "I don't know what this group of buttons here does ..." does not belong in a "Tour of the Front Panel" video, IMHO.
Not impressed with this weak sounding, one dimensional unit, Very disappointed. Got it yesterday. It's going back tomorrow. If you are composing orchestral music, it's totally inadequate. This unit is for players at home or gigs. No ability to delay second instrument coming in like strings and bring it in under the piano. Strings are thin and weak. Useless manual and ref manual. No MIDI instructions worth anything. No onboard converter. My Yamaha MX61 sounds better and more accurate on every instrument. No reflection on your video. Just talking from a composing standpoint. Don't buy it if you demand power, dynamics and punch. It's only good for jazz and rock and a bit of funk. Weak basses
thanks for sharing, yeah, this board not primarily intended for serious orchestral scoring for example, for that most guys using plugins. kronos or similar.
this is def the wrong instrument for that, i really really wonder how its possible you diddnt know that before getting it. composing orchestral is nowadays much better done on computers with the fab virtual orchestras.
I have had this keyboard and you pay for it very expensive, but when you want to sell it, you lose a lot of money, like all yamaha keyboards, I have seen it very badly, because in the midi track arrangement function, you cannot save the changes, it is impossible, you waste time leaving a track to your liking, you follow the steps to save that says factory and when you get to the site to do your show, surprise, the midi is the same or as bad as at the beginning, bad but bad this keyboard !!! I bought the Kog PA 4X amazing keyboard
@@WoodyPianoShack well, in the end I made you cso and bought a sx 900, the spectacular sounds, and good handling, just one question, what can I do to remove the noise from the keys, the only thing I've seen that I don't like it, it seems that they were loose and the plastic noise is tremendous, is there a trick or method to repair? Thank you
Try change registration voices ( 3 parts on) and ( DSP effects on) quicky in full keyboard mode. Just for fun... and please make a full video of your experience doing that

Good morning Woody , Excellent demo of the new PSR SX900 looks super cool , lots of new features on this new model , nicely explained by you , you're gonna have a lot fun exploring what it can really do , me thinks you will have to load in some of "Styles 2PSR " styles and voices into it and show the real power of the PSR keyboards and you would be the first on UA-cam to do it , me thinks You will be blown away by the sound that can be made on any "S" PSR model keyboard using Jan's styles and voices ! , I'm looking forward to your next video with this new SX900 and hopefully you will have learned some more of its functions and play a few different styles and not any of that Jazz crap , lol , have fun over there Woody , big thumbs are always up for you !!!

would like to receive some very important advice from you.
Does this keyboard or the SX700 have after touch keys? If not, how would I get around this? Thanks.
no, only the genos does, you could maybe use an expression pedal if important to you?
Great video. Can i connect an external screen/monitor to my 900?
yeah, i think that has vga output, right?
@@WoodyPianoShack No, thats the type with pins with a blue casing on lead (old style computer monitors)
Jeremiah Pakki just start the song style with all parts muted. Then play pads and add the style parts.
I don't sell it in Japan, so I would like to buy it by reimporting.
Thanks for the great review.
Hi Woody,
As a player with no sight, how much can be done without using the touch screen.
Cheeers.
@@myfunnyval1 yeah, i say you should stick with an all buttons one board.
what about sound design capabilities? can I create psytrance on it?
Show me how to change instruments in style ?!
I love the sound of these Yamaha Keyboards i just wish they used a little more on build quality like Korg.

Can explain about vocal function from sx900
I have a recording studio with Cubase Pro 10 and Ableton live suite, Omnisphere etc. I like the keyboard but I am not sure if I really need it. Thank you for your video is very well explained.
Hi Roger, I have NI Komplete MK2 with Komplete Ultimate collection I just need a keyboard for perform vocal and me.
Which one is superior Yamaha PSR sx900 or korg pa 1000 ? Thank you.
(Me too! A wide cross section but not contemporary!)
there are soo many addons packs /styles that you could use. and they are free.
Thank you so much
Great job
Let me know which one is best keyboard Yamaha sx 900 or korg pa 1000 ? Thank you .
there is no best, both are very good, best is relative. listen to them and choose what you like best.
Very nice..I feel, now, registering a bank is complicated ...It was easier early..
I will be glad if you could explain..
is it possible to add portamento/legato to all voices?
Make a video on MIC (full settings) and MIC RECORDING on psr sx900! Thank you! Great video
@Peter :D l was thinking the same thing.
"sad solo 'pianomen' in the clubs lounge / bar doing the thing while almost no one listens." LMAO
Go in the bar or lounge and set up your GarageBand and see how many listen.
@@TranceJedi I'm sure you prove your craft and how good you are. I couldn't believe that guys Comment about struggling to see need for psrsx900. Great Comment. Would love to see your channel.
I am having a hard time transferring my midifiles to the PSR-SX700. Can you demonstrate that?
Not a very good and deep touchscreen in my option. Otherwise a very nice keyboard. Have fine and cosy holidays Woody . Thanks for your always lively and interesting video’s !
Please try making your own multipad and see if you can quantize them. As this wasnt possible on the psr s series
that's an advanced topic to explore, but I can keep it in mind
Can you plug a guitar in at some point and show us how this interacts with the system?
sure, good call!
How compared with 473
Much much much more capable than E473. Ready for gigging and professional musicians
@@89__tirtharajpati69 thankyou do much. Now the choice psr 900 or ck 61 or 88. As both run on battery and can buy battery bank last 5 hours. Cheers.
Hello,
is there no "Initial Touch" button anymore?
About the problem with the touchscreen: Is there an option to calibrate the touchscreen? I own a MODX and it has a calibration function deeply buried in the utility menu. Have you calibrated yours?
yes, you can calibrate the corners, but i think the issue for me was that the touch zones were a bit too small.
Woody, thanks for delving into this in depth! As a beginner keyboard player, there are a lot of features that I need explained, and you do a great job.
So, a very general question regarding playing technique, or strategy when playing an Arranger vs a Piano --- (I inherited a very old Roland E-20 LOL)
I have a "Memory" key, which enables holding the last chord played, until you play the next one. Thanks!
that's exactly the topic of tomorrow's video! stay tuned, and thanks for the comment.
That’s a great machine . Yamaha standard quality is always amazing. Could you do it a video playing big hits on it ? I think there’s a style section from the 80s that is perfect. Congratulations on the video man. Hello from Brazil 🇧🇷
sure, will check out the 80s section for you!
@@WoodyPianoShack great man. I will love to hear the wonderful hits from this time in this incredible arranger. Hello from brazil again. Your videos are amazing 👍
Where is the switch for the on/off pc mode?
Thank you!
The User Interface has a nice, clear and well organized layout. But that touchscreen seems a bit laggy. Looks like one of those resistive screens.
yes dyko, i think you can call it that, needs a firm press to register, not quite like a smartphone or similar.
Thanks for the video. I'm most interested in the chord looper and the multipads.
I have the PSR-S970. Yamaha made some good new features into the SX. But most of them should have been there for years. Yamaha is very lame in this respect.
Please I’m in need of psr sx900
Please do for sx 700
Can I use an 88 key controller with this Yamaha?
if it has round 5-pin midi outputs, yes.
Anyone have EDM yamaha psr sx900 style please share in for with us thank you
Hmm, is this a feature you need to enable, only I didn't hear the buttons speaking when you pressed them during the demo. This is looking rather interesting...
disabled for the demo, it's a free download that you install, there is a separate manual, it's called voice guide.

Nice

What is increment and decrement means?
it means to step up, and step down, go up, go down.
Can’t relate to the arranger keyboard fetish, but nice to see you chuffed over some new gear☺️
Impressive bit of star damage there, Woody!
star damage? you lost me there.... :o
@@WoodyPianoShack Ah, sorry for being obscure! You'll see what I was referring to if you google "I crave star damage"... Nathan Pyle's Strange Planet comic is all the rage these days.
Thanks for the details, it gives a better idea of how the unit works. Of course, not a keyboard for everyone, but a nice one in the arranger world
Very informative, especially to me who is out of date with modern keyboards.
In your next video show piano sound guitars and string do a performed !
Hi Woody, you want something different? I'd like to see multiple external midi units chained up with this. Say a drum machine, bass synth and something else... external synths playing the accompaniment parts (or the accompaniment playing the external synths, I know it has assignable midi). That, I would like to see... Wow me.
interesting... :) this would be kinda complicated`and time consuming to setup and configure all the sounds, why would you want to do this?
Why no ‘Ballad’ button in the styles section?
10 buttons only, I guess they included the ballads in the other sections.
As a singer as well, can I plug in a mic to this keyboard?
cool! you can indeed, and add effects and harmonies to your voice, one of the killer features i believe!
@@WoodyPianoShack is anyone selling used sx900 or 700.?
I think you should sell this along with a few others while it still has value and try and get a Genos2…. Or something totally different ? But what?
stylophone?
How compared to vintage psr 3000 that cost me $2000 in year 2000.

Be great if they would make the damn things available again worldwide. SX700 and SX900 it’s been about a year of non production and manufacturing them.
interesting, was not aware of that, i did hear availability of new sx600 is limited
thats not their fault..i am getting mine in a few days !!
I bought this model recently. Sounds great for the most part, but a lot of presets sound corny.
yeah, you have to work with it a bit to get "your" sound.
Oh and please show the music rest and install it.
90s DANCE sounds, euro, and a tiny bit of trap, ........ everyone does the jazzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, pop and chachacharrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, shuffle sole stuff, moden it up a bit it is almost 2020 not the1970/80s other than that you are the main man, just love your freestyle stuff (im 67 years old and moved on) my pic is when i was a younger 65 year old.
thats because modern music lacks severely in creativity, the older stuff is way way better in originality.
The SX 900 voices are not much better than my 20 year old PSR 8000. The piano, sax, etc etc haven't changed for years in the PSR range. I suppose its to make their top Workstations sound good enough to demand huge retail prices.
maybe your ears detoriated? i say the sounds are way better than 20 years ago. again its all relative opinions.
Plethora of buttons seems hard to get around...
i'd rather have too many buttons than too few...
This Glenn Miller piece nearly convinced me to get one ...

Ich habe das Yamaha SX 700
Why don't you try getting your camera set up on a tripod and then that will free up both hands.
Where is the camera boy? 🤔😁
he's at school, i did consider writing him a sick note... :D
SX900 is really the next level for all PSR owners.
lest agree to disagree, yamaha sounds better for me and has the better styles,,but its all opinions, and opinions are NOT
facts. so lets all stick to the stuff we like ourselves and stop bashing the other, pls?
Get a Tripod.
Like your videos, but "I don't know what this group of buttons here does ..." does not belong in a "Tour of the Front Panel" video, IMHO.

Hello woody so blessed can you help me to buy this keyboard i don't have that much money 😢 my little goal is to buy a good keyboard help me woody
my advice would be to buy a cheaper model and work on your skills, a good musician on cheap instrument will always sound better...
I bought the Kog PA 4X amazing keyboard
it's true about the depreciation of arrangers, buy a used psr or tyros, for some of the best deals in the business!
