Feast Upon the Words (Anna's Story)

“Hi! My name is Anna, and one of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon is Ether 12:4. It teaches that hope has the power to fill our lives with happiness. If we have hope, then we must have faith because the two are fused together in action to overcome despair, fear, and doubt that come from the adversary. Hope is a gift from the Spirit, one that we can be completely assured in.
“Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught, ‘Hope is not knowledge, but rather the abiding trust that the Lord will fulfill His promise to us. It is confidence that if we live according to God’s laws and the words of His prophets now, we will receive desired blessings in the future. It is believing and expecting that our prayers will be answered. It is manifest in confidence, optimism, enthusiasm, and patient perseverance’ (“The Infinite Power of Hope,” general conference, Oct. 2008).
“Hope is our light, and it comes from the Savior. Embrace His teachings and turn to our high priest of good things to come. Remember that hope is our promised future and unwavering faith is how we get there. From anchoring our souls to the Savior, we can attain the promises from our Heavenly Father.” -Anna
