    I loaned my 7D to my daughter for her Architecture thesis and when I went to use it a few months later oh look... Bent Pins... Of course she claims no knowledge of the damage.... Luckily I managed to score a 5d Mk III for a steal to use in the meantime, but I really did not want to pay Canon $400 to maybe fix the 7d which my wife prefers to our older 300s.... Your video is so much more detailed than the others out there that totally deconstruct the entire body just to get to the card reader. Super Thumbs UP!!

      You're welcome and I'm very happy that i could help you out with this video! I hope the camera still works and your daughter is happy with it. ;o))

    Thank you! There are several videos out there that show how to do this, but yours is definitely the best. A wildlife photography trip was almost ruined when the pins in our 7D’s CF slot got bent. I was able to bend them back in place through the slot using a tiny screwdriver and a steady hand, but I ordered a replacement CF slot as soon as we returned home. Your guide was invaluable during the replacement process.

      Thank you Ben, you're very welcome! I'm glad that my video helped by repairing your camera. There is no better feeling than repairing your own equipment.. ;o) Wishing you a lot of fun by taking pictures with your 'new' camera again.. o/

    why didnt he replace the slot reader itself instead of straighten the pins?

    • @Blarksel

      This would be the second step if the repair would fail. But why should i throw a not so small amount of money in a new part instead in the first place?
      By getting the things done with a little time spend doing what i like i also keep learning/earning some skills.. ;o)

    Hallo Blarksel. What tools would you suggest for general camera repairs; and where can I buy them ? Welche Werkzeuge sollte man benutzen und wo kann man die einzeln und/oder im Kit kaufen?

    • @Blarksel
      @Blarksel 5 років тому

      Hello Joe, the most suitable tools for this kind of work would be a set of precision mechanic screwdrivers and also pliers. An normal, not too big screwdriver (2-3mm) could be helpful in some cases, too.

    Hello Blarksel. Are you located in the US. Do you do repairs for others? I have a Canon EOS D60 and unable to find anyone to fix the badly bent card reader problem, maybe needs a replacement. Please let me know. Thank you.

      Hello vmay02416, thank you for the inquiry. Sadly i'm not able to help you with that 60D card reader - i'm located in Germany. Is there no way to try it by yourself? The procedure should be the same as on the 7D. Anyway, i hope you will find a way to get that problem fixed. ;o) Greetings, Blarksel

      @@Blarksel Thank you for your quick reply. I will try to open the camera myself then. Do you know if I can change out the reader with an upgraded reader or replace with the same model? Thank you much!

      Hi again, i don't know if there are upgraded readers for this camera, but you can change the reader board for itself without any problems. Just look/search at ebay or any other place for 60d card reader board and you will find something. ;o)
      According to this, i found a video especially dealing with the 60D and some workaround with sd card problems or the write protection error. Maybe have a look: ua-cam.com/video/Afzzvj_KAdA/v-deo.html
      Greetings and good luck,
      Blarksel / Kai

    Hello plz i have a prblm at canon 5d mark 4 msg at battery not working

    • @Blarksel
      @Blarksel 5 років тому

      Have you tried another battery? Have you checked the Card-Slot and the little switches that sit at some flaps? Maybe there's a connection-problem. If you use third-party batteries, try onriginals - maybe the ones you use are defective. Have you looked at canons FAQ for some solutions?

    And... How can I repair a broken pin?

      Order a replacement, they go for around 60 bucks, a worthwhile investment I'd say
