According to the information I heard, in the future the old city area of Jakarta will be free of public transportation, all areas will be pedestrianized. The arrangement of the old city of Jakarta has been carried out since last year, such as making sidewalks, renovating old buildings and now the MRT has been built, so that when we want to visit here we don't need to bring a vehicle.
Kalau mau lihat Jakarta clean, pergilah ke daerah2 bisnis/daerah2 elite di Jakarta... PIK2...., SCBD..., kawasan Bisnis EPICENTRUM, Jalan SOEDIRMAN, dll... EXPLORE lah... JAKARTA SANGAT LUAS.... 😊

In the Philippines, we also have a colonial-era town in our Capital City Manila called "Intramuros" built by Spanish Colonizers. Unlike Kota Tua, Intramuros is surrounded by thick walls.
Very nice place for a visit. Recently there have been efforts to revitalised the area, the newest ones were the area near Jakarta Kota station, roads were closed and turn to pedestrian area. In the future there will be mrt there. Similarly the plan to create polders dykes and pumphouses have been completed over the last years to mitigate the flooding. Might be more similar to many dutch cities in the future.

No wonder if that fisherman came all the way from Makassar to live in Jakarta, as their ancestors were known as sailors and wanderers. If you ever have the time to travel to Sulawesi, especially Makassar, you can visit the Rotterdam Fort, one of the famous tourist spots that used to be a defensive fort from the colonial era under the VOC.
