My favorite song of Queen is this and You Take My Breath Away, My Melancholy Blues, Lilly of the Valley and The Millionaires Waltz. ❤❤❤It goes on and on and on la la lala. Freddie was teased as a child for his extra teeth/overbite but he believed it helped his voice. But his overbite gave him that powerful jaw that great singers need. He also was teased for his long fingers as being womanish but they were double jointed aiding in his piano playing along with his perfect ear. He also had a four octave voice and sang using his false vocal chords like Tuvan singers use. It was like he was created to be able to perform music. All 4 members were intellectually gifted and musically talented. They listened to all types of music. Brian May says in the best documentary of Queen: Days of Our Lives that at first when recording, Freddie didn’t like his voice. So he worked relentlessly on it until it sounded right according to Freddie’s exacting standards. These guys were professionals that took their jobs seriously! RIP Freddie. Miss you still!❤

This is actually "In The Lap Of The God - REVISITED". Believe it or not, Freddie wrote TWO songs entitled "In The Lap Of The Gods" & "In The Lap of The Gods - REVISITED". Completely different melodies, with different lyrics. There are live versions of both of them. Both are worth the watch. (if you want to hear Roger Taylor's high vocal screams, plus I think Brian's guitarwork is even fancier, also go to "In The Lap of The Gods - Live At The Rainbow 1974". (not REVISTED). They played both songs at this concert. You'll know it's the right one as Freddie will be wearing a white costume during it.) I much prefer the live versions of both. The album version freaks me out. As for Freddie's teeth. Not sure if they aided him singing, but he thought they did so he refused to have them fixed. I know he had to overcome a lisp (sometimes you will hear it in songs) due to them, so that gave him beautiful diction. And it's his vocal clarity & pronunciation, coupled with his tone, that I find so pleasing.

You're not a real Queen fan if you can't sing along with the Oh-oh-la-la-la's of Lap of the Gods revisited :) Brian's guitar solo's are more like another melodic verse of the song than they are the usual rock guitar solo. And he could make his guitar sound like almost anything to work in the song. Also, maybe he didn't need it but Freddie often stayed near Brian during the solos and played around keeping the crowd's attention there. I mean we can all admit that many guitar solos leave us looking around for something interesting. With Freddie giving Brian his attention, it meant that the crowd would as well. Combined with Bri's stunning ability no one could look away.

Please react to White Queen live at Hammersmith Oden 1975. You will be blown away by the vocals and guitar. It’s also an early Queen, your jaw will drop - I guarantee it! Freddie use the think his overbite aided in his vocal abilities. Scientists did a study of his one off vocal octaves and said there is a pair of ventricular folds that are not used, however, whether he knew it or not, Freddie was able to also use that set of folds which gave him that “growl”. Scientists had no explanation for his octave range other than a “gift”. Nobody could convince Freddie to fix his teeth. I kinda don’t blame him. His voice is a one off and will never be duplicated. I have not grown tired of listening to them even after all these years. He is the goat and Queen
was an incredible band with 4 gifted self taught musicians

EASILY one of the most underrated Queen song ever... possibly better than Bohemian Rhapsody and Innuendo!!! When I see Freddie banging on the piano keys and his head bobbing, I get cold chills and goosebumps. Every time. Every. Single. Time.
I wonder what it would feel like if one was high on mushrooms while listening to the trippy psychedelic guitar

you should look at Brian singing Too much Love will Kill you so you can see how good he is. Also watch Roger Taylor singing solo, he had the highest voice of all of them. You can see them both singing on the song Brian wrote for Freddie. Its called Only the Good Die Young. It will make you understand how talented they all were and and they all played multi instruments.

Sebs, i play. QUEEN every day of my lefe simply because tho i listen to many others, none come up to Queen... none... so i put their music on the minute i wake up, every day pretty much, even before I make ☕️ coffee... The whole band worked hard & practicing was what made them perfect. ALOT of practicing... & Freddie was admittedly & proudly a perfectionist ...he said famously "people spend their hard earned money to buy our tickets so we OWE IT TO THEM to give them the best music possible EVERY TIME." That was their belief & it was always what they felt obligated to do. Now factor in Freddie's GOAT voice along with his charisma... you cant take yr eyes off of him, can you ?! Please go react to White Queen for more knowledge of what this genius of a man does with his piano. He never really had more than a couple of lessons but when several musicians observed him at boarding school from 8 yrs old to about 15 yrs old when they said "lessons weren't necessary since we knew him to hear any song once then he'd just go play it perfectly on the school piano a few minutes later. He was a genius in so many ways. And everyone that knew him repeatedly commented that until he died, he was the nicest, most kind & generous person any of them ever knew. Go down the rabbit hole Sebs, you're mind will be blown. Crazy Little Thing Called Love he wrote in the bathtub on his guitar in ten minutes. LOVE OF MY LIFE is his greatest love song to Mary, former girlfriend, and then just friends forever that he left 50% of his estate to. TIME WAITS FOR NOBODY... IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED... ALWAYS REACT TO THE LIVE CONCERTS !!! OH, & just a year before he died, he decided he wanted to write & sing opera having attended operas all his life even as a child. Yhe top opera diva in the world, Monserrate Caballe, was so impressed by the songs he sent her to hear him sing, that she made a great album with him & did live performances of them. He wrote the music & lyrics with his favorite pianist Mike Moran some of the songs he wrote & sang in English, Spanish & even one in Japanese!!!!.. the album is called BARCELONA & there's live videos of them at LaNit & elsewhere. You should really listen to their 8 songs on that album. I cant wait for you to hear ALL from early 1970s thru 1991 even if you dont have the time to react online to each one... just listen to this amazing voice in all his songs for yr own enjoyment... SO GLAD WE QUEEN BUFFS FOUND YOU SEBS...YOU ARE A TERRIFIC COMMENTATOR IN YR REACTIONS.

There actually was a scientific study done of Freddie’s voice. Turns out it had nothing to do with his extra teeth but the fact that Freddie had the unique ability to use his “false vocal cords” the ventricular folds above his actual vocal cords to create his unique subharmonics. Also, Freddie had an extremely fast vibrato at 7.04 Hz. Typically an opera singer’s vibrato frequency between 5.5-6 Hz. So, Freddie’s vibrato was faster than an opera singer. That combination is what made Freddie’s singing so unique. Please react to funky Dragon Attack live at Montreal and A Kind of Magic live at Wembley.

Freddie never got his teeth straightened because he worried that it would indeed affect his voice, the way it sounds, it’s volume & how he could project it. And he may well have been right. God bless Freddie, his teeth and his voice, they were all a gift to the world, as was Queen per se! Welcome to my teenage years, how blessed we are as baby boomers, we grew up at a time when music was fantastic, singers really knew how to sing and the band actually played!! Technically, the name of this song is "In The Lap Of The Gods - Revisited". It was Freddie's first attempt to write a song that the audience would sing along with. I loved it when they performed the melody of their songs, "In The Lap Of The Gods - revisited, Seven Seas of Rhye, and Tear it Up" like at this Wembley performance in 1986 - ua-cam.com/video/sb-uUzLu3Wc/v-deo.html
There was an earlier Queen song, also written by Freddie, titled "In The Lap Of The Gods". Here is a link to a live performance of "In The Lap Of The Gods" at the Rainbow in 1974 - ua-cam.com/video/xNmrj5nTMOc/v-deo.html

Sebs, there are so many great songs on the first three Queen albums that are not so widely known by the world since their breakout hit "Bohemian Rhapsody" was on their fourth LP, and most people just followed them from that point. This band is so fantastic, all of them amazing in their own right. Look for performances of any of their songs off the first three albums or from concerts from around 1974 and 1975. You should one day react to "White Queen" from the Odeon Hammersmith, 1975 I believe. There is an amazing guitar/piano section in the song you will love!!

You should check out White Queen and Stone Cold Crazy!! Freddie always believed his protruding teeth helped him get a better range but I think it's his talent and yes, Scientists did do a study of his vocals that confirmed his range that is unique to which Dr May said 'We already knew that so now science can now go back to researching things that matter" Lol. Freddie is as amazing live as the records, it the first thing I noticed when I stood a few feet away from him when I first saw him live. He actually sweat on me too!!! This video is from a Queen performance entitled "A Night at the Odeon- Hammersmith". It was a BBC broadcast of a live Queen concert on Christmas Eve from the Odeon Theatre in Hammersmith, England in 1975. This performance was the final date of Queen's UK tour in support of the album "A Night At The Opera", which had been released a few weeks previously, and had already gone platinum.
Since it was a TV broadcast, they were limited by the time constraints of the BBC so when they performed their final song, which is actually titled "In The Lap Of The Gods - Revisited", there was no encore broadcast. The balloons and streamers were for the TV audience and not usually part of Queen's concert.
This song was Freddie's first attempt to write a song that would encourage the audience to sing along with the band. Later songs written specifically for audience participation were, of course, Freddie's "We Are The Champions" and Brian's "We Will Rock You". The band loved their audience to sing along. When Freddie and Brian performed "Love Of My Life", Freddie got used to the audience singing the song and he would direct it. You should watch this video of Freddie and Brian performing "Love Of My Life" at Rio - ua-cam.com/video/gblZ2drKK1M/v-deo.html.
(FYI - There is another Queen song, also written by Freddie, titled "In the Lap of The God" ua-cam.com/video/xNmrj5nTMOc/v-deo.html, which is totally different and worth listening to if for no other reason than to hear Roger's contribution to the song).
Queen did return onstage following the ending of the broadcast to perform a few more songs as an encore.

The song you played it “Lap of the Gods-Revisted” , but the lyrics you pulled up was from “Lap of the Gods “ (NOT Revisited) … two different songs.

You mentioned GRATITUDE (the gratitude that these guys had for the fans)…
So, a couple years later after this - in the summer of 1976 - as a “Thank You” to their fans, Queen gave a FREE concert in Hyde Park in London…
    The attendance was around 200,000

Your making me get the chills. How I adore and miss this man. What a genius. I’m not sure he actually left it up to the gods. He knew he was going to make himself a legend because he was so talented. I’m going to see Queen tonight because I want to see Brian and Roger in person but it will never ever be the same.

Yes, Freddie's mouth played a part on his voice. He was born with supernumerary teeth, thats why he had thw overbite. After Queen made it there was a thought that he would fix this, but Freddie was very afraid it would change his vocal performance so he didn’t do it.

Seen them in the early 80's, 3hr set in Dublin's RDS, magnificent!
Yes you should check out the original because it's what it is, the original cut. You'll hear him sing it differently too.
Queen are great doing both but it's more or less the same vibe. Same with 'Love of my Life', amazing live but the studio version has his piano playing, and he had an amazing 'touch' on it.
Brian once highlighted it in an interview explaining how he slowly drifted away from playing the piano live, he got more and more into his frontman duties.

In The Lap Of The Gods Revisited live is extraordinary no doubt but the In “The Lap Of The Gods” (not resisted) gives me chills every time I hear it and the one done at Rainbow is mind blowing. This video just came across my feed tonight and I really enjoyed it so I’m going to look for more. If you haven’t already, watch In The Lap Of The Gods (not revisited), it’s simply as my dad used to say, “pure poetry”.

You mention that this is the closing piece of the concert. Check out Ten Years After doing 'I'm Going Home' (the 11 minute version, not the clipped 6-minute version) that was the closing piece after a two-hour performance - live at Woodstock. To me it's one of the best 'closers' ever. The other members of the band are great, but Alvin Lee is just incredible.

Freddie had teeth that were extra, at the back of his mouth, so he said he had more space in his mouth, to sing more powerfully. So he left the extra teeth, which were pushing his front teeth forward. His voice is well known as one of the most powerful singing voices in rock.

Hi Vic. :) Queen and Kiss are probably the most grateful people to their fans that I've experienced. I recommend you go back to the start of the queen catalogue and listen through to every album. The best songs are , for me anyway, not the singles. There's a some fantastic gold to unearth in every album. Enjoy. :)
