Bhakta Prahlada is a 1983 Indian Kannada-language mythological film, directed by Vijay, and based on the Hindu mythological tale of Prahalada. The film stars Rajkumar, Saritha, Master Lohith and Ananth Nag. The soundtrack was composed by T. G. Lingappa. The film won State Film Awards in Sound recording and cinematography categories.
Hiranyakashipu (also known as Hiranyakashyap) was an Asura and king of the daityas from the Puranic scriptures of Hinduism. His name literally translates to "clothed in gold" and is often interpreted as depicting one who is fond of wealth. In the Puranas, however, it is also stated the name was derived from a golden throne called 'Hiranyakashipu' the asura sat in or nearby during the Atiratra (Soma) sacrifice.
In this scene, Hiranyakashyapu is angry and confused on his son Prahalada's recent activities and behaviours. Prahalada is praising his father's enemy, Lord Vishnu and this had angered Hiranyakashyapu. Here, Hiranyakashyapu finally finds out that Vishnu is using Prahalada as a puppet and irritating Hiranyakashyapu and he challenges Lord Vishnu to come face him in combat rather than mesmerizing his son.
This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie and it acts as an acting guide for so many growing actors. Rajkumar was a legend and he has set a benchmark with his acting in this scene. For me, this scene was hard because it was merely impossible to reach the energy levels Dr.Rajkumar had put while playing this role. I have tried all I can to atleast make it acceptable.
